TfD nomination of Template:NFL HoF

Template:NFL HoF has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for Deletion page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 07:54, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

It seems you've misplaced your message in the discussion. You wanted the discussion above the one in which you posted.--Drat (Talk) 12:40, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Adrian L. Peterson

Just FYI, Peterson has not declared to go to the NFL yet. I won't revert your change and I know it took effort to make the change and the chances of him going are much greater than staying. However, I just felt you should be aware that he has not decided to go Pro yet and that is stated in the article itself.--NMajdantalk 15:10, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Oops, Thank you for letting me know that. --Phbasketball6 19:12, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

What a cool trick!

I just saw the change you made to the birthday field on John Gilmore. Very cool trick. Did you create this function yourself or did you see it used somewhere else? –xanderer 21:06, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, but I didn't create it, I saw it somewhere else. --Phbasketball6 20:46, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Pat Tillman infobox colors

Thanks for making the color for the Arizona Cardinals players infobox but in my opinion the color should be used for only present players, (It could get out of hand, like for Reggie White is it the Eagles or Packers color.) People will see if Tillman has the colors and will think to use it for other former players. With thanks --Phbasketball6 03:43, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

You're right. I've been operating under those same parameters. I guess I was on a roll and just blanked on Tillman. Good catch. —xanderer 13:43, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Lawrence Taylor

I noticed you are a member of the Wikiproject National Football League, I'd like to ask a favor of you. I've done a lot of work recently to improve the Lawrence Taylor article and recently made a request to have it peer reviewed. Would you mind looking it over and giving me advice on what to do next? The peer review page is here. Thanks in advance. Quadzilla99 13:46, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

There's actually a formal process of making an article a GA. I went and nominated it. Please read the Good Article criteria and then see here where I put it it to read about the process. An article has to be made a candidate by an editor and then reviewed and passed based on the criteria by another separate editor who didn't contribute significantly to the article. I didn't look through the history but if you didn't add a lot to it you can review it. Quadzilla99 01:13, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Joe Maniaci

Hey there, I noticed you started an article on this guy but I don't really see anything to write about concerning him. Maybe you'd know better? Iansmcl 02:40, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Do'oh!!!

Thanks for the heads up. I think i just messed up a little on that. I put that in place on Joe Montana and Barry Sanders (and at WP:NFL to try and get some attention for the new infobox. I will add colleges. It would be great if you could chime in at User:Jmfangio/Template:NFLretired if you have any more suggestions. The discussions there have been kind of slow. New NFL infobox

Please don't add these yet, we still have plenty of issues to work out. If you like, get into the discussion on the talk page?

I understand it's frustrating when people undo work of yours that was done with good and honest intentions, but the fact is it was premature editing, and as you can see from the talk page of the template there are many debates about this template that we have collaborated on. This template has not been discussed at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Football League at all, and therefore should not be implemented in a mass number of articles at this point. I understand you're only trying to help, and I appreciate it, but rather than going ahead and adding this template please join the discussion so we can get all the issues settled. After that, we can see about getting this template approved by the community to be the new NFL player template.►Chris Nelson 01:36, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Do you have AIM or anything?►Chris Nelson 02:25, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I do but I don't go on alot --Phbasketball6 03:29, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Oh okay. I actually just wanted to talk about the Pro Bowl thing, but we seem to be in agreement now anyway.►Chris Nelson 03:32, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Can you let me know when I'm able to use the new template? Thanks--Phbasketball6 03:53, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

I would just recommend not doing it until we get everything settled. For example, we now have to fix some color schemes because you did it before we decided to keep one color scheme throughout. Waiting eliminates having to go back and fix any of our work.►Chris Nelson 04:09, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Infobox Discussion

I would appreciate your continued input on the new template. Some more information has been provided by both sides and your thoughts would help. Jmfangio| ►Chat  05:20, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

I was wondering if I might ask you a favor. As you might have seen, I focus on the Miami Dolphins-related articles and have put a lot of work into the current player articles. While I understand anyone can edit Wikipedia and you are free to do anything to these articles, I was wondering if you might let me do the new infoboxes for current Dolphins players. I just really enjoy doing them and I'd like to the Dolphins because of that. I'd really appreciate it, I'm just asking a friendly favor. Also, would you like to maybe split up teams so we can add new infoboxes to a list of teams ourselves?►Chris Nelson 15:40, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Also hey, just wanted to let you know that it was decided a while back that years in the Teams section (Ex. Miami Dolphins (2003-2005)) would not be linked. Just for future reference.►Chris Nelson 15:49, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

You can do all of the Dolphins, thanks for asking, but I already did Trent Green, L. Booker, and R. Brown sorry.

