Hi, I am Maria and don't promote a business

Hi, thank you for reaching out to me! i saw you deleted my page. I was and I am not promoting a business, it it just a series of annually events that gather Romanian Community around Chicago Area. I organize it out of my own resources, it is not a business nor an organization. These events gather now hundreds of Romanians and they are volunteering their time to be part of this. Every gathering has only cultural purposes, we sing and recite poems. please lmk why you deleted this page, thank you, Maria T Maria Theodorescu (talk) 19:10, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

(by talk reader) @Maria Theodorescu: But you shouldn't be using Wikipedia to promote anything, whether a for-profit business or a non-profit charity. You shouldn't be writing on Wikipedia about things with which you are involved because we only summarize what reliable sources say. You also should develop drafts in your sandbox and not your user page. For all these reasons, Captain Raju nominated your user page for speedy deletion. You would do well to read the many messages on your talk page. Please trust that our volunteers already write about many things and we don't ask you to provide help writing beyond your capabilities. Chris Troutman (talk) 21:37, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
"we don't ask you to provide help writing beyond your capabilities" - a very polite way to approach a rooky mistake, approach that speaks volumes. maybe I wasn't writing in the right place nor I was able to, but I know that I will address the way you answered me here further. I find your answer to me arrogant and demeaning, and since you didn't have the slightly intention of understanding what I was trying to write nor to help me navigate this, I will address this matter further. WikiCup 2024 February newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Obscuring AFD discussions with noise

That seems a bit excessive. Didn't we all have a discussion about having one line with all of the categories in it, a few years ago? I vaguely remember asking whether the scripts could be altered to do that, and someone saying that in fact they were already capable of doing that. SpacedFarmer even did two in one line, immediately preceding. Uncle G (talk) 14:28, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

I was about to ask the same question. Here's another more recent example: Special:Diff/1206645951/1206650390. User:Enterprisey/delsort definitely allows you to do multiple sorts per line by selecting multiple deletion sorting categories before saving (I try my best to do so). And I'd suggest start doing so as possible. (SpaceFarmer's sorting in that AfD was created by WP:TWINKLE creating the nom, so using a different tool.) Skynxnex (talk) 21:01, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Why not simply {{collapse begin}} and {{collapse end}} with a title parameter describing the collapse. -- GreenC 21:18, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Wouldn't be horrible to do occasionally (although I don't think I've ever seen it done) but I'm thinking more about future AfDs reducing noise. But it is still important to make it easy to see which sorting lists an AfD have been added to so it's transparent who may see it and so future sorters can avoid duplication. Also collapsing seems, like in most cases, unneeded work since delsort already makes it easy to mark the sorts fewer lines than one line per category.
