Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited MK-2048, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Merck (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Disambiguation pages are here to direct readers to Wikipedia articles. We do not add non-existent articles to disambiguation pages. We do not add references to disambiguation pages. We do not add more than one link to a single disambiguation. Please ensure you understand WP:D before making changes to any further disambiguation pages.

If, by chance, you are making a change to Wikipedia because you have a personal stake in the topic that you are adding or changing in Wikipedia, then you have a conflict of interest and you should not make the change. Let someone else do it. See WP:COI.

Articles are modified to make improvements. If the only change to an article is to adjust white space, change "==Heading==" to "== Heading ==", or change "mdash;" to "—", then this is not an improvement, this is a null change. Do not make only null changes to an article.

Please consider making improvements to the content of Wikipedia. Pick a subject that interests you and locate the Wikipedia articles for it, then locate new information in secondary sources (i.e. at the library or in newspapers) pertaining to that subject. This way the article is improved with new information that is reliably sourced (WP:RS). Good luck. Prhartcom (talk) 20:45, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

@Prhartcom: Wow. That is the most patronising thing I have read in a very long time.
You do realise I've been editing on the English Wikipedia for a few months short of a decade now, right? That I'm fully aware of the COI policy, having written an essay on the subject? That your opinion on gnome edits (which are not null edits, by the way) is precisely that — merely an opinion — and contrary to Advisor, a very popular editing utility?
If you'd bothered to step away from your self-righteous opinions as to what sorts of editing other editors "should" be making, you'd have noticed that I have made plenty of improvements to the content of Wikipedia, that I have raised an article to GA status, for example, so it's self-evident that I know how to use reliable sources to add primary content.
Articles are modified for many reasons. If the only change to an article is to make small amends that don't appear to you to be better, that doesn't mean that they are not improvements. Removing HTML escapes, systematising the spacing in headings, adding language tagging, correcting display titles and so on are all useful improvements — they're just minor improvements. Minor improvements are just as important as content expansions in making a clear, professional encyclopædia. Do not revert minor improvements to articles.
Many editors make all kinds of edits at different times. Please consider not patronising editors because you fail to see the value in their edits. You mind find it useful to read some more of Wikipedia's policies, such as our guides on etiquette, how to be civil and how to assume good faith.
Can I suggest that we both try to ignore each other's work for a while, to avoid any perception of wikihounding?
Thank you. —OwenBlacker (Talk) 21:50, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

A cup of coffee for you!

Thanks for signing on to WikiProject AIDS. I saw you tagging articles with that project template.

Wow! You are in London! Will you go to Wikimania? Have you seen the upcoming Wellcome Wikipedia event? They have awesome historical HIV media which we want to upload to Wikipedia. They are asserting opening licensing on it but there is some second guessing - see their collection. Message me if you want to talk about HIV and Wikipedia. Thanks! Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:27, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

@Bluerasberry: Mmmm, coffee. I might go to Wikimania, yes, but I can't make the Wellcome event, unfortunately. Maybe I'll see you at Wikimania? :o) — OwenBlacker (Talk) 14:42, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

An RfC that you may be interested in...

As one of the previous contributors to {{Infobox film}} or as one of the commenters on it's talk page, I would like to inform you that there has been a RfC started on the talk page as to implementation of previously deprecated parameters. Your comments and thoughts on the matter would be welcomed. Happy editing!

Hi! Just a quick update that while JSTOR and The Wikipedia Library discuss expanding the partnership, they've gone ahead and extended the pilot access again, until May 31st. Thanks, JSTOR!

It would be really helpful for growing the program if you would fill out this short survey about your usage and experience with JSTOR:

Reverse-transcriptase inhibitor

Why do you think that the article on Reverse-transcriptase inhibitors is outdated? I haven't worked on the article, but as someone who's familiar with the subject it appears quite up to date. Pgcudahy (talk) 11:27, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

@Pgcudahy: To be quite honest, I'm not sure now. I'm rather irritated with myself for not having put a note on the Talk: page too. I can only assume that it was the lack of mentions of experimental treatments that are testing well. — OwenBlacker (Talk) 20:21, 9 April 2014 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Pride 2014

Hi OwenBlacker. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:41, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

LGBT Meetup

Hello,

You are receiving this notice because you expressed interest in attending the Wikimania 2014 LGBT Meetup.

There is currently an ongoing discussion on Meta about where the LGBT meetup should take place and how it should be conducted. A lot of enthusiasm has been expressed for meeting at a friendly LGBT venue, though unfortunately there aren't many within the vicinity of the Barbican Centre, meaning that an evening trip out may be in order. So far we have been provisionally booked into Frobisher 6 for 18:30 on Saturday 9 August, so we could use this room as a starting point.

Your participation in this discussion will be welcome. Time unfortunately is against us, so a decision will need to be made soon. CT Cooper · talk 00:40, 7 August 2014 (UTC)
