Proposed pause on AfDs for Candidates[edit]

As we approach the 2018 elections in the United States, I suggest that we consider ending all discussions about an unelected candidate for elected office in the United States as procedural keep in the month prior to the election (in 2018 from October 6, 2018 to November 6, 2018) and we have similar pauses in the month before elections in other countries. (Note, this would not stop WP:BLPPROD or WP:SPEEDY deletions).

My reasoning is that as we approach the election, there are often arguments made to wait until the election to determine whether the candidate is successful (especially in areas where it is likely that a candidate from a particular party will win). In addition, there are often more supporters close to an election who care about keeping their candidate's page as a campaign tool. By procedurally keeping articles and then renominating them after the election, we can have a better sense of who is and who is not notable, outside of the intensity of a political campaign.

We can keep a running list of nominated (or potentially nominated) articles about unelected candidates to bring back for deletion in November.
