General Aircraft Hamilcar

Hi there! I'm new to DYK and the whole process, but I nominated a hook for General Aircraft Hamilcar. You moved it and stated in the edit summary you were moving it to the queue, but I can't find it! I realize I'm probably looking in the wrong place, but could you point me to where it is? I'd be real greatful, I'm quite excited about getting a hook on the front page! Thanks, Skinny87 (talk) 23:53, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

It's queued now but I apologize for the delay. I have started the move to the next update queue when I was called away from the computer by a minor emergency. All is now well and your fine hook will be on the main page in the next day or so. - Dravecky (talk) 13:40, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

DYKadmin Bot error

[1] The Bot wrote the wrong DYK tag (one to be used on article) on my talk. I did not know where should I report, but since it is given on your behalf, reported here.--Redtigerxyz Talk 12:58, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

The underlying template had been unexpectedly altered. I have reversed the alteration and put the proper credit tag on your user page. Sorry for the inconvenience. - Dravecky (talk) 13:38, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Mistake re DYK for Pelléas et Mélisande (opera)

Hi, Thanks for sending me this, but I had nothing to do with article apart from adding a couple of images. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 13:14, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

DYK for Kısmetim-1 incident

Hi! Thanks a lot for your contribution. Cheers. CeeGee (talk) 14:36, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I created this article and nominated for DYK. It appeared as DYK on Jan 30th, but no message was left on my talk page regarding this. Would you know why? Regards, Dineshkannambadi (talk) 17:08, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

I have no idea why the bot didn't hand out the credit as it should have. The template was properly formatted and there were no typographical errors. In any case, I have manually handed out the credit. Thanks for creating such great content. - Dravecky (talk) 19:13, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 20:44, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:KFMH logo.PNG)

I've re-integrated it into the article and removed the tag. - Dravecky (talk) 09:37, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

DYK miff

A little embarrassed to be mentioning it, but I self-nominated the article Ingrid Espelid Hovig, and it made the DYKs, but the DYKadminBot seems to have ignored me. Should I just swallow my grief silently, or is there something to be done about that? MURGH disc. 20:58, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

No, piping up is exactly the right thing to do. The bot's performance has been less than exemplary of late and while there is somebody looking into it, occasional manual corrections must be made. I've just added your tag (and the one other that the bot missed this round) so all should now be correct. Safety tip: always chew your grief 30 times before you swallow it. - Dravecky (talk) 21:06, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the swift remedy :) MURGH disc. 21:17, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

I think it's long enough now. My hook would be:

Did you know ...that the true meaning of the 5,000 calorie and 500 grams of fat sausage and bacon dish known as the bacon explosion isn't discovered until the day after eating it? ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:19, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

I cleaned up a couple instances of awkward verb conjugations...not sure if that's what you were referring to. But I think's the article's in good shape now. Cbl62 (talk) 00:06, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the help on the Plocki article. Just curious on the newspaper cites. You changed "publisher" to "work" in all my newspaper citations. When I started using newspapers on wikipedia, I saw a template that indicated that newspapers should be ID'd as a "publisher," which also makes sense since that's what a newspaper is. If I've got that wrong, I've been doing it wrong in hundreds of articles. Let me know if there's something you can point me to suggesting it should be "work," instead of "publisher." If so, it's fewer keystrokes too. Cbl62 (talk) 00:24, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
I've always been told that newspapers and magazines that originate the content should be "work" which, among several other conveniences, also automatically properly italicizes the name of the publication. - Dravecky (talk) 00:40, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Radio station speedy deletions

I've declined your speedy deletion nominations for various radio station redirects under R3, as that criterion requires the redirects to have been recently-created, but they are all at least seven months old. Please use RFD. Stifle (talk) 12:37, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

DYK

I'd be most pleased if you could verify the hook for John Maynard (cricketer), especially as today is the first day of the first Test match between England and West Indies (starts in <1 hour), so it'd be lovely if he appeared on Main Page during the match. (It lasts five days). --Dweller (talk) 13:07, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice of the DYKs. Best regards, -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:05, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

