Moves without consensus

[edit]

Please see the discussion here and gain a better understanding of before moving articles. You can use WP:RM for future requests. I do not have time to repair all the other faulty moves you have made; hopefully someone else will. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 09:49, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Idmsdmsalescaleneiviq! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at 2022 Jubba Airways crash that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Please also stop the moves as instructed above. WikiHannibal (talk) 15:52, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:56, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Air Inter Flight 148

[edit]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Air Inter Flight 148 shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. August 2023

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. — kashmīrī TALK 15:36, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please NEVER move pages that are currently featured in the news on the main Wikipedia page without getting a consensus. — kashmīrī TALK 15:47, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Kashmiri:! Could you give me a reason as to why the proposed title had any reasonable opposition? The talk page here: [1] states that the proposed title should be considered. I felt that I gave a good reason but I require you to kindly respond back. Thanks!

Idmsdmsalescaleneiviq (talk) 16:00, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  1. The discussion has just started and consensus is far from forming at the moment,
  2. The article is currently linked to from Main Page,
  3. The title you moved the article to was neither agreed on nor even proposed.
Any rename requires consensus, especially that WP:AVTITLE permits flexibility and the current title is perfectly acceptable. — kashmīrī TALK 16:46, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Alaska Airlines Flight 2059 page move

[edit]

Hello. I wanted to know why you moved the page Alaska Airlines Flight 2059 to Horizon Air Flight 2059. From what I can see, most reliable sources refer to the flight using the former identification, including Alaska Airlines itself, the owner of Horizon Air: "Alaska Airlines Flight 2059 operated by Horizon Air". Thanks, Nythar (💬-🍀) 08:59, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Nythar: Hey, thank you for the message! I moved this page to Horizon Air Flight 2059 because the airframe was a Horizon Air frame and I wanted to keep some consistency between other Horizon Air incidents since we already have the 2018 Horizon Air Q400 incident and the upcoming page of Horizon Air Flight 2658. Horizon Air also uses the '2xxx' flight code in contrast to Alaska Airlines and since the flight number was QX2059/QXE2059 and not AS2059/ASA2059. Even the callsign was HORIZON 2059 and not ALASKA 2059: [2]. I do understand the WP:COMMONNAME guideline, but the reason why I do not appreciate Alaska Airlines Flight 2059 is because the media unfortunately wants attention and since an Alaska Airlines incident is more eye-catching title than a Horizon Air incident, the news tends to report it so. This is not necessarily what Wikipedia should be following. For instance, many reliable news reports called Aeroméxico Connect Flight 2431 as "Aeroméxico Flight 2431". Although you may argue that "Aeroméxico" is the common name, it is misleading to call this an "Aeroméxico" crash since the flight number was SLI2431 and not AMX2431 since this is a subsidiary of Aeroméxico: [3], [4], [5]. Even official sources just want attention than accuracy, and calling this an Alaska Airlines flight is misleading since Horizon Air operated this flight, evidently with the aforementioned flight number and callsign. Alaska airlines merely needs to grab attention and so that is why they named it so. Wikipedia does not bother with this. Plus, this isn't a mainstream Alaska Airlines incident, it was from its regional subsidiary Horizon Air which once again, has its own dedicated callsign and flight number.

Just because some news source doesn't know the difference between a regional and a mainstream flight, doesn't mean that we too should term it so. If you don't mind, could I move the page back to Horizon Air Flight 2059? Would appreciate it. Also, Horizon Air Flight 2059 isn't uncommon across the media:[6], [7], [8], [9] Thanks & Waiting for your reply!

