Speedy deletion nomination of Architects of Air
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Architects of Air requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Category:St. John's Abbey, Kilkenny has been nominated for merging
[edit]Category:St. John's Abbey, Kilkenny has been nominated for merging. A discussion is taking place to decide whether this proposal complies with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:09, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
The article Edmond Smithwick has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Not enough in-depth coverage to meet WP:GNG, and being the mayor of a 30k municipality doesn't meet WP:NPOL.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Onel5969 TT me 16:18, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

Trinity Well, Ballyrafton moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Trinity Well, Ballyrafton. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Waqar💬 18:22, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Iwaqarhashmi No problem, I'll continue working on it, and it has sources now. A.-K. D. (talk) 20:34, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- FYI. I have moved the article back to Draft:Trinity Well, Ballyrafton. While the article does now have inline references, several do not appear to support the text. And certainly do not support a claim to this water-source/spring/well having independent notability. In terms of the "failed verification" issues, page 432 of Carrigan (1905; volume 4) is an index page. Not an entry. And, of the two index listing for "Trinity Well", one (Carrigan (1905; volume 4; page 26)) seems to be about a well under the floor of Knocktopher Abbey (~30km away from Ballyrafton/Dunmore). And the other (Carrigan (1905; volume 2; page 266)) seems to be about a well in Ballinamarra townland (~10km away from Ballyrafton/Dunmore). In terms of the RS/UGC issues, the Openstreetmap and School's Collection entries are user-generated. In one case by children. In the other case by who knows who. The only other reference (the NIAH entry) makes no mention of the subject. And, while it can be used to state that there is a church in Dunmore (5km away) called the "Church of the Most Holy Trinity", it has little (and perhaps no) relevance to the topic of the article/draft. More work is still required. To demonstrate that this well/water source has independent notability. See also my notes below about WP:WITHIN and WP:NGEO. (Not every well, spring, stream, hole-in-the-ground needs its own article. Even if covered, tangentially, in a small number of sources. The existence of a spring in the area, even one to which folkloric stories are attached, could easily be covered in an article about the area/townland/parish/as a whole.) Notability and reliability
[edit]Hi. While, I'm sure, you have a handle on much of this already, just to confirm:
- WP:NN. Not every holy well is automatically notable or requires its own standalone article. The text and references of Kilkeasy Holy Well, for example, do not establish notability under any of the applicable guidelines. Including WP:NGEO and WP:SIGCOV. The text simply describes a tree (like many in Ireland and perhaps 10s or 100s of thousands elsewhere on the planet) to which (hyper)local folkloric tales have been attached. Unless the subject (the tree) has "
received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject
" (as expected by WP:GNG), then a standalone article is not justified. - WP:WITHIN. Many of the topics, for which you have recently created standalone articles, could (and perhaps should) be covered within existing articles. Like the well in the beer garden of Kyteler's Inn being covered in that article. Or the tree in Kilkeasy being covered in an article on that townland. Etc.
- WP:RS. Many of the records in the Dúchas folklore collection (and School's Collection) are not reliable sources. The School's Collection is a collection of local folklore and stories (captured mainly by school children from older people). They do not meet the expectation of WP:REPUTABLE. Which expects that sources, ideally, have a "
reputation for fact-checking and accuracy
". You can just about use them to support text such that, for example "according to an entry in the School's Collection, local folklore holds that [warts can be cured or whatever]". But anything beyond that is an issue.
All the best. Guliolopez (talk) 16:04, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
- FYI. I have opened related discussions at Talk:Saint Lachtain's Well, Freshford (a merge proposal), Draft talk:Saint Catherine's Well, Rathbeagh (a merge proposal), and Talk:Church Well, Aughatubbrid or Chatsworth (a proposal to expand/rename the article to cover the entire townland). I'm also inclined to open a similar proposal for Saint Augustine's Well (to merge/redirect it to the existing Callan Augustinian Friary article - given the significant overlap). Let me know what you think. Ideally at the relevant Talk pages/threads. Guliolopez (talk) 14:38, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
