Concerning your note

which you left at the archive of my talk page. The sofix-it culture means when you see a minor issue with a Wikipedia article (references missing, categories missing, formatting screwed up etc) you just go and fix it yourself. It usually does not take much time and solves the problem. The templating culture is to report articles (by means of templates) thus shifting the fixing work to other users.--Ymblanter (talk) 09:17, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I guess they did that to keep people from putting purposefully incorrect information on high-traffic articles. Granted, now that I say that, high-traffic articles will have a high number of editors with that article on their watch list, so comedy edits won't last that long. You've apparently been here for years. What's your take on it? --Dabblequeen (talk) 22:22, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

High-traffic articles are not a problem at all, many users watch them, and any problem would be solved in a short time (or at least taken to the talk page to discuss). The problem are exactly low-traffic articles. If an article has no sources, and you know that the next qualified person may have a look at it in five years I would say you better make an effort and look for sources.--Ymblanter (talk) 09:08, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

General American Swearing

[edit]

We have an article on profanity, but we need an article on the specifics, the functions, and a sort of how-to for general American English swear words. Any Americans got ideas for what needs to be in there? Dabblequeen (talk) 19:24, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Valve-pronunciation-audio.ogg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Valve-pronunciation-audio.ogg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. [edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:34, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
