- I don't think that will happen somehow. I'm stunned at the number of pages they had. I can understand why the deletion process wasn't as tidy as it could have been. The sheer number is a bit overwhelming. BTW, I spotted your bot cleaning up the Esperanza category per a CfD, but the link in the edit summary failed to work. Can you point me towards the CfD, by any chance? I also found a subpage of Esperanza that has quite happily been archived in user space for the past month (it was moved towards the end of December, possibly as part of the Overhaul process, but I'm finding it difficult to confirm this for some reason...), and no-one seems unhappy about that. Why couldn't that have happened to the other stuff, moving it to some innocuous archive somewhere, instead of all this hiding of history? Carcharoth 03:20, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, truly, an archive is utterly useless as I doubt anyone will care about the history, but agreed with Cyde; just don't bring it back, and for Christ's sake, shut up about Esperanza. As they say, cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it. DoomsDay349 03:22, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Surely you get the point by now, don't you? This was never about Esperanza for me. It is the general principle of preserving the historical record, and keeping history accessible for all, both as a matter of interest and to avoid repeating past mistakes. I would make the same arguments if WP:BJAODN were put up for deletion, or if WP:ARBCOM became a divisive force and was closed down, or if, for example, WP:MILHIST was taken over by rabid revisionists of history and the community voted to shut it down. It's actually been interesting, in my trawl through the history, to see the respected names that were involved in the early days. I am not crying a river (I was never involved in Esperanza), but I do think doing this properly makes it less likely that Esperanza (or similar organisations will return). If you are concerned about Esperanza coming back, I suggest that you go and campaign against the bureaucracy in places like the Birthday Committtee and the Kindness Campaign (though hopefully the bureaucracy there is in the names only). - I see your point, yes. My point however is just that I don't think it quite matters. I don't think preserving all those pages is necessary, but hey, 'tis cool, I suppose.
