Re. Canadian terminology:

I sail out of Vancouver and have listened to marine forecasts for many years. They always used the term "Small Craft Warning", in contrast to "Strong Wind Warning" mentioned in this article. However, this year (2012) I don't recall hearing one, and when I check online I see that the weather office says that "Strong Wind Warning" is the new terminology. I can't find the date at which this change occurred - possibly as early as 2010 - but many documents online, including the Transport Canada weather warnings page, still refer to the old name.