What teams would you like to do? --Phbasketball6 15:54, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

It's cool, I appreciate you letting me do that though. If there's any particular team you want to handle just let me know. Just so I know, how quickly do you think you'd go through teams?►Chris Nelson 15:58, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Just thought of another thing. When linking colleges, let's try to do the football team's article rather than the main University article. I hadn't done this in the past, but I think it'd be better to list [[Indiana Hoosiers football|Indiana]]<nowiki> than just having the Univeristy linked. You cool with that?~~~~ :Crap I don't remember the teams name for College's, I do it anyway, O for each team probably less than an hour. :O, I love the Eagles and Cardinals. ::Then have at it. How about I start with the AFC and you the NFC? As for the colleges, what you can do is just go to the university article. Usually there is an athletics section, and it shouldn't be hard to find a link to the football team. I found [[Indiana Hoosiers football]] by going to [[Indiana University (Bloomington)]] to the athletics section, [[Indiana Hoosiers]] then found the football link.~~~~ :Cool I was thinking the same. ::I was looking at some of your recent edits to make sure we're doing the same exact thing for consistency's sake. Can you remember to write present rather than current when it comes to the current team? Thanks.~~~~ Crap, sorry I completey forgot. Thanks for telling me. --~~~~ ==Another thing== In case you haven't already, please get the colors you used from the team roster templates. [[User:Pats1]] and I have ensured these colors are official so for the sake of consistency we want to get all colors from there. Thanks.~~~~ <nowiki>

Update on status of infobox

Although I have no idea whether this type of thing is even allowed, you might want to redirect your actual TP here. I left you a message there, not realizing there were two talk pages that you use. Also, you might want to go back to "status quo" on infobox uses as Chrisjnelson's continues to argue with me. I understand your hesitation to get back involved with the conversation, that being said - i just thought you should know that these infoboxes are still highly controversial. Jmfangio| ►Chat  03:01, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Listing teams in infobox

Hey, I haven't looked to see how you are handling this, but I wanted to discuss an issue with you. Take a look at Az-Zahir Hakim, in the teams section of the infobox. You'll notice I listed both Lions stints separately. I did this because I view that section as sort of a timeline, and I don't like the idea of having his 2006 Lions stint come before his 2005 Saints stint in the infobox. If a player is currently with a team (Julio Franco, for example) then his current team does not appear at the bottom like most players do. I propose we list out every team so that it flows more as a timeline and does not confuse people by listing a current team in the middle, or having stints out of order. What do you say?►Chris Nelson 18:39, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I like it the Az-Zahir Hakim way, and jeez I forgot the Dolphins got him. --Phbasketball6 23:14, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Okay cool.►Chris Nelson 01:37, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey another thing. Sorry to keep doing this, I just want to make sure we're doing the exact same things for consistency's sake. For the highlights and awards section, I've been putting them in order from earliest to later (see: Cory Schlesinger). I would say this is the best way simply because of how we are listing teams. It seems odd to have one list (teams) go from earliest to latest and the awards section go the opposite way. What do you think?►Chris Nelson 03:09, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

I agree. --Phbasketball6 03:34, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

I've added a birthplace field to the new infobox. Please add this to all future infoboxes you do, as seen at Trent Green. If you don't want to go back and add this to the ones you've already done, don't worry about it. I'm sure I'll check everybody's eventually, and if I see guys with new infoboxes that are missing this I'll add them.►Chris Nelson 05:20, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Just another note

There are some serious issues under dispute right now. You might want to hold off on adding more infoboxes until they are cleared up. I am trying my best not to simply go through and revert the problematic edits, but I'm not sure I can hold back much longer. I do not see you as part of the problem, I just don't want you to get caught in the crossfire so to speak. Jmfangio| ►Chat  07:38, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

To Phbasketball6: I say go for it. I am. No matter how the disputes end (and I've pretty much squashed the biggest just now) we can use the Infobox NFLactive in some fashion so I don't see the harm in adding them.►Chris Nelson 07:41, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
  • I'm not asking for your permission. I am telling you that your continued edits are creating a further problem and you have not "squashed" anything. The 3 opinion was that enough outside input existed that there were better outlets. Please stop forcing me to have discussions with you on another users talk page. Jmfangio| ►Chat  07:46, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Matt McCoy

Hey I saw you added Matt McCoy's new infobox. Looks fine, do you think you could do these things though from now on, some of which I think we've talked about before:

Please use the fields "heightft" and "heightin" instead of the height one. This one does the conversions better. See McCoy's page for how it looks, I've already done it.

