The code actually loaded on-wiki can be found here. The GitLab repository, containing the unminified source code (i.e. what's condensed into the on-wiki script) can be found here. Tag edits with in-line cleanup templates

@Qwerfjkl: Inline editing is a bit of a feat since plain rendered wikitext does not come with any metadata that can tell us what is and what is not part of the article. Usually this is solved by using Parsoid, but unfortunately the Parsoid format isn't what pages are rendered as. This then comes down to the problem of performance: there is an option to automatically load the Parsoid-built page whenever the userscript is loaded so that issues can be tagged instantly, or a button can be pressed that activates such an "inline editing" mode (much like how Who Wrote That? is implemented). Both of those, however, can't solve the problem of editing statements that are within existing templates or tables (such as {{cquote}} or {{blockquote}}). It's a balance of user friendliness and technical restrictions that make it hard to implement, and I don't think that it's not going to be one of our main foci as of now. Hi devs, there is an issues with the warn user function, when Formula of Love: O+T=＜3 is included in the Related Page parameter input field, the preview would displayed it as " " instead of Formula of Love: O+T=<3 and output would be as seen here. The issue doesn't affect Twinkle as seen here hence I believe there's some issues with Redwarn handling of the wikilink/URL. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 04:08, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Ctrlwiki, RedWarn went through a discussion in 2020 to become a gadget which was later withdrawn by the former lead developer Ed6767 when it was decided that, as RedWarn was a relatively new tool, it would be better to develop most of the core features of RedWarn before becoming a gadget. In the future, RedWarn may have another discussion to become a gadget, however for now the only way to install RedWarn is a userscript. @Ctrlwiki if you want to install RedWarn, you can follow the instructions at Wikipedia:RW/GET. To my knowledge, both RedWarn and Twinkle are completely safe. Unlike Twinkle, RedWarn supports both rollback and rollback-like functionality for users with rollback permissions. This significantly decreases waiting times during rollbacks. what does this mean? —Ctrlwiki • talk • 08:41, 17 December 2021 (UTC)

Wrong summary for a Review log reversion

Hi, I was doing a Pending changes review for Chimpanzee. I rejected the change, & entered my edit summary, then submitted. The RedWarn page for Pending changes came up, which I dismissed.

Later, I happened to check the Pending changes log & found that there was an edit summary completely different than I had entered:

2021-06-20T15:29:41 Peaceray talk contribs reviewed a version of Chimpanzee (Photographic memory redirects to eidetic memory. (RW 16.1)) (changes reviewed) (revision: 2021-06-20T14:42:10)

The edit summary for Chimpanzee, BTW, was correct:

Possible permission check bypasses

Hi,

Commenting out a certain few lines (not going to specify which just in case someone tries) in the RedWarn script allows any registered user to run RedWarn, regardless of permissions. (I tested this as an IP and it gave a "can't create configuration files" error instead of a "lacks permissions" one.)

Changing "true" to "false" on a certain line close to the aforementioned ones (not specifying for same reason as above) will bypass the extended-confirmed requirement for certain features.

This could allow a vandal to make a semi-automated vandalbot without having to actually write their own script.

Hi there! We've already dealt with this problem before and have already implemented a check that balances both security and user scrutiny. Tampered RedWarn versions are marked and the developers are alerted whenever one is detected. Chlod (RW • say hi!) 21:28, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

redwarnRules.json page

I've added a user-warning template that I'd like to use on my redwarnRules.json page in Special:PermaLink/1062267508, do I need to sync this change with the main RW database or can I just start using the template? Pahunkat (talk) 11:38, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
