Copyright problem[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Fadewwiki! Your additions to Laksam Upazila have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. --Worldbruce (talk) 06:25, 16 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not minor edits[edit]

Information icon Hi Fadewwiki! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Laksam Upazila that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information.

Unsourced and unattributed language like "The city of Laksam is known as a commercial city", which neither imparts nor plainly summarizes verifiable information, is unacceptable. Commerce takes place in all towns. Laksam is not particularly known for it. Do not add insipid statements in an attempt to make a subject seem important. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:34, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Repeated copyright problems[edit]

Copyright problem icon Your edit to Laksam Upazila has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. --Worldbruce (talk) 13:47, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there, I do understand that you are somebody whose draft I declined in the past or got your article deleted. See WP:HOUNDING and don't place templates on the article just for the purpose of taking revenge. Your account is not even a month old and I do have reasons to believe that you are involved in WP:SOCKPUPPETRY. Regards. Hitro talk 14:24, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Now I fully am aware and understand what led to my restrictions, and repent my actions, I should've been more careful and understandable while making edits on Wikipedia. But there's another side to that story, I believe my continuous copyright violations of text got me blocked, all of them occurred in the article titled:Laksam Upazila. Now, that article was a stub, I expanded the article by adding information, most of the content on that page was inserted by me, in the past some of which got removed and I got warned about the possible copyright violation. And I did another little same-mistake on that page yesterday by creating the "Rivers" section. Now, I got all the texts from the same article whic is on BN Wikipedia,(https://bn.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%A6%B2%E0%A6%BE%E0%A6%95%E0%A6%B8%E0%A6%BE%E0%A6%AE_%E0%A6%89%E0%A6%AA%E0%A6%9C%E0%A7%87%E0%A6%B2%E0%A6%BE) and all I did was to translate and insert them into English Wikipedia. Now, I was sure that the texts must have been copyright-free since they are already on another Wikipedia. And the reason for me being so assured also has many things to do with my other articles. Care to check out articles that I've written. Only a handful of articles are originally written by me, most of them are semi translated from the BN wiki (well since I can't use the machine translation 100%, due to its inaccuracy and Wikipedia's translation guidelines, I manually paraphrased them myself since I understand the BN language, also added many new elements to the English articles which weren't in the Bn version; such as citations, images, tables, infobox, data's, etc, also sometimes improved the BN article by adding citations, data's or by general fix). Now almost every other articles created by me (except a few original ones as I said before) are somehow semi-translated from the BN wiki. So, I believe the rules and regulations are the same for every Wiki? Right? So, why then it has become an apple of discord? If these are copyrighted materials, they wouldn't exist on the BN wiki in the first place, when they do, I got the green signal that I can insert these in the En wiki as well with a little manual re-cap. Now, the main website that I've been showed to violate the copyright of is itself written in BN language, hence the few sentences which I translated and inserted into the "Rivers" section of the article titled Laksam Upazila must be copyright free. Now, if not, then why they are on the BN wiki? Shouldn't they be removed as well? They have better reasons to be since the language of both of the websites (BN wiki and The main website laksam.comilla.gov.bd) are the same? If there's anything to that, then you guys should delete almost every single article of mine except a few ones. I know it would make me sound stupid if I said: All I had were good intentions, I tried to add more to en wiki and expand some stubs. I wouldn't violate any copyright materials by intention. And as you can tell already I'm pretty new to Wikipedia, like been only less than a month. Now, I'm trying to make myself get acquainted with Wikipedia's rules, regulations, terms...whatever you call it- every single day. All I can do or say is no mistakes would happen ever again from me further-on. And about the image violation on Wikimedia, I already talked about it on the user worldbruce's talk page once, I was very new at that time and since then I haven't been active on Wikimedia. I know Wikipedia is not a place for newbies like I should practice on my sandbox before I start editing live articles, but if someone among you guys took some time to reinspect all the 440 odd edits I made or 25 odd articles I created, I guess you wouldn't find these blatant. I'm new, I'm learning new things every day. I love to contribute to Wikipedia, all I can say that no mistakes would happen in the future like happened in the past. If something happens, just ban me? But I don't want that to happen. And if I get the chance, "it won't happen." [Forgive my naiveness with the appeal, I know my choices of words weren't conventional or the appropiate ones since I have no previous experience on that.] Fadew-wiki 21:01, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
