Title - II or PART II?[edit]

I am very certain the game is called The Godfather II, NOT The Godfather Part II. I heard that this is to differentiate the game from the movie, as they are quite different. To make sure, check the official site. I don't know how to move articles, so can someone move this back to the way it was? Spiritaway5177 (talk) 21:24, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, I was just wondering about that too. The website and the game's cover say The Godfather II, not Part II. Why the move? --Victortalk 06:24, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is important to make this distinguishment not only in the title but also the text. This game has nothing to do, at all, with The Godfather Part II. What EA did was take The Godfather: The Game, and expanded its story. You play the same, fictional character in both games. While the first game was a 3rd person perspective of the events of the film, the second fast forwards to 1968 and makes the player a Don right from the start. The only similarities between The Godfather II and The Godfather Part II is the appearance of some important characters like Michael Corleone. Engine[edit]

The Godfather II engine? It looks more like the Havok (software) engine. Especially with the thumbstick select menu seen in this little trailer. Any sources for that Godfather II engine? Mallerd (talk) 00:19, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looking in to it, I'm just saying it sure as hell looks a lot like Saints Row 2. Mallerd (talk) 00:21, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
THQ made Saints Row 2 so I doubt there is any connectiong whatsoever. The Godfather II plays like The Godfather with extra features thrown in. It is most likely using an updated version of the "Godfather engine." Come to think of it, it has more incommon with Unreal Engine 3 games (e.g. Mass Effect) than any other I've come across; however, The Godfather came out before Unreal Engine 3 went public. It doesn't carry any of the file system signatures of Unreal Engine 3 either (like executables in a "bin" folder, INI config files, etc.). FordGT90Concept (talk) 22:28, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
havok isn't a gaming engine! havok is a physics engine you use within a game engine, the game engine is an updated Godfather 1 engine. Markthemac (talk) 22:31, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, realised that. That's why I decided to just point out that it looks a lot like Saints Row. Mallerd (talk) 00:01, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wii version?[edit]

I noticed this was recently added:

"Makers have also said the Wii version will come out later in the year featuring aspects with the motion sensors and expanded gameplay."

Where's the citation for this? I've heard only confirmation that there will be no Wii version. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.159.242.134 (talk) 13:19, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll go ahead and delete this info. We shouldn't treat rumors as 'encyclopedic information.' Spiritaway5177 (talk) 18:09, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Already out on Torrent Sites[edit]

Spotted this 382 seconds ago on Thepiratebay.org . Impressive. --angrymascot —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.147.69.138 (talk) 23:51, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Most games get leaked once they go gold (usually when they reach the distributor). It's nothing out of the ordinary to be honest. Moozipan Cheese (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 12:24, 7 April 2009 (UTC).[reply]

they get leaked faster if they are generally not that well received in reviews, personally i seriously suspect game publishers of doing this themselves as promotion! "also as promotion, against piracy! blaming piracy for poor sales, instead of poor quality products" Markthemac (talk) 04:15, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Critiscism[edit]

I deleted the last bit in the 'Critiscism' section, firstly for not citing a source, but secondly and more importantly because it referenced a 'glitch' that is actually part of the game design. The in-game tips inform players that once they enter their safehouse, all 'heat' will automatically go away, and then they are immediately free to go back outside as if nothing happened. Some people may have a problem with this, but it certainly isn't a 'glitch.' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.85.254.186 (talk) 19:47, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Glitches: I found one on the PC version, sorry not to remember where it was, but it was behind a plant and upstairs, at a poker table. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.185.81.61 (talk) 14:49, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Be careful with the criticism section. I agree with the poor AI and the glitches, but remove the coment about the game being unreal due to random people favors, remember the first movie? Mr. Bonasera? Plus the fact about Fidel Castro; in the game he is shot plus not killed, and it's not a critic due to the movie being mxed with facts. Although someone should check the music in the game. I believe it is much modern than the '50s-'60s. --Skibish (talk) 05:49, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

all of these positives/negatives are in the numerous reviews, wikipedia is encyclopedic Markthemac (talk) 04:18, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