DYK hook issue

Re this, the respondent to my comment has misunderstood me. What the nun said Jesus gave her was a concept, but the hook implies a physical object - the one that is pictured. --Dweller (talk) 16:09, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Right, I've clarified that now in the promoted hook. - Dravecky (talk) 16:13, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Three Nichiren temples

Hi, Dravecky, and thanks for the work you do. I don't know if it's worth worrying about, but the hook is wrong. It says: ... that before a shogunate tribunal in 1787, the temples Myōhō–ji, Ankokuron-ji and Chōshō-ji in Kamakura all claimed to be the site where Nichiren, founder of Nichiren Buddhism in Japan, had his hermitage in a hut in the 13th century?}}

In fact, the shogunate sentence notwithstanding, as I say in the article they still make that claim. No big deal, but if it could be, why not correct it? - urashimataro (talk) 03:53, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Progress report: Country outlines

Development has been slow but continuous:

Penubag has done a fantastic job on the images for the awards we'll be using for our project's collaborations and contests. We now have 3 awards: a medal, a trophy, and a race ribbon. They all look tight. The trophy needs a small adjustment, but other than that, all 3 award images are complete and ready to use to create awards with.

Spartaz has warned us of (threatened to take) G4 (speedy delete) action if we run a competition that resembles the previously deleted Awards Center page. So whatever we do, any contests we run must differ substantially from the methods used there.

One type of competition I've been exploring is edit racing. I'm in the process of working the bugs out of this concept - the first race didn't work as expected - you see, because we only had an award for first place, the opponent didn't think it worthwhile to continue once it was clear who the winner would be. And since editors are in different time zones and usually need to start the race at different times, we need to base winning on personal start times - he who completes his assigned edits in the least time (rather than first), wins. And last but not least is quality control. What good is winning if your edits are ripe with errors? So I'll be exploring possibilities such as using a referee (whoever is overseeing a particular race), having participants watching each other for errors to knock them back, etc. I'm not sure yet.

Rich Farmbrough has been applying his bot expertise to filling in blanks in the country outlines (the population and area entries). I'm amazed at the number of edits he pumps out each day on a myriad of projects - ours makes up but a small time slice of his activity, and yet he has saved us many hours of manual work. Perhaps we should look into how he gets so much done.  :)

Zlerman has chosen to work on one outline at a time, and is taking on Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. He also has been keen on noticing and reporting design issues pertaining to the whole set of country outlines. Keep up the good work!

Highfields has been filling in the names of capitals, and is our first race winner. Check out the award on his user pages.

As you probably know, this project has expanded to include working on any and all sets of pages that are linked to from the country outlines. Once the set of country outlines go live (in article space), traffic will likely increase for all the links included on them. The quality and usefulness of those pages will reflect heavily on the country outlines (the outlines, which are essentially lists of links, are only as good as the links they present), and therefore we've branched out to solve the biggest problems with those as well. So far, we've taken on:

 • The creation of disambiguation pages for country adjectivals ("German", "French", "Taiwanese", etc. About half done.)
 • The clean-up of the CIA World Factbook statistics on the "demographics of" country pages. We've been renaming those sections to provide a key string that AWB can use for targetting (for skipping and filtering). Once that's done, we'll be able to break the clean-up down into simple AWB search/replace tasks, because we'll be able to target just those pages that include the CIA stuff.
 • Renaming the "Cuisine of" articles to their adjectival forms ("Chinese cuisine", "Italian cuisine", etc.)

Blackadam2 and Thehelpfulone have been helping out with the "demographics of" pages mentioned above.

And we have a couple speed addicts (addicted to wiki-velocity, not drugs)...

Both Robert Skyhawk and Thehelpfulone prefer (and excel at) simple AWB search/replaces. Robert hasn't actually joined our team yet, but he has been helping out quite a bit from the sidelines (via the WP:AWB/Tasks page. Unfortunately, there has recently been a non-AWB chore that has been holding things up on the AWB front - an edit to all the the headings which had to be reverted before too many new edits were made, because any new edits would make the reversion more difficult. The headings have been restored, so now the way is clear for AWB operations, and there are many search/replace tasks in the queue. AWB assignments have started again!

