Information icon Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Austin Franklin. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Austin Franklin (Football)", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it is that of a real person whom this editor is not. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Please request administrator assistance in changing your user account name. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:49, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your question implies that you don't understand the difference between user pages and article pages. Go to the Teahouse and ask them about the difference between user pages and article pages. If you don't change your user name, because it falsely implies that you are Austin Franklin, I will have to report it to user names for admin attention. So far I have only given you a caution about using a misleading user name. Changing your user name will not change the name of the page about the football player. Robert McClenon (talk) 21:11, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Also, ask for advice about how to post to user talk pages. You should use the New Section tab to post to the bottom of a user page. Robert McClenon (talk) 21:11, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Just piping in. Robert gives excellent direction on how to correct the username error. I read your question on his talk page, and your mistake is that you don't understand some of the mechanics of Wikipedia (for that matter, I don't understand some of the mechanics). But there are different "spaces" within WP. For example, right now we are discussing this is a "user talk space". Your username is the name of a Wikipedia page in the "user space", while the name of the article is the name of the page you created in "article space" (or what some folks refer to as "mainspace"). Wikipedia has guidelines for what folks can use for a username, and the fact that your username mimics the name of a notable person violates those rules. It's pretty simple to request a username change, and you should do it as quickly as possible. Onel5969 TT me 11:51, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Changing your username will not change the name of Austin Franklin, in particular. If you have any more questions about 'spaces' and article names, please ask at the Teahouse. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:46, 11 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Austin Franklin (Football), matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username. If you choose to do so, we ask the following:

  1. Please be willing and able to prove your identity to Wikipedia.
  2. Please send an e-mail to info-en@wikimedia.org. Be aware that the volunteer response team that handles e-mail is indeed operated entirely by volunteers, and the reply may not be immediate.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. I JethroBT drop me a line 17:10, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
