Hi, welcome to wikipedia! We're glad to have you editing. If you need any help, feel free to check out the Wikipedia:Tutorial and Wikipedia:FAQ. Or you can ask at Wikipedia:Help Desk. Yours, Meelar 02:09, 29 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Hello, I'd like to ask you a question about the Pokémon article. Why do you feel The "unobtainable" Pokémon section belongs under the section "Codes and glitches"? I mean, how are they "glitches"? And I don't see how they're codes... Anyway, please respond soon. - Bulbaboy 21:57, 5 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Polygons

[edit]

Can you go to the Category:Polygons category at Wikipedia?? What do you think of it?? 66.32.255.134 00:10, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I added a category. Fiddle with it as you see fit. Mackerm 05:44, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)

WP:TFD decision was to delete the Template:Nintendochar template as it was far too large. It is also better to use categories in this instance.

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

Can you confirm that this vote was you: [1] -- Curps 01:02, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Since there is now an article on the Mohonk Mountain House I thought it would make sense to rename this article Mohonk Preserve. Since you've done the most recent work on it, I thought I should let you know. Mwanner 16:06, May 30, 2005 (UTC)

Sources for colours

[edit]

When you create articles for colours, could you please include some justification? For example, where does Gray-Tea Green come from? I understand that a great many of these are Crayola colours, and as such would be perfectly fine. Unfortunately without anything to justify them, they just look like cruft and are liable to "deletionist attack". --Phil | Talk June 28, 2005 11:37 (UTC)

Hoboken

[edit]

Just thought I'd let you know that I have merged the articles on Hoboken parks and landmarks into one huge umbrella article, Landmarks of Hoboken, New Jersey, since it looks like you're responsible for them. It is, of course, not an irreversible change, but it both gives the tiny articles on parks (which would likely be voted to merge or maybe even delete on VfD anyway) somewhere to go and looks impressive with all the pictures and descriptions together. I have not yet changed the template or the main Hoboken article, as I didn't want to create too much extra work to undo it if no one else liked the change, but I hope you do approve of it. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 30 June 2005 16:35 (UTC)

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Carolmarshelection.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL-self to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. License tagging for Image:2004ElectionControversyMap.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:2004ElectionControversyMap.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

List of Nintendo characters

[edit]

I've added the "prod" template to the article List of Nintendo characters, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:List of Nintendo characters. If you remove the dated prod template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Image:Bungeeball.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bungeeball.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add Replaceable fair use disputed, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Mushroommario3.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Mushroommario3.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Fair use rationale for Image:Bubbllighnglem.jpg

Fair use rationale for Image:Flightthatfoughtback.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Flightthatfoughtback.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 21:17, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Flightthatfoughtback.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Flightthatfoughtback.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self-no-disclaimers tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:17, 17 May 2007 (UTC). Orphaned non-free image (Image:Bubbllighnglem.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bubbllighnglem.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Redirect of Stage 1 Pokemon

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Stage 1 Pokemon, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Stage 1 Pokemon is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Stage 1 Pokemon, please affix the template hangon to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.

The article Lists of Nintendo characters has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This is already, and would work better as, a category. This "list of lists" is not necessary.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing dated prod will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File source problem with File:Intborderstates.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Intborderstates.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:37, 30 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 01:37, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Latitude0116 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I am requesting to be unblocked for the following reason: Keeping me blocked is no longer necessary because I would like to return to editing articles which are less controversial (such as articles about geography) Since I was blocked more than 6 months ago, I have read many Wikipedia policy pages (pages which I had not read when I started editing) and realize that it is not worth it to edit controversial articles. If I am unblocked I would like a clean start, with only one account, in order to increase reliability and stop being accused of sock puppetry, per the following line: It may be better to continue using the old account, clean up your behavior, and rebuild your reputation the hard way… [contentious articles] should be completely avoided by the editor attempting a clean start. The following is not part of my unblock request, but is related: I would like someone to stop User:Someone963852's disruptive behavior. He has been accusing innocent users (such as User: Female bodybuilder enthusiast and User: CentrumZero) of being sock puppets of me, which is not true -- these users have nothing to do with me. I believe User:Someone963852 has violated WP:HOUNDING (even though he has been hounding other users such as CentrumZero), and he has also violated WP:DBQ. His user account now seems to be used only to accuse people of being sock puppets, and not for anything constructive. If I am unblocked, I do not want be hounded by Someone963852 any longer (meaning that I do not want to be constantly accused of being random people who have nothing to do with me). Like I said, consider this paragraph as NOT part of my unblock request -- I added it only because my talk page is the only place I am currently allowed to edit. I would've added this paragraph to Mediation, but like I said I cannot edit anything except my talk page.