There's a similar bottleneck on the "Demographics of" pages (the "keying" mentioned above), but that's almost cleared too.  :)

With my internet access somewhat crippled, I've been finding it difficult to keep up with you guys. However, I expect to be accessing a Linky-capable workstation on a faster server (I'm on it right now, as you can probably tell from my contributions list for today), and so I should really pick up speed. Feels goooooood.  :)

Recruiting has been a bit slow (but steady), due in part to my crippled access, and because we've been waiting for the images for the awards to be completed. I expect the team to grow more rapidly as the bottlenecks are removed.

Well that's what's been happenin', and here's what's in the pipeline...

I'm about to begin work on a set of lists that corresponds to all the standard links on the country outlines, and these will be presented on the Topic outline of countries which will be organized exactly like the country outlines. Aside from being an extremely useful navigation aid, it will allow editors to easily see the state of country coverage on Wikipedia. I'll provide you with a link once I get up to speed on this.

In the meantime, keep up the good work!

Cheers,

The Transhumanist 05:56, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Fahd APC for DYK next update

Hello. I am the creator of the Fahd Armored Personnel Carrier article, and i noticed that you have moved the hook to the next update section. First of all, thank you for doing so. I am afraid that the hook you choose includes information that is not mentioned in the article. The last hook suggested : (... that the Fahd APC has numerous specialized variants ranging from an IFV to a command post vehicle, making it possible to form independent units capable of dealing with different threats ?) is okay regarding date, size, and references, and these information are mentioned in the article. Since you have more experience in DYK nominations, i am asking you to replace the hook in the next update page with this one, and carry on any remaining step, if you do not mind. Thanks again. One last pharaoh (talk) 13:46, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello again. I suggest that the hook be as follows: ... that Egypt's Fahd APC has numerous variants ranging from an IFV to a command post vehicle, making it possible to form independent units capable of dealing with different threats? One last pharaoh (talk) 14:59, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

It is less than 200 characters long, it is mentioned, and reliably cited in the article. One last pharaoh (talk) 15:02, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
The hook, as promoted is "... that Egypt's Fahd Armored Personnel Carrier has specialized variants ranging from an infantry fighting vehicle to a command post vehicle to deal with different threats?" which is a slight reworking of the proposed alt hook editied to be shorter, punchier, and clearer (explaining "IFV"). Is there a specific issue with this version? - Dravecky (talk) 15:13, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice. - AnakngAraw (talk) 23:03, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi Dravecky

Don't know if you've seen the above-captioned article. While it may not be a perfect article yet, its subject is fascinating, and it's thoroughly referenced. Any suggestions for how to improve it?

Best Bongomatic 14:32, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

I had seen it and done a tiny bit of work on it about a day ago. There are small expansions that could be made throughout the article. Another sentence or two about recommencing operations at the mill, a couple of sentences about the Ovencrafters company, and so on. I know "Alan Scott" is a tough name to search on Google but some of the other search terms might yield better results. - Dravecky (talk) 16:15, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Parc naturel régional d'Armorique

Hi Dravecky, May I please ask you what happen to my DYK nomination. It was there no more. I put it back. Was it declined? Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 17:08, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

It's in Queue 4 awaiting promotion to the front page in the next 24 hours. - Dravecky (talk) 18:22, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
May I please ask for your help? Could you please move DYK Parc naturel régional d'Armorique from queue number 4 to any later queue at your choice and use this image File:Mont Saint-Michel de Brasparts1.jpg that was in my original nomination with it? DYK will win from this image present.Thank you very much for your time and your help and your time.--Mbz1 (talk) 20:54, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
I appreciate your interest but since DYK can only use 4 images per day and a dozen or more can be nominated each day not every nominated image can be used with its hook. I also appreciate that being in the top spot may draw more attention to your article but, if I may be blunt, at 100px the small gray building is not a "grabber" of an image. - Dravecky (talk) 21:18, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, this is last the thing I have to add for the matter. The image that is in queue number 4 should have been uploaded to Commons. Englisw Wikipedia do not allow to upload images from Flickr. Please see here: 2. Using this image at the main page might give a bad example. Thank you for your time.--Mbz1 (talk) 05:07, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

