critical response
[edit]The part about ordering pizza and IP addresses is irrelevant to the critical response to the movie.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.215.129.59 (talk) 14:32, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
dot-wrld?
[edit]When Angela searches for Praetorian, in the Jeff Gregg file is the email address JG@gms.wrld
Let's meet Wikipedias struggle to quality by wikifying
[edit]Let's wikify this. A wall of text hurts the eyes. Boring. Painful to read.
IP Address of Greg WhoIS Search
[edit]Does anyone know the IP address that Angela Bennett searches for on the software company's network? It was used for the whois lookup that she conducted during the building evacuation. I could have sworn I saw .345.200 at the end. Can anyone confirm this? -- Tuvok^Talk|Desk|Contribs 18:35, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I just watched it, and I think so, yes. 97.104.129.174 (talk) 05:15, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
on the beach
[edit]I removed "and some sort of connectivity device (perhaps an early cellular modem)." from where Angela is on the beach with her laptop because she says to Devlin, 'where can I plug in my modem', implying that she's not connected.
cultural references?
[edit]i'm just watching the film. there are some points i'm realizing:
- Angela works for Cathedral Software, somehow remembers me of the cathedral and the basar from e.s.raymond! Anyone else? (Well i don't know if that was published then yet, it could be a link nevertheless)
- The way the Gatekeeper Software gets adopted by everyone seems like when people and corps started switching from home brew (mostly un*x) systems to well Microsoft Windows platforms.
The ip getting whoised (at the end, in cathedralsoft at fake-Angelas Workstation) is 23.75.345.200 BTW.

- Ah, finally! Thank you! I could have sworn I saw an invalid IP there. I suppose the directors wanted to make sure they didn't use a real IP. IPs only go up to 255. -- Tuvok^Talk|Desk|Contribs 20:55, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- They should have used a real IP - one that pointed to the movies official website (they had those back then, right?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.100.52.87 (talk) 04:50, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Wrong cast list
[edit]I edited out Christopher Lloyd and Gilbert Gottfried from the cast list, because they were clearly not in this film.--Ccoolidge 21:29, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:The Net DVD cover.jpg
[edit]Image:The Net DVD cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:53, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Wolfenstein 3D
[edit]Interesting fact about the making of this film:

What is the statue/monument seen at about 2:25?
[edit]I noticed that as the secretary suicidally fires the gun, the view is panning up to a monument in the park that he chooses to die at. Is there an article for this monument, and is the monument of any significance to some abstraction that's meant to be drawn, like maybe how the secretary is drowning in sorrow/regret? At any rate, if there's an article, I think this article should link to it. --Macks2008 (talk) 18:42, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Sequel\ Spin-off serials
[edit]The page states that The Net 2.0 is a sequel, whereas The Net (1998) is a spin-off. I don't exactly get why, since the '98 serial follows the same protagonist - Angela - whereas The Net 2.0 is about a completely different character in a different setting. Should it be changed?--92.114.148.141 (talk) 09:19, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
Homage to "Notorious" 1943
[edit]Watch "The Net" immediately after "Notorious" to appreciate the many references to the 1943 film. Annathefilmbuff (talk) 18:41, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
Correction: "Notorious" is 1946 film, not 1943 Annathefilmbuff (talk) 18:59, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
- Please review WP:NOTCHAT. Talk pages are for discussing improvements to the article, not just discussing the subject. If you're proposing we add information to the article to this effect, it would be helpful to know whether any reliable sources have discussed these references. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 19:15, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
I would like the information added to the article. Nobody ever seems to mention it but it is blindingly obvious when you watch the two films one after the other. Annathefilmbuff (talk) 22:41, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
- Cool, but doing so without an RS would be original research, no matter how blindingly obvious it may be. DonIago (talk) 01:41, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
OK. It is verifiable though, simply by watching the two films. I won't bother you again! Annathefilmbuff (talk) 07:33, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
- When we discuss comparisons between two films, or films and their novelizations, or what-not, we include reliable sources both to establish that what we're pointing out has been verified by either someone involved with the production of the film or at least a professional critic or such (i.e. we're not just seeing something we want to see), but also that the comparison we're discussing was considered significant enough to merit some discussion in sources. Otherwise, for instance, every article discussing an episode of The Simpsons would end up buried in pop culture references made by editors trying to "catch 'em all", if you will. Hope this is helpful! DonIago (talk) 12:40, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
