Hello, great start, took almost no tweaking to approve, though getting the WP:Categories precisely right took me a moment since I'm not British so had to sort through the category-tree here. You've a good start, and you are published, but the article could easily be greatly strengthened.

 • Are their any drawings/engravings/portraits of him from his lifetime? If so, they're quite out of copyright, so adding an image of him would help a ton.
 • You're missing a lot of facts about his life; I took just a quick glance at GoogleBooks and you can persuse dozens and dozens of books which mention his life and career. Take a look at gBooks, find more citable facts about him, and add them to the article with footnote. Note you can save a lot of effort as any GoogleBooks link (once you go inside of the book, not a search link) can be instantly converted to a full footnote using http://reftag.appspot.com . He apparently had some whole business career you barely mention.
 • Check other articles written about contemporaneous MPs, see what structures/templates/charts etc they include and figure out if those features need to be replicated in this article.
 • Nice work overall, keep pressing and make it a truly strong article. MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:05, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete DYK nomination

[edit]

Hello! Your submission of Template:Did you know nominations/The Second Arthur Guinness at the Did You Know nominations page is not complete; see step 3 of the nomination procedure. If you do not want to continue with the nomination, tag the nomination page with db-g7, or ask a DYK admin. Thank you. DYKHousekeepingBot (talk) 15:31, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks it was complicated. I'd like to post some images but if it's that difficult...PatrickGuinness (talk) 17:44, 16 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It is a bot. There is nobody to answer you. It's an automated message. Try asking the guy who reviewed it. ~ R.T.G 14:48, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This will produce this

Posting images in DYK is done when you first use the template form to enter the name of the article and the name of the creator and nominators. Posting images for the article is done like this:

 1. Go to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
 2. Use the upload wizard located in the blue links at the left of the page "Upload"
 3. Come back to WP
 4. Take the name of the file and post something like this "thumb" gives it the border around it which the text is in. You could add |350px if you want to change the automatic size based on the width, and there are some other stuff like hover-over text but that is the basic of how most pics are currently posted

You'd be amazed at the definition a cheap scanner will give you if you figure how to adjust the settings. Also you might want to visit the Graphics Lab WP:GL where they can do some pretty smart things with damaged photos. Good luck with it o/ ~ R.T.G 04:46, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to David Freeman-Mitford, 2nd Baron Redesdale may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
 • Nancy's birth certificate David listed his occupation as: "Honourable".<ref>[http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/books/memoirs-of-a-mitford-girl-26690478.html Independent

DYK

[edit]

It is a shame that The Second Arthur Guinness did not make DYK this time, but the closing reviewer at DYK was impressed with the article and thought, pending some improvements, it was on its way to Good Article status which would refresh the opportunity for DYK. It just needed better referencing in the manner of referencing rather than the quantity,, but as I do not have access to the small shelf of books used in the referencing, I could not perform the improvements, and would have to relate them to you, to complete that, but not with such a daunting effort required.

So, as my uncle has taken to saying, why don't you get back on your milk and drink your horse. It's not so complicated. ~ R.T.G 04:33, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Thomas Davis (Young Irelander), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Irish Parliament. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:42, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