The credits are done and the picture is protected. Thanks. - Dravecky (talk) 05:59, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Excellent. By the way, do you know what server hosted the bot? Was it Wikipedia's servers, the toolserver...? If I make a new one from scratch I can't keep my computer running all the time just for the bot. Shubinator (talk) 06:01, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
I believe it was the toolserver but that may have been part of the problem. - Dravecky (talk) 06:02, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm...interesting. If the problem isn't in the code, I'm not sure building a new bot would help. Anyways, I won't be able to start the bot until mid-March at the earliest; we'll see if nixeagle can get the adminbot up by then. Shubinator (talk) 06:06, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

DYK credit

Hello, Dravecky. May I please ask you why only I was given the credit for the article from the four creators listed in my initial nomination? | creator = user:Herbythyme | creator2 = Mbz1 | creator3 = user:Invertzoo | creator4 = user:Manxruler. Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 20:20, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

While a good argument could be made for the contributions of Invertzoo (and I have added a credit tag to their user page) the other two editors made only very minor edits to the article in question. Credit tags are only for the major contributors to an article, not every editor who happens to touch it during the nomination period. - Dravecky (talk) 20:29, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for the response and adding the tag to Invertzoo talk page. Cannot agree about two other users. user:Herbythyme took the images used in the article, and I used the description they made.user:Manxruler explained to me how to work with references not only in the article itself, but also on their talk page, which IMO might be considered as the contributions to the article. I'm sorry to bother you with this. It is my last message on the matter, but I had to say it. Thank you for your time.--Mbz1 (talk) 21:00, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome to personally thanks Manxruler for their help with a hug, a cookie, a barnstar, or whatever but only direct contributions to the prose of the specific article are eligible for a DYK credit tag. - Dravecky (talk) 21:05, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

You do have a valid point: With all the work you've put in at DYN, I imagine either the radio station wikiproject, your personal life, or both have taken a hit since you got the bit. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 21:25, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
It's the radio project that's taken it on the nose. I've been able to do some routine stuff like rescuing orphans and radio stub sorting but content creation is through the floor. One good barometer is the number of articles I created that had a DYK worthy fact in them in December vs January vs February. I thought I'd turn it around with the bot back in operation but it's dead again so no joy there. The good news is that several other folks are stepping up to keep things going this time so it's less of a one-man band. - Dravecky (talk) 21:29, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

DYN notices on artlcle talk pages can include hooks

The third anonymous parameter and the entry= parameter both do the job. See my update to Talk:Isaiah Jones, Jr. and my update to the Template:Dyktalk (doc). davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 00:57, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm aware of the possibility—when the bot is working, it usually adds the hook to the credit tag—but it's an optional complication to an already complex and time-consuming task. If you or any other editor would care to take the time to add the hooks to each and every credit tag then I would both support your decision and applaud your efforts. - Dravecky (talk) 04:50, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
I've done so on my own and in the past have done so with others. Is there anything I can do to get the bot working again? I'd be willing to run it in supervised/confirm-edit mode if that's what it takes. As I'm not bot-approved I refuse to run it automatically. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 15:58, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:WLWI-AM logo.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

 • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
 • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 08:06, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Gah, I had told the fair use template that the graphic was in use at WLWI when it's really at WLWI (AM). This has been fixed and the resolved tag has been removed. - Dravecky (talk) 09:04, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

DYK for Prairie Bluff, Alabama

Updated DYK query On 21 February, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Prairie Bluff, Alabama, which you recently nominated. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Gatoclass (talk) 05:03, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for nominating it! :) Altairisfartalk 15:59, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

The DYK Medal
For doing so much to keep the DYK project running smoothly over the last three months, I hereby award you the coveted DYK medal! Congratulations, Gatoclass (talk) 05:21, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

