The railroad of Willamette Valley and Coast Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad located in the northwestern part of Oregon. The owned mileage extends westwardly from Patton to Cherry Grove, a distance of 5.709 miles. The carrier also owns yard and side tracks totaling 0.982 mile. Its road thus embraces 6.691 miles of all tracks owned.


Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated January 17, 1911, for an unlimited period, under the general laws of the State of Oregon. The purpose for which the carrier was incorporated was to construct, maintain, and operate a railroad from a point on the line of Southern Pacific Company, between Forest Grove and Gaston, to and through Cherry Grove, and extending therefrom to such other points as might be subsequently determined. The date of organization of the carrier was March 1, 1911. Its principal office is located at Cherry Grove. DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The road owned and operated by the carrier on date of valuation had been acquired by construction which commenced in April, 1911, and was placed in operation July 1, 1912. The grading on the entire road was done under contract and the remainder of the work by the forces of the carrier.
