After the decision[edit]

The "What now?" part of this page needs to be expanded. How do you know when you have a decision? How does a confirmed sock get blocked, if reported by a non-admin? Is a reporting admin "involved" and therefore needs to find an independent admin? What happens to cases that are not confirmed? I'm betting that there's a normal process for each of these cases, but this section only hints at it. WhatamIdoing (talk) 06:18, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk bot inactive[edit]

The Clerk bot mentioned on this page appears to have been inactive since 2009. So what is the current mechanism? Jc3s5h (talk) 14:04, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unparsable passage[edit]

I can't parse the following and have little idea what's intended -- can someone please clarify it?

Notification of a checkuser request may be courteous but is not currently seen as essential; the user knows a SPI case has been set up, the evidence within that case, including the need for further technical evidence, is assessed within that, on its merits.

sockpuppetry to avoid block[edit]

I'd like to recommend that opening an alternate account to avoid a user block be listed in Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/SPI/Guidance#Examples_of_forbidden_uses_of_multiple_accounts_or_meat-puppetry. Is that OK?--Nowa (talk) 14:06, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

not very helpful[edit]

hello. i was linked to this page because of a sockpuppetry claim, and the section on defending yourself against claims isn't very helpful. in fact, teh only thing i saw about any required action on my part was this:

You do not have to defend yourself against other claims, however bad, or engage in discussion about them, other than to note the claim is not relevant to sock puppetry.

i would like to know if i have to defend myself at all. i am confident that checkuser will exonerate me, so i really do not care to comment except this. -badmachine 02:30, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple IP Sockpuppetry[edit]

I am having problems with an IP sockpuppet whose address is constantly changing. This change and this change have obviously been done by the same person (who has made many more changes from IP addresses 212.183.128.*. The change of IP address is probably due to him logging off and then logging back on again and being given a different IP by his ISP - Vodaphone. I am in the position that he is refusing to engage in discussion, but if I revert him more than three times I risk being blocked whereas he, an unregistered user, cannot be blocked since he is legitimately sharing 255 other addresses with many other editors. I have strong reason to believe that this particular person (*not IP address) is a sockpuppet. What is the way forward? Martinvl (talk) 14:56, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unavoidable multiple IP use is not sockpuppetry, so please retract that bad faith accusation.
You were invited here and here to discuss your insistence on using unattributed POV as if it was fact, questionable sources and potentially copyvio cites, but chose, instead, to revert and reinstall it all. Don't waste people's time here making false accusations - go back to the talk page and try to defend your actions, if you think you can. 212.183.128.236 (talk) 15:49, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Minor grammar issue[edit]

Throughout the article, "an SPI" is used, however there's one instance where "a SPI" is used instead. I'm not flagging this with an {{Edit protected}} because it's minor enough that it can wait until some other edit needs to be made. Hopefully, some admin will notice this prior to editing. Okay, given that this article hasn't been edited since 2013, I'm now flagging this with an Edit protected. Robin Hood  (talk) 19:37, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppets on the Romania page[edit]

Hi, there seems to be at least half a dozen accounts on the Romania page in the past week or two that are changing large parts of the text and images. Some of these accounts only have one edit each but many have 3-6 edits and are either IP addresses or simply random strings of numbers (eg. User:2A02:2F08:82FF:FFFF:0:0:567D:CA7F. What is the best way to stop this?Monopoly31121993 (talk) 14:54, 19 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Maizbhandariya, this is not the place for your post. If you read the message on your talkpage, you will find it contains a link to the investigation page: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Maizbhandariya. Eric talk 18:24, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