About time you scored one of these :) Cheers, Gatoclass (talk) 05:21, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! It's very nice to be appreciated. - Dravecky (talk) 07:40, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

dyk

Nothing odd or unusual ... I couldnt decide which was older and thought the important thing was to get a set loaded even if it wasn't the oldest as I only had a small amount of time but very aware that you guys had been doing a lot of work for dyk recently and you deserve a rest if only a short one. Victuallers (talk) 22:08, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Oh. That's why this dynamic sentence is at the top of the queues page "The next update will be produced from queue 3." and there's a "next update" counter on every active queue to alert the promoting admin what's up next. No worries, we'll just do 2 next then 4. Thanks for jumping in to help out; it's very much appreciated. - Dravecky (talk) 23:02, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for doing the update...I was just about to grab an admin. Want me to do credits? Shubinator (talk) 03:29, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

No worries, they're done now. Thanks for the offer. - Dravecky (talk) 03:42, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:WLJS-FM logo.png)

Thanks for uploading File:WLJS-FM logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:13, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

File had been improperly removed from article, now restored. - Dravecky (talk) 06:03, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, seemed someone created a "new" logo for WLJS and added it. I readded the logo and reverted all information that that user changed. Might want to watchlist that page. - NeutralHomerTalk • February 24, 2009 @ 06:23
Done, and I've restored the text that IP editors had deleted without comment plus done a bit of cleanup on that text. The article probably needs some loving attention but I'm just too short of time right now to give it more than this cursory repair. - Dravecky (talk) 06:27, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
I would, if I had knowledge of the area and station, but it is a little far outside my range of expertise. I am more Virginia/West Virginia/Maryland/Pennsylvania/DC. Maybe put a note on WP:WPRS asking for a little help on fixing the ol' page up :) Take Care and Have a Great Tuesday...NeutralHomerTalk • February 24, 2009 @ 06:34

Hi, could you make inter links for two words in the hook for Wonsam, such as robe and nobility? Thanks.--Caspian blue 15:45, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

I see that Daniel Case has already taken care of this. - Dravecky (talk) 15:58, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Thanks anyway, I though you're offline.--Caspian blue 16:08, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

International status and usage of the euro: IAR?

Dear Dravecky

I recently failed a DYK nomination of International status and usage of the euro, since it lost out on being a new article due to the fact it was nominated 9 days after creation. However, you promoted the article to next update on account of IAR. May I ask why you felt IAR applied? Allventon (talk) 18:51, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

I have seen that you have edited quite heavily in the time between now and when I left this notification; I must confess I am concerned as a result. My apologies if you have not responded yet for a good reason. Allventon (talk) 19:07, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
I was in the middle of doing credits for the manual update of the DYK template. It's an involved process and I did not want to interrupt it for a non-emergency situation. I promoted that hook as the article was well-written, properly referenced, of far more than sufficient length, and created quite recently with all work being done in a 3-4 day window. The precise date of the nomination is the least important of the factors determining a hook's eligibility, as long as it's within a fairly narrow time-window. Since we're still processing hooks for articles created on the 13th, promoting a hook for an above-average article created on the 15th-18th is within the bounds of reason. If the article was sub-standard or merely average I would have probably let it fail out but since the purpose of DYK is to showcase the best of the new articles it seemed almost a crime to let this one get away on a minor technicality. - Dravecky (talk) 19:16, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
I apologize for pressuring you to respond; I was very concerned because I did not see why this article warranted IAR, and I wished to resolve that promptly. Still, no excuse, I guess I got hot feet. I understand your rational, and I am sorry for troubling you. Allventon (talk) 19:23, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
No worries. Thanks for helping out at DYK. The more folks evaluating hooks, the better it is for the whole project. - Dravecky (talk) 19:26, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

DYK for WNUZ

Updated DYK query On February 24, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article WNUZ, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

