Elisha Cuthbert

This isn't directly 24 content, so I don't think it's an included article, but I thought you guys may want to know I'm working on Elisha Cuthbert along with Antrophica. Staxringold 12:47, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

She's directly related in the Actors/Actresses aspect.

Wiki 24

I don't know if anyone else at the site notices, but people working on 24 articles have been using a lot of Wiki 24's content on wikipedia. Some sites are copied word for word. There's nothing wrong with that, but a lot of the pages are unnotable considering the scope of wikipedia. It's also a violation of copyright. All of our editors deserve credit for their work, so put a page history so people can see their citation. And most of all, create your own pages. We work hard on ours, and people create their own pages for Star Trek and Star Wars characters, they don't use their associated wikas. It's sort of an insult that wikipedia is turning into a large copy of wiki 24. - Xtreme680 06:25, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Got a List? If so, I'll add a To-Do for rewriting. - Jeremy 19:22, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Key articles for Wikipedia 1.0

Hello! We at the Work via WikiProjects team for Wikipedia 1.0 would like you to identify the "key articles" from your project that should be included in offline releases of Wikipedia based on their importance, regardless of quality. We will use that information to assess which articles should be nominated for Version 1.0 (not yet open) and later versions. Hopefully it will also help you identify which articles are the most important for the project to work on. As well, please add to your Arts WikiProject article table any articles of quality articles|high quality]]. If you are interested in developing a worklist such as this one for your WikiProject, or having a bot generate a worklist automatically for you, please contact us. Please feel free to post your suggestions right here. Thanks! Walkerma 05:59, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

By Key articles, do you mean the articles that are most needed for the 24 series?
Key articles are the ones that this project considers to be the most important. Presumably 24 (TV series) would be your "Top-Class" article for importance, but if we were putting together a CD which were to include five articles from this project, which would they be? Hope this helps, Walkerma 02:40, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
I'll put together a list. When do you need it by?

Here's a good five:

Deckiller 21:09, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, that's a good start. Feel free to update your listing if you come up with others beyond the initial 5, or if you assess them for quality. Thanks, Walkerma 06:09, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Merging

I am merging all the minor characters into a list, which will involve taking out background information and quotes. That sort of stuff can be compressed into a link to Wiki 24 as per most fictional items. — Deckiller 09:12, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Why remove background information? Some people may use it. - Jeremy 19:25, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Project Directory

Hello. The WikiProject Council is currently in the process of developing a master directory of the existing WikiProjects to replace and update the existing Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. These WikiProjects are of vital importance in helping wikipedia achieve its goal of becoming truly encyclopedic. Please review the following pages:

and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope to have the existing directory replaced by the updated and corrected version of the directory above by November 1. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 22:05, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry if you tried to update it before, and the corrections were gone. I have now moved the new draft in the old directory pages, so the links should work better. My apologies for any confusion this may have caused you. B2T2 13:49, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 16:28, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Removed cfdnotice, cfd has completed. --Kbdank71 15:08, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Please also note Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 February 20 for a review of the decision regarding Category:Actors by series. Tim! 08:09, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

I moved the page here: Wikipedia:WikiProject 24/Participants after realizing the mispelling fact that the P in "Project" wasn't capitalized and therefore prevented it from being a subpage. -WarthogDemon 02:24, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Affiliations

Character affiliations are getting out of hand - Nina Myers being just one example - and I would like to remove them on the basis that they are subjective and do not belong in the infobox, which is meant to be succinct and for 'at a glance' information'. Unless I meet with opposition by 21:00 (UTC) today, I shall purge them all. asyndeton 09:53, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Stop the merges!

Someone is attempting to merge most of the 24 character articles (check to see which ones). If anyone else opposes this, make it known in the articles' discussions boxes. --T smitts 17:43, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

I've already began to counter their votes, but I can only do so much. Wow... Those two (Lucy-marie and asyndeton) want to merge pretty much every single article. Which, btw, woudl end up creating an article so big it would end up being split into Minor Antagonists, Minor Guest Characters or something like that.--Gonzalo84 22:45, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

We know about this, check my talk page to find out the details. This has ended up in the mediation cabal, which is linked on my talk page.--Lan Di (talk) 23:47, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Spouse

Hey I'm just wondering why spouse is one of the three things listed under the character photographs. It's not very important and can be referenced in the article. I'm not changing anything, just wondering.Neeknitsuj 10:46, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

The 24-only Wiki

You're just the folks who might like to hear about this: there is a wiki strictly for official 24 material: http://24.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page. You're all welcome to contribute, if you didn't already know about it! Blue Danube (talk) 08:04, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Needs to be done

Mandy really needs a picture for her article. Also, we should have a requests page, instead of doing requests on the talk page.--Lan Di (talk) 18:53, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Please expand the lead to conform with guidelines at Wikipedia:Lead. The article should have an appropriate number of paragraphs as is shown on WP:LEAD, and should adequately summarize the article.[?]
  • Consider adding more links to the article; per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links) and Wikipedia:Build the web, create links to relevant articles.[?]

