another Louisville one

[edit]

Does Old U.S. Customshouse and Post Office and Fireproof Storage Company Warehouse, which is located in Louisville, Kentucky, belong on this list? It served historically as a courthouse among other uses. It is different than the two other Louisville buildings already in this list. I suppose that obtaining the NRHP nomination document for the place would be a help in finding out if it was a Federal courthouse. I don't know how comprehensive this list is, anyhow, what it is based on. --doncram (talk) 02:06, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The lists are based primarily on four sources - the Federal Judicial Center directory of historic federal courthouses, the General Services Administration directory of GSA-administered courthouses, the U.S. Marshal's service directory of courthouses with U.S. Marshal security, and the pages for the individual district courts. None of these is comprehensive (the District Court pages in particular are highly inconsistent in their coverage), and I do occasionally come across texts mentioning other very old courthouses not covered by the FJC. If you come across any buildings used as courthouses in more than an incidental way, particularly a structure built for the purpose of serving in part as a federal courthouse, please do add it. Cheers! bd2412 T 02:29, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