I've added a link to User:DYKadminBot/count to the T:DYK/Q page. I got sick of scratching around to find this page to update it, and I figured maybe other people might feel the same way :) Gatoclass (talk) 17:18, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Heh...whaddya think of this? (Note the edit summary) Shubinator (talk) 02:40, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Hey, that's a start. I'll be very happy when it can do the whole enchilada. - Dravecky (talk) 02:51, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, me too. I can probably get it to do the admin stuff (updating from queue, resetting time, clearing queue, bumping next queue number) very soon; within 2 weeks seems very reasonable. There are some sticky issues though with getting the bot approved, mainly because I'm not an admin and adminbots have to be operating by an admin. However...possibly you or Gatoclass could actually run it? That way I never get the password. As I envision it now the bot will run on your computer...so your comp has to be running and connected to the internet for it to work. Later I can put it on a server, but let's take things one step at a time. Let me know what you think. Shubinator (talk) 02:59, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Not too shabby, eh? Shubinator (talk) 04:48, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm looking for an admin to run the bot if/when it gets finished. I don't want to clutter up your talk page, so I've made another page. Respond there, here, or on my talk page. I've sent a similar message to Gatoclass. Shubinator (talk) 00:57, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hi Dravecky, Thanks for making the changes I suggested to the page for radio station KLTI. IF I can find verifiable information on the stations history, I plan to add it at some point in the future, perhaps with logo's, etc. I'm an old radio guy myself, working for 21 yrs at KIRX, KRXL, & KTUF in Kirksville, Mo., so this Wiki radio project is right up my alley. MAY I ASK A FAVOR? (that is if you're not tied up with your MLB spring training, lol). I recently made my first attempt to create a wiki page for radio station KIRX. I hope to add some images of logo & station airstaff, etc. in the coming days if I can meet the rather draconian Wiki Commons image rules. You have much more experience at page creation and editing than me, so I'd appreciate if you could give the page a look-see and offer any advice or constructive critique on changes needed. Much thanks!Sector001 (talk) 18:47, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

The logo is almost certainly not going to be able to be uploaded to commons unless the copyright is released to the public domain. You're much better off uploading it to the main English-language Wikipedia as the logo of an organization, the usual practice for radio station logos. I'll take a look at the KIRX article later this afternoon. - Dravecky (talk) 18:54, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

1886 Michigan Wolverines football team

Thanks for your offer on the Prettyman/1886 team split. I think the alt hook that you selected was the better choice, and I'm fine with just leaving the 1886 team out of DYK. Prettyman is the more interesting article, and I appreciate your promoting it. Cheers. Cbl62 (talk) 23:47, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Awesome. I'll work it in as soon as practical. - Dravecky (talk) 02:19, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Boaz mastodon

I was delighted to receive your announcement that my article on the Boaz mastodon had been selected for DYK for today, Feb. 27, but the article is not mentioned in today's DYK. Is it possible it will appear another day? Bootboy41 (talk) 12:41, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

DYK is updated every six hours, so hooks don't stay up for the whole day. The Boaz mastodon article was featured on DYK on the 27th (see here). Thanks for contributing! Shubinator (talk) 16:08, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Confused

Cbl62 is confused and so am I. He just came to make a reply about Godefroid Munongo which you removed here I think. You said that it had not been touched in nine days. True. I (the author) made my last comment .... nine days ago when I addressed the concerns, lengthened the article and added two academic based references to support the hook fact. Cbl62 made a comment 24 hours ago... which I wrote to him about and he has replied. The idea that we can delete hooks if the author takes no notice was mu idea. Its not meant to allow people to delete a hook that had no outstanding comments bar am enquiry that was addressed within 24 hours. I am not sure you have followed procedure as I would expect it to be rejected and the reasons given first. Can you reconsider your position please Victuallers (talk) 18:32, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

I've restored this hook nomination, per your request. - Dravecky (talk) 19:23, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
thx Victuallers (talk) 12:09, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Sorry for giving you thanks, I see here that your assurances of a restoration were lacking integrity. Unimpressed. Victuallers (talk) 17:17, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
I said I would restore it and, as promised, I did. That does not preclude me from expressing my opinion on the hook. I've personally promoted a great many of your hooks but I can't say that this one is up to your usual high standard. - Dravecky (talk) 18:25, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
The hook was ultimately deleted by Awadewit nearly a full day after I had restored it. - Dravecky (talk) 06:19, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