Season pages need cleanup

Not sure if this the correct place to post this, but I'd like to suggest adding the season pages to the improvement drive/task list. They could use a bit of clean up. Just a few examples of things that could be improved: the characters section right now is just a simple (and long) list of names, it should be rewritten as prose with brief explanations of their role in the seasons story. Plot sections on most are overly long (sometimes with repeated info) and can be condensed, cast images for seasons 1-4 are missing, the "Goofs" section in some pages is trivia which I don't think is allowed on wikipedia, and the episode synopsis's can also be improved (some are too long, others are too short, etc). SeanMooney (talk) 05:57, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

checkY Seems all cast images have been added. Feel free to add it to our task list, there's a navigation box at the bottom of the main 24 page, and there's a link to our Article improvement drive, and our task list. Sorry about not replying sooner. Thanks a lot. Steve Crossin (talk) (review) 05:36, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Minor CTU Agents Discussion

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! For the 1.0 Editorial Team, §hepBot (Disable) 22:26, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Project page under construction

Just a note to everyone, the project page will be undergoing a major revamp. It may take some time, but I think it will be for the best. Steve Crossin (contact) 03:11, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Assessment

Just a heads up, Steve if you'd like, I can fix up the assessment department because you missing alot of key elements. BW21.--BlackWatch21 19:14, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Too many templates?

Personally I think that we have a bit too many unnecessary/redundant templates.

That would leave just two templates: Template:24 (which would be used on all of the season pages, the series page etc) and Template:24 Characters (which would be used on the characters page obviously). Anyone else agree? SeanMooney (talk) 06:58, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

I see the have season character templates already been removed - that was fast! The next easiest one to merge/delete would probably be Template:24 Villains as it's already almost entirely duplicated in Template:24 Characters. It's just missing three things: Charles Logan, Tony Almeida, and the Minor_characters_in_24#Antagonists link. SeanMooney (talk) 09:59, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks for the help. This should be much nicer, some of these character pages had three templates each (24 CTU, 24 Villains, 24 Characters). Having just one will be much easier to maintain and should cut down on page loading times too I'd guess. SeanMooney (talk) 13:05, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Yeah, it was shocking. There's another matter I wanna start discussing, the Project Manual of Style. It's still unstarted, but I'm thinking, what should we add to it? We should have some sort of article structure guidelines, image guidelines, and guidelines on content (how much % is plot, notability, etc). Any thoughts? Steve Crossin (talk) (contact page) 13:07, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
I'll try and leave some comments on the MoS draft talk page when I get back. SeanMooney (talk) 14:53, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Hm I dunno, looks fine to me personally.... Problem is where would we even use the individual season character templates? They were only used on a single page before, which seems like kind of a waste (especially since each season page has the cast/character section already). Most of the characters [who have pages] appear in multiple seasons. SeanMooney (talk) 01:47, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
  • We could use the season templates on characters that only appeared in a single season could be in the single season template, and we could have a general template for characters that appeared in more than one season. It's something I'm not too sure on but I do see an issue in future, if we keep adding main characters into one single template. Steve Crossin (talk) (contact page) 01:54, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I can see how it could be an issue in the future. Your idea makes sense, but there isn't really a whole lot of characters pages for people that've only appeared in a single season. Only ones I can think of are Nadia and Doyle (s6), Chase (s3), and Teri (s1). That'd be 3 different templates for 4 different characters. I'm not against it, but we should probably think of the best way for doing it first. SeanMooney (talk) 02:19, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
  • Yeah, that would kinda be useless. We could explore the idea of going back to the templates that are sorted by their role on the series (CTU, antagonist, Government, or "other"), but then we would get the issue of characters who had multiple roles, eg, Charles Logan is both a Government figure and an antagonist, but we don't want two templates on one page. Do you have any ideas? Steve Crossin (talk) (contact page) 02:29, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
I still think a single "characters" template is best if we can keep things manageable... I see that 12 of the characters on {{24 Characters}} are up for merger discussion, even if only a few go through that should lighten the template some. Maybe experimenting with a few other minor tweaks like shortening the link "Minor CTU agents in 24" to simply "More", maybe centering stuff like {{24}}, etc. I dunno, just a few quick ideas... SeanMooney (talk) 03:44, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Not bad, though I'm not really a big fan of that font to be honest. I think it'd probably look better with the standard font. SeanMooney (talk) 10:43, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Personally I don't like the new style of the template - I think it should be reverted to just look like a normal one. Also, that logo looks awful, why use one that's so different to the actual 24 logo? SignorSimon (talk) 15:30, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

