Please help me with... regarding conflict of interest I just started editing on Wikipedia a couple of days ago, and it appears that I have violated the conflict of interest guidelines. I apologize for plunging into editing without doing more research about Wikipedia policies. I am an employee of the Buffett Early Childhood Institute, which is headed by Samuel J. Meisels. There are some issues with the Wikipedia article about Mr. Meisels, and I was instructed to see if I could address them. In the "view history," you can see what changes I've made and undo them or whatever you see fit. Following is a summary of my edits, and the reasoning behind them:
- The very first edits I made were fixing two typos in the last sentence under the "Professional Positions" section (this doesn't address problems flagged at the top of the article, but they jumped out at me).
- Next, I added two references covering Meisels's move from Erikson Institute to BECI (Education Week article, and Meisels's bio on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) website). I was doing this to address one flagged concern, about two many references from primary sources. On April 10, in the Work Sampling System section of the Meisels article, I added a reference/link to a Slate magazine article contrasting conventional standardized testing with the Work Sampling System.
- To address the "orphan" page status, I went into Erikson Institute article on April 9 and added more detail on Erikson's current president, Geoffrey Nagle, and noted that he succeeded Meisels, who left for BECI. Then I added link to the Meisels article. On April 10, I went into University of Nebraska system article to add leaders of the four university-wide institutes, and included a link to the Meisels article.
Again, I'm sorry for making these edits myself. I will not make any more edits myself. If I understand the policy correctly, what I should have done/can do going forward is to suggest changes using the talk page, and again disclosing my conflict of interest.
