August 2018[edit]

Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that in this edit to Draft:Zander Shine, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:19, 6 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Oshwah! I'm new to Wikipedia, I was just trying to help edit information for my client, Zander. Do you have any insight on how I can do that?

We don't want people earning money on the back of our volunteer work that goes into creating this encyclopedia, and spending our time keeping paid-for articles out of it. Sorry. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:06, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I totally understand, I'm actually not getting paid for this, I'm his agent for social media, pr, etc. I just know for any bio to be added it needs to be unbiased. And I'm also his brother, so I'm just trying to see what I can do. Thanks!

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, JacobDickman. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:08, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, everything you're saying makes complete sense and is valid. How does one get a biography? For instance my father is famous and has a Wiki page bio, but just would appreciate insight because I'm not trying to advertise anything, there is already information about Zander, and articles on Forbes, ESPN, etc so just curious what is reasonable and what is not in regards to appropriateness of Wiki standards since I'm new. I just don't really fully understand even after reading those prompts. Any helpful advice would be much appreciated! (:
