==Image tagging for Image:Amal.jpg==

Thanks for uploading Image:Amal.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

License tagging for Image:M khayat.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:M khayat.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image:Blyton40.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Blyton40.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 19:12, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Elissapromo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Elissapromo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShadowHalo 17:05, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Commercial use of Image:Enid-blyton.jpg

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Enid-blyton.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Enid-blyton.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Enid-blyton.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 20:13, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Amal-hijazi-promo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Amal-hijazi-promo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:48, 1 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. OsamaK 11:48, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:Amal-perfectbride2.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how Image:Amal-perfectbride2.jpg is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on [[Talk:Image:Amal-perfectbride2.jpg]] saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. Videmus Omnia Talk 20:56, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Amal-hijazi-zaman.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Amal-hijazi-zaman.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Fair use rationale for Image:Amal-baya_al_ward.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Amal-baya_al_ward.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Image policy

[edit]

Hi, Blytonite. A complaint has been made here concerning your disregard for policy about non-free images of living people. I notice that you have repeatedly uploaded such images and added them to articles, even reuploading them after they had been deleted, and readding them to articles after you had been told of the policy. I'm linking the policy pages so that you can read them. On Wikipedia, we have Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, and at Foundation level (governing all the Wikimedia projects), we have Foundation:Resolution:Licensing policy. Please take a little time to make yourself familiar with them. I could block you, and there are other administrators who would, as you have been warned about this, but I'd really rather not do that. However, I do want to point out that any further violations will lead to your account being blocked. We really do appreciate your contributions, as long as they don't interfere with our purpose of building a free encyclopaedia. Oh, and the two images of Amal Hijazi have been deleted again. Don't try to reupload them. Thanks. ElinorD (talk) 23:45, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've speedy deleted it, as you've repeatedly been uploading these images of your favourite singer — a living person — in violation of our rules. I want to direct you again to Foundation:Resolution:Licensing policy and WP:NFCC. Please don't upload any more non-free images of livign people. It doesn't matter whether or not you understand our policy. It doesn't matter whether or not you agree with it. If you keep violating it, you're going to be blocked. Please consider this to be your very last warning. ElinorD (talk) 23:43, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary block

[edit]

I have blocked you from editing for one week for continuing to upload non-free images contrary to Wikipedia policy after mulitple warnings. Please use your time out to familiarize yourself with policies and practices, as explained in the links near the top of this talk page.

Blocked
You have been blocked for violations of copyright and Wikipedia policies for 1 week. To contest this block, add the text {{unblock|your reason here}} on this page, replacing your reason here with an explanation of why you believe this block to be unjustified. You can also email the blocking administrator or any administrator from this list. Please be sure to include your username (if you have one) and IP address in your email.

If you continue to misbehave after the block has expired, you will be blocked for longer and longer periods of time.Infrogmation 17:35, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image at Commons

[edit]

Regarding the image Commons:Image:Amal-Jarastv-3-Sep-07 6.jpg, first of all, please do not mess with the tags at Commons. The PD status of the image has been challenged. You say you've sent an email about it. In that case, if the PD status is confirmed by an OTRS admin, that admin will remove the tag. Removing it yourself is likely to lead to a block. If the PD status is confirmed, then the image can go back in the article.

Secondly, I have removed the image from Amal Hijazi, and have also removed Image:Amoola975.JPG. You do not hold the copyright to the second image, as taking a photo of a copyrighted work does not transfer the rights to you. Consequently, you do not have the right to release it under a free licence.

Look, I don't want to see you blocked indefinitely, but you've done nothing but edit war to add copyrighted images to this article, while ignoring our policy. Here is your last warning. Do not add any more images to that article unless you have been publicly told IN ADVANCE by an administrator that the image is in the public domain or that it has a free licence. If you do it once more, I'm going to block you indefinitely, and I'm going to leave you blocked until you agree to stop. Don't make it come to that, please. ElinorD (talk) 09:59, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Hala Hadi, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Photosation 30 mar 2008 (4).jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 10:23, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- I've added the GFDL logo and even if STILL you guys don't beleive me, please be so kind to send an e-mail to the webmaster of Amal Hijazi's (the singer's) official website. This is the address, www.amalfans.com. And for your information, all the images at the fanclub are under public doman. Thank you for your cooperation.

Please source your information

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions, including your edits to Nancy Ajram. However, please be aware of Wikipedia's policy that biographical information about living persons must not be libelous. Any controversial statements about a living person added to an article, or any other Wikipedia page, must include proper sources. Also, the information you have added to the pages of Nancy Ajram and Queen Rania of Jordan is quite trivial - there's no real assertion of notability to the information, no real evidence that it provides anything informative to the page (and this is in addition to being unsourced). It's possible that a source might provide some extra context that illustrates why the information is important, but it's not really very informative to say X was at this concert or Y is her friend. ‎ WLU (talk) 21:16, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Stallions Records

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Stallions Records requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. csaribay (talk) 22:48, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Twilight Series Sales Count

[edit]

Hi Blytonite,

I noticed you've been revising the edits of the sales counts. I've repeatedly re-edited it to 8 million, which is most likely the accurate figure- as I've mentioned, I've researched it and couldn't find a fifty million count, other than one or two links-which are likely to be inaccurate as opposed to the eight million one where I found several websites and newspapers citing so. The aims of Wikipedia are to be as accurate as possible in order to be a useful and reliable online encyclopedia, and I'm not too sure about the 50 million figure. The book is popular, but it'd be disinformation if Wiki made it seem more popular than it is, thus disputing the neutrality and accuracy of the article.

I have reverted it back to the 8 million figure, because it is most definitely accurate-see the three sources attached to it- and even if it is an underestimate, at least we can be sure we are counting books that DO exist, rather than having an overestimate. I have set up a section on the sales count on the Twilight talk page, and you can read my message there under the sales count section right at the bottom. I would appreciate it if you could perhaps explain your reasoning there if you are going to revert it. Also, it would be much appreciated if you could link other reliable sources citing this number, instead of just reverting my edits.

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Akher gharam - ps.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Akher gharam - ps.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. The article Nader Nour has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Long-term unreferenced biography with no indication of notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. AllyD (talk) 19:13, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Amani Swissi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Epeefleche (talk) 00:28, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello Blytonite, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Morrissey College of Arts & Sciences have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. /wiae /tlk 11:20, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
