WikiProject banners

[edit]

I feel some explanation is needed about the WikiProject banners appearing on this article's talk page. As a general principle, WikiProjects define their own scope and determine which articles they are interested in. So, removing a WikiProject banner where the article appears to be within scope of that WikiProject needs some explanation, or discussion. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 01:25, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Brands

[edit]

Some time ago the banner for WikiProject Brands was added to this article an then subsequently removed without explanation. The article appears to be within the scope of this WikiProject, so I have reinstated the banner. If anyone wants to remove the banner, explain why when you do so. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 01:25, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Crime

[edit]

I am somewhat ambivalent about including this article in WikiProject Crime, as the subject of the article does not seem to have been directly or deliberately involved in either perpetrating or being a victim of crime, itself, rather it seems to be a vehicle for some of its employees, managers, or both, to commit crime for various reasons. As such, this article falls into the "crime-related" scope of the Crime WikiProject. But this is a grey area, so I would welcome any discussion about whether this is an applicable WikiProject, or not. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 01:25, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Have you reviewed the article? The subject of the article (JBS S.A.) has been directly and deliberately involved in perpetrating multiple crimes across a number of jurisdictions. Thats why the sources say that both the company and the executives faced consequences. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 15:37, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I did read the article. However it was not clear to me, from the article, that the organization itself had been prosecuted for criminal offences, which the company might be imprisoned for, rather than non-compliance with civil laws that resulted in fines being imposed. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 10:41, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How does one imprison a company? The article talks about non-compliance with criminal laws that resulted in fines being imposed and executives being jailed. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 16:05, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Environment

[edit]

The WikiProject Environment banner was added in combination with the WikiProject Crime banner, and I can see the logic why someone might want to do so. But I wonder if this organization really falls within the scope of that WikiProject, but I will leave a final decision up to the project membership. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 01:25, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

We have an entire section for Environmental Damage, how would this not fall within the scope of WikiProject Environment? I can see the logic of why someone might want to include it, I can't see the logic for why someone wouldn't. You actually need to make that argument if its what you believe. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 15:39, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The summary at the top of the WikiProject Environment page says the project is "focused upon organizing and improving articles related to the natural environment and biophysical environment." However, I am unclear if organizations that cause the "environmental damage" are within the scope, or not. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 10:35, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can you think of a single reason why they would not be within that scope if its a significant part of the article? Horse Eye's Back (talk) 16:06, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of massive edit with translations from Portuguese; possibly relevant to WikiProject banners

[edit]

User:Cameron Dewe, I am writing here because I am not sure where to add a general reply to your topic with multiple sections.

I have recently made massive changes to the article. These changes were made in compliance with the request, previously featured at the top of the article, that the article be improved by adding translated content from the Portuguese version of the same article. I have replaced a lot of article content with translated content from Portuguese. I have done so at great speed and I have possibly broken a lot of stuff.

It is possible you aren't even referring to that, since I only edited the article, not the talk page. But it might be related. If these changes are related to the WikiProject stuff you're talking about, please undo any changes that might have been uncouth, I don't even know how WikiProjects work.

I think acknowledging that I have massively altered the article content very recently might help with any confusion that someone might have; I should have done so earlier.

@Thiagovscoelho: I assessed this article after you had edited it. So my assessment is based on the article at this revision. A WikiProject is a group of contributors who want to work together as a team to improve Wikipedia in some way. Article assessment is one aspect of WikiProjects that tries to identify how much work is still needed for an article to become a good article and what priority should be given to improving the article concerned. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 11:00, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