  • Also for positions like Guard, which is located at Guard (American football), use the field "currentpositionplain" which lets you link the article yourself. For an example of where I've done it, see Rex Hadnot.

One more thing I've been doing lately, hopefully you'll think it's cool. I've always been in favor of ALL NFL teams a guy has been on being represented, even if it wasn't during the regular season. However, obviously there should be some distinction. That is why I've thought up a way. Check out Darwin Walker or Donnie Spragan for examples and let me know what you think. Thanks for all your work.►Chris Nelson 04:09, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry I was planning on going back to link the College's football team. I was always against having the teams in the infobox if the player never played a regular season game with them. But I love the Donnie Spragan way and I agree with it, great job. Thanks for telling me about the position and height/weight thing. --Phbasketball6 21:52, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Cool! I'm glad you like it. I'd always just put them in there as normal in the past because I couldn't think of anything better, but I like this way a lot. It's nice to have all the teams in the "time line" but to have the distinction about whether they actually played with them or not.►Chris Nelson 21:54, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Stats in infobox=

I've always liked that idea, but I'm not sure many people want it. I don't think Jmfangio liked the idea in the early stages of the template.►Chris Nelson 03:29, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Changing usernames

Hey Phbasketball6, I see that you've moved your user page to Phfootball6 with the move summary of "change the sport in my user name since I like professional football more." This is not the proper way to perform a user name change. Please see WP:RENAME for the proper channels for this. I strongly suggest you request a change if you really want to use that user name and have an admin examine the histories of your two user and user talk pages since, in theory, all of your talk should have gone here and not there. It might be best to do the rename, then start a new, blank user talk page there and create two archives, one for everything that's currently on User talk:Phfootball6 and one for everything that's currently on User talk:Phbasketball6. Thanks, Metros 13:42, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

I have protected your userpage from moving and moved everything back to its original position and restored whatever history there was (as well as copying and pasting the above important message. Undrafted free agents in NFL infobox

Hi, I'm writing you because you have previously posted on Template talk:Infobox NFLactive and I would like your opinion on an addition I made that is being contested. I have added a field to the infobox called "undraftyear", and when a year is entered it adds a line under a guy's college that says "Undrafted in 1997" or whatever year is appropriate. I did this because I felt there should be something noting a guy went undrafted, similar to the info for drafted players that was already in place. To see how this would look in an article, see here or here. If you would be in favor of this edit, I'd ask you to kindly voice this at Template talk:Infobox NFLactive#Undrafted free agents. It is being contested by one person because they feel the year should not be there. I feel the year is important, just as the year of drafting is important. I also feel that since we have an NFL debut section in the infobox as well as a listed of teams and years played for each, it wouldn't cause any confusion. So if you're okay with this edit or you'd like to get in the discussion, I'd encourage you to do so. Thanks!►Chris Nelson 22:19, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Barnstar

The Running Man Barnstar
This barnstar is for your tireless efforts in adding the new NFL infobox to tons of player pages as well as keeping things consistent (which I feel is key). It's also for your efforts in renaming player pages based on the standard disambiguation, which is something that's been needed for a long time. Good job, buddy.►Chris Nelson 02:16, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

I mean no one forced me to do it, I just volunteered to avoid any more of that stuff. Maybe things will cool down enough one day and I can get back into it.►Chris Nelson 05:15, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Hey man, can I ask you a favor on NFL roster templates? In your edit summaries, can you use player names rather than just saying "He was released" and stuff? It just makes it easier when looking at the page's history to see what transactions have been done and when. Thanks.►Chris Nelson 15:55, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

No problem. Thanks--Phbasketball6 20:53, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Robert Hubbard

Just so ya know, Robert Hubbard is an undrafted free agent from Nevada. But it does appear he has been released, so he shouldn't be on the template. Just letting you know he actually exists.►Chris Nelson 03:03, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Super bowl stuff

