Location and general description of property.—The railroad of The Sumter & Choctaw Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge railroad operated by steam locomotives and gasoline-motor cars, extending southwardly from Lilita to Choctaw City, Ala., a distance of 22.216 miles.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated July 12, 1904, under the general laws of the State of Alabama, for the purpose of acquiring the railroad of the Allison Lumber Company, extending from Lilita to Whitfield, Ala., and to construct and operate in connection therewith a railroad extending from Bellamy in a southerly direction to Steiner, Ala. Through an amendment to the charter, dated April 22, 1911, the southern terminus of the line was changed to Choctaw City, Ala. The date of organization of the carrier was July 12, 1904.