Idmsdmsalescaleneiviq (talk) 15:21, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for responding. In this case I can't move the article to an already-existing redirect, and since your move was reverted by another editor a move request is the only option. Regards, Nythar (💬-🍀) 15:58, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Nythar: I've not had much luck with move requests on Wikipedia. For moves regarding the accuracy of aviation incidents, no matter how much of a good rationale I present, snarky editors often try to push the WP:COMMONNAME guideline and extend it beyond what it was meant for. For instance, I've tried to move the page Air Inter Flight 148 to Air Inter Flight 5148 because the flight number was incorrect while receiving oppositions from editors, stating that it went against the commonname guideline. At first glance, it may seem like it did, but looking closer at what the guideline states, it mentions to avoid inaccurate names which no one bothered to recognise. You can check it out at the Talk Page of Air Inter Flight 148. I'll move this page briskly again, and if objections continue, I'll put forth my views on the Talk Page. Would that be reasonable? Thanks! Idmsdmsalescaleneiviq (talk) 16:22, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Air Europa, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Jetstreamer Talk 14:20, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Jetstreamer: Hello! I'm reinstating my claim that Air Europa has taken delivery of a new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (EC-ODH). FlightRadar24 confirms this: [10]. If any objections as to why you feel Air Europa has 8 Dreamliners still on order, please let me know.Although a little off-track, the Spanish Wiki also does mention the delivery of this new airliner: [11] Thanks! You made the recent changes without adding a new source. Hence, your changes were unsourced. Please read WP:V.--Jetstreamer Talk 12:47, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Post-move clean-up

[edit]

Hello. I've noticed that your editing on Wikipedia mostly consists of moving pages. However, you do not seem to be doing the clean-up required after moving a page. A page move is not as simple as just moving the page. The most common thing you have to fix to update the templates so that they do not link a redirect (per WP:NAVNOREDIRECT) and show in bold in the article. For example, you moved 1962 Taurus Mountains Turkish Airlines F-27 crash which I created, but when you go to the bottom of the page and look at the templates the article is not in bold because the templates still use a redirect. You can find all templates by clicking on "What links here" from the original title, so in this case 1962 Turkish Airlines Taurus Mountains crash. That yields three results, which you have to update before moving on to the next article. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the guide. Thanks. Styyx (talk) 12:18, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Styyx:, Thank you for your response. All my future page moves will adhere to these remarks accordingly. GalacticOrbits (talk) 08:47, 25 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Air India fleet

[edit]

The Airbus source I meant is source number 23 in the article. I see you have added a source contradicting it. Thanks. Arnav Bhate (talk) 07:38, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Arnav Bhate: Hi, thanks for the reply! Soon after I made those edits, I understood which source you were referring to. I think what's going on here is that Air India has indeed taken 6 Airbus A350s but has only inducted 2 A350s (VT-JRA & VT-JRB) into service. The remaining four-built are currently undergoing cabin modifications, either at Toulouse or at Teruel or at Singapore solely by Air India's maintenance & fleet services division. These changes were also imminent as these first 6 A350-900s featured full Aeroflot cabins as these frames were originally slated for the russian airline: [12]. It seems that the term "delivery" in the eyes of Airbus is when the aircraft is off of Airbus' hands and no further testing is done by them. Plus, Wikipedia generally relies on secondary sources. Once again, Thanks! GalacticOrbits (talk) 10:24, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was on your side on the Air Europa Flight 045 but this new accident isn't notable 2605:8D80:400:9392:5CEB:6B74:8EBC:82B6 (talk) 17:09, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the response, but I humbly request you to stop poking other editors, in particular User:Rosbif73. Also, could you elaborate as to why this article is not notable? Furthermore, please stop reverting my edits to the "Oppose" vs "Comment" vs "Keep" votes. User:Borgenland clearly intended to Oppose the deletion request as seen in this edit: [13]. Oppose in other words means Keep the article and not Comment, and that's exactly what I was trying to correct in this edit: [14]. GalacticOrbits (talk) 17:21, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies I was came out of a support or oppose talk. I did mean to say Keep. Now that you’ve mentioned it, it is further ludicrous that an anonymous IP would think an incident involving no fatalities and hull loss is more notable than a hull loss with loss of life. Borgenland (talk) 17:25, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Jetstreamer: I'm sorry but what? I merely updated the fleet size which per the Ethiopian Airlines fleet page, is 158. I even mentioned this in my edit summary. Further, the block warning is quite an extravagance. GalacticOrbits (talk) 15:48, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
