Note, this should be called "in New York County, but not in Manhattan"
[edit]I supose we can move it... —Preceding unsigned comment added by dmadeo (talk • contribs) 2:40, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, okay by me if you want to move this one, and the other ones, to "on Manhattan" instead of "in Manhattan". However this one is even worse, since Manhattan is an island. Should this one be "List of Registered Historic Places on smaller islands of New York County, New York", or something else? doncram (talk) 03:16, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, perhaps it is time to figure out a better name. How about:
- "National Register of Historic Places listings in New York County other than Manhattan", or
- "National Register of Historic Places listings in non-Manhattan islands of New York County", or
- "National Register of Historic Places listings in New York County's smaller islands"?
- "National Register of Historic Places listings on Governors and Roosevelt Islands"
- "National Register of Historic Places listings on Governors Island and Roosevelt Island"
- "National Register of Historic Places listings on Governor's Island and Roosevelt Island"
- I think i prefer 4, 5, or 6. I don't know what is the correct spelling of the Governor one; it is currently inconsistent in this list-article, should be fixed. doncram (talk) 05:17, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with Doncram. I think I prefer number 4. It looks to me like "Governors Island" does not normally include an apostrophe (in spite of the fact that my eye wants it to have an apostrophe...) --Orlady (talk) 18:32, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- I notice an incoming link to here from the New York County list-article describes this as "Adjacent islands". Now on the list there is stuff at Liberty Island and Ellis Island, so it is not just Governors and Roosevelt Islands. I wonder about "NRHP listings on New York Harbor islands". That would work for Governors Island, Ellis Island, and Liberty Island. Not sure if it applies to Roosevelt Island properly. Or perhaps "NRHP listings on Roosevelt Island and New York harbor islands". --doncram (talk) 17:33, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- Technically Manhattan Island is also an island in or on New York Harbor. How about "National Register of Historic Places listings in Manhattan on minor islands"? Station1 (talk) 05:16, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

- I prefer the existing name. Are these islands in the Borough of Manhattan? If so, the existing name says it properly, and is easily understood by readers not from New York City.
