During a voyage from Cardiff , Wales , to Dieppe , France , the steamship sank in a Force 10 west-northwesterly gale between 6 and 8 nautical miles (11 and 15 km) north of St Ives Head , Cornwall, England. The entire crew of 18 lost their lives.[ 34] [ 35]
