Manitoba

[edit]

Thanks for your message on my talk page about Manitoba. While all federal government services are available in both official Canadian languages, three provinces are not officially bilingual: Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. I left this source, which seems pretty reliable. If my source is wrong please let me know. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:26, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Jonathan Moore

[edit]

In this particular instance, if it's entirely copy-paste from his own website then we have to delete it as a copyright violation. This does not prevent a new article from being created about him again in the future if he can be shown to pass WP:GNG, but even if the necessary level of sourcing could be shown the entire article would still have to be rewritten from scratch as original content anyway — so it would fall under the principle of WP:TNT, also known as "blow it up and start over". Marchmont (novel)

[edit]

Hi there, replying to the message you left on my talk page. I have not edited anything on the Charlotte Smith disambiguation page. I think you must be referring to the link I fixed on Marchmont (novel) article. First, the manual of style page you linked on my talk page is not actually a policy page, that's a talk page. If you want to read up on linking policy, it's WP:MOSLINK. My edit was based on what I've seen more experienced editor do over the last 8 years, but from reading the policy, I don't know for sure if it's correct with the apostrophe, so if you don't agree with my edit, you have the option to revert. Just don't put Charlotte Smith back in the article, that's a disambiguation page listing all the different Charlotte Smith articles. The one you are referring to is Charlotte Turner Smith, which could also be written as Charlotte Smith if you don't like using the full article name. If you need help with anything else, feel free to leave a message on my talk page, and I will see what I can do. Cmr08 (talk) 06:04, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New 10,000 Challenge for Canada

[edit]

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

PPRC

[edit]

Thanks for that. It was a pretty obvious revert — even if it is a real thing, which I doubt, it still can't have an article if it's so secret as to be virtually unsourceable — but fixing it wasn't just a simple revert. It also required moving the page back to its original title and deleting the resulting redirect, and you wouldn't have been able to undertake those steps as a regular user. I've looked after it accordingly. Bearcat (talk) 04:10, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Robot fish

[edit]

Sorry about that, dropped offline before I could respond to your message, and had already started cleaning the article up before I saw it. Don't take that as an endorsement of anything - if there's any close paraphrasing there, stick a {{close paraphrasing}} template on the sections in question to flag it up. It'd also be worth contacting the editor to let them know that they shouldn't be doing this. --McGeddon (talk) 09:24, 13 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bellevue murders

[edit]

Thanks for the notes on my edit; esp. as a new Wikipedian, I appreciate the feedback. Because Baranyi and Anderson otherwise had been referred to as "the boys," I assumed in that case it also referred to them. I will be sure to check my edits against the source material more carefully next time. Shmack1001 (talk) 03:18, 19 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Peace Corps medical restrictions by country, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Macedonia, Tunisian and Georgia. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion declined: Leta Sobierajski

[edit]

Hello Nerdgoonrant, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Leta Sobierajski, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: creating designs for notable companies indicates significance (see also Google News hits). If you are interested in learning more about how speedy deletion works, I have compiled a list of helpful pages at User:SoWhy/SDA. You can of course also contact me if you have questions. Thank you. Speedy deletion declined: Jeff Pitchell

[edit]

Hello Nerdgoonrant. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Jeff Pitchell, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Subject might be important/significant (see also Google News/Books hits for this subject) / use WP:PROD or WP:AFD instead to allow other editors to participate in this decision. Thank you. SoWhy 12:20, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