OK, I've removed the style stuff (font/colors/images) but kept all the other changes. What do you guys think now? SeanMooney (talk) 09:43, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

And without colours Steve Crossin (talk) (contact page) 10:34, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, cut 'em down. :) But seriously, I've been to a few pages to help with images on pages, and there are too many. It would be more helpful to readers if the templates were cut down. The same is happening at WP:BROY; a lot of the shorter articles are becoming more template than text, and although the same isn't happening here, surely all pages should be kept as simple as possible. My 2p on the matter. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 11:13, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

(e/c) Oh, and on an aside, that black and gold template looks brilliant. :) PeterSymonds (talk) 11:18, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Not sure of the redesign (all the collapsed groups), it now requires five clicks to access all of the characters. It's mostly good aside from that. SeanMooney (talk) 12:29, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
I dunno, if you look at the current version and the previous version side by side, this isn't really saving space or anything at all (maybe a single line). I guess it may reduce clutter on first glance but it also introduces the annoyance of multiple extra clicks. I think collapsing the template by default would help, then when they click show it just shows everything at once. The collapsed groups just seem a bit overboard IMHO, but I'll let others decide. SeanMooney (talk) 12:49, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
  • I've gone and edited it agsin to try and simplify it, but we're sorta back where we started, except the colours. Really up to what you all think, I feel that the colours should stay, and that a lot of other navboxes deviate from standard colour. I'm off to bed for now. Steve Crossin (talk) (contact page) 13:18, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Media franchises

Dear WikiProject 24 participants...WikiProject Media franchises needs some help from other projects which are similar. Media franchises' scope deals primarily with the coordination of articles within the hundreds if not thousands of media franchises which exist. Sometimes a franchise might just need color coordination of the various templates used; it could mean creating an article for the franchise as a jump off point for the children of it; or the creation of a new templating system for media franchise articles. The project primarily focuses on multimedia franchises. It would be great if some of this project's participants would come over and help the project get back on solid footing. Also, if you know of similar projects which have not received this, let Lady Aleena (talk · contribs) know. Please come and take a look at the project and see if you wish to lend a hand. You can sign up here if you wish. Thank you. LA @ 04:58, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for 24

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! For the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial team, SelectionBot 23:18, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Redirects

Hi. I've noticed that this, the ones that link to Recurring and minor characters in 24#24: Season 1, for example, need to be changed to Recurring and minor characters in 24#24: Season 1 2. Everything seems to be redir incorrectly. Before I go and do this, I just wanted to gauge that it's accurate and within consensus? Thanks! Prince of Canada t | c 05:58, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

You'd just be adding numerals to the ends of those redirects to fix them, correct? Sounds great of course. I just tried this on Collette Stenger and Eric Rayburn, and the fix seems to work. Is that the method you're asking about? Blue Danube (talk) 06:51, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Merge-Class

Hi there! I'm a developer of {{WPBannerMeta}}, the meta-template that your project banner is based on. Following changes there we're intending to rescind default support for "Merge-Class", which your project uses in the form of Category:Merge-Class 24 articles. There is an alternative system in place which makes it easy for the project to continue using this special class if you wish to do so, but I'm curious as to whether you think it is actually helpful to your project to have articles tagged in this way. Should I go ahead and implement the workaround to maintain the "Merge-Class" through this transition, or would you prefer it to be removed? Happymelon 22:04, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Happy-melon, could you please use the workaround? The category is something that I'd prefer to keep for the moment. - NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 05:24, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Coordinating this Wikiproject

Hi all in this Wikiproject. I was looking over some 24-related stuff, and I saw that this project needed a coordinator. I know I haven't done all that much work with 24-related articles, but I figured that since both coordinators (SeanMooney and Steve Crossin) seem to be unavailable, I could lend a hand until March or so, when Steve gets back.

If you have any questions, please let me know on my talk page, and I will help you to the best of my ability. - NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 05:14, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Honestly, I haven't done anything with this, and I'm unlikely to do so. If anyone needs my help, I'd be glad to do so. To the person who told me to do this...I doubt it was the best of ideas. NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 23:59, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