Decline reason:

Someone963852 is not the cause of your troubles. Your socks have been verified through multiple lines of evidence by outside parties. Danger High voltage! 18:37, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

A tag has been placed on File:Shwgunkmap.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [2], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

 • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
 • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:40, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request

Latitude0116 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I have been blocked for years and would like to begin editing again. Accusations made against me are false and have been made on anecdotal "evidence". I am NOT User:GayTenn; this person has nothing to do with me. In addition, the hounding by User:Someone963852 continues -- he just made more false accusations against my account, and I'm tired of it. I have been accused of being multiple users who have nothing to do with me. I do not have sock-puppets and would like to begin editing again. My previous unblock request was denied because of alleged "evidence" that I have sock-puppets -- again, this "evidence" is false because I do not have sock-puppets. I am hoping that a reasonable administrator will listen to me on this issue, as I was a productive editor prior to 2012 -- in 2012 (when all these accusations started being made) there was no way for me to fight them off because everyone assumed I was a "sockpuppet creator" and when I denied the accusations made against me, no one believed me. As a result, this has severely negatively impacted my experience on Wikipedia. It is terrible to be accused of being person(s) who you know are not you, and then to have people "confirm" these "hunches" based on flimsy anecdotal "evidence". Also, I have not made any edits to Wikipedia since late 2012 -- the various users I have been accused of being (such as User:GayTenn) are not me. It is frustrating to be doing proper etiquette (not edit during duration of block [even if block is wrongly used]) and then to have unjust false accusations made in the process of that etiquette.

Decline reason:

The standard offer is available to you, when you can stop socking, which your still doing. Information available to check users confirms that GayTenn, and 2 other accounts were previously used alongside other socks already in the archive of the SPI. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 16:39, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Anecdotal evidence including behavior and a "technically indistinguishable" checkuser? I'd say that's pretty strong evidence. Origamite\(·_·\)(/·_·)/ 11:31, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No checkuser was used for GayTenn as well as multiple other users I've been accused of being. The one checkuser done in late 2012 was untrue (in spite of the "technically indistinguishable" claim made by an administrator). It baffles me how some Wikipedia users are able to get away with such dishonesty. Latitude0116 (talk) 00:35, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No checkuser was used because behavioral evidence was enough. Three checkusers were done by @AGK:, @DeltaQuad: and @WilliamH: to tie the accused users to the others in the then-current investigation, and behavioral evidence was used to tie the accounts to you since your information was stale in the second two. @Someone963852: just reports what you do, because they keep an eye on the areas that your puppets typically edit. Origamite\(·_·\)(/·_·)/ 12:26, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Again, (in response to DQ), I am not in any way associated with GayTenn. How am I supposed to undergo the standard offer when (within that time-frame) I keep getting accused of being people who I'm not? Five months will go by, and then five months from now Someone963852 will make a new accusation against me (accusing me of being yet another random editor whose edits vaguely resemble my own). This needs to stop: I am willing (and I have been) undergoing the standard offer (i.e. not editing, socking, etc.), but while I have been doing this, Someone963852 (which has almost become a single-purpose account to stalk me) falsely accuses me of being people who I'm not and then administrators buy into his paranoia.
I will continue (as I have been) not editing Wikipedia, but my efforts keep being sabotaged because anyone who even remotely resembles my editing habits will be viewed by Someone963852 as a sock of me (which isn't true) and then admins will agree with him based on hunches and assumptions -- and then rashly block legitimate users who are not me. Remember WP:DBQ.
As I said, I am not GayTenn, FemaleBodybuilder, and other random people I've been accused of being.
Even if I am eventually unblocked, I fear that paranoid Someone963852 will continue to stalk me and falsely accuse me of having socks (i.e. legitimate users who might resemble me but are actually other people). A user might resemble my editing habits, Someone963852 will say "that's a sock of Latitude" and an administrator will swiftly re-block me and block the unrelated person (based on the assumption that the unrelated person is one of my "socks", even though the alleged "sock" is actually an unrelated person). I somehow have to find away to overcome Someone963852's borderline harassment. Latitude0116 (talk) 02:30, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