Hey there, I do remmeber some discussion on the inclusion of super bowl victories in the infobox for a player - it'll take me some time to find it but i can if need be. In any event, the general suggestion was that it should be left out because it was more of a team accomplishment than an individual one. If you have any thoughts, i'll gladly listen. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  01:24, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I know that winning the Super Bowl is a team accomplishment but I also feel that its career highlight for a single player because it is a highlight for the player during his career, and also many times I came across players lots of times to try to remember if he won a Super Bowl ring and instead of having it on the players page, I'll have to search it?, and its not about me I believe many others feel the same. Thanks for listening --Phbasketball6 01:33, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Would it should better if it was Super Bowl ring or maybe even Super Bowl championship team (XXXIV)? --Phbasketball6 01:36, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Yeah, I understand your perspective - and that's what's great about discussion. It sort of starts at the conception of who wins what? The team or the individual. There are a number of 49ers who won the same amount of super bowls as joe montana but they never appeared in a game during the super bowl season - by including super bowls in the highlights you allow for people with no verifiable contribution to the victory in theirs. I'll start looking for it too, but in the meantime - i'm happy to toss a few things back and forth with you if you want. Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  01:38, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Humm... thats a very good point. --Phbasketball6 01:41, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I like the idea of the rings rather than just "super bowls", but this is an interesting thought. I'm still on the side of "it shouldn't be included". In situations like this (things that are universal to all team sports), i try and look and see how others have done things. Michael Jordan and Babe Ruth are always my litmus tests - but i looked at Bill Russell and Wayne Gretzky (guys who were on teams with a ton titles) and i didn't see anything. Still looking for the conversation too. It's toughie - and no right or wrong - just compromise :-) Juan Miguel Fangio| ►Chat  01:43, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I got a good idea (I think), what if we leave that out of the infobox and at the end of each player that was a part of a Super Bowl winning team we put a template like this and have the patrice squad as a group too:

I know its to big but I was thinking of the hide thing Super Bowl XXXIV Championship Roster

The 1999 St. Louis Rams NFL Championship Team

Offensive backs

Receivers

Kickers

Offensive line

Linebackers

Defensive backs

Defensive line

I agree with you, I could deal without it but I thought I could be neat having it. Thanks --Phbasketball6 01:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey, would you like me to remove the Super Bowl stuff for the players info boxes? Thanks--Phbasketball6 16:43, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Casey Bramlet

I just wanted to let you know that, despite what his NFL.com page says, Casey Bramlet did not play last week and therefore has yet to appear in a regular season game. If that's not why you added it (although I assume it is) just know that the NFL debut section is for a played regular season game. Thanks.►Chris Nelson 02:32, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

I know that its for a player that played a regular season game but I know that he didn't go behind the center but maybe he held the ball for the kicker.? Thanks --Phbasketball6 02:35, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

No he didn't play at all, you can confirm this with the NFL.com Game Book.►Chris Nelson 03:28, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Michael Koenen was the holder, by the way.►Chris Nelson 03:33, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Well due to my restrictions I'm only allowed to revert a page once per week with the exception of blatant vandalism. And that probably does not apply to what he's doing to Daunte Culpepper even if it doesn't make sense. It seems like other people are keeping an eye out though. I dont understand why this user keeps doing this--Yankees10 21:14, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

I think its because he was working on the Template:Infobox NFL player and making little edits and if we started to use a new one, he'll feel his work was for nothing. Thats the only reason that I thought of. Besides I started a discussion of Wiki NFL Project. --Phbasketball6 21:18, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your recent edit to Template:NFLStartingQuarterbacks. However, Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. Cleo Lemon has not started yet. Yes, he is expected to start next Sunday, but, until he actually takes that first snap of the game, he is not a starting quarterback. Who knows what could happen between now and then -- he could get hurt in practice, the Dolphins could trade for another QB, etc. Let's wait until he actually starts before editing the template. Thanks! Skudrafan1 23:21, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Well on ESPNews they said he is a starter now and its the NFL Starting Quarterbacks not the NFL Starting Quarterbacks who played, and either today or tomorrow the Miami Dolphins will have on their site Cleo Lemon as a starting, so tell them its not a crystal ball. Thanks--Phbasketball6 23:24, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

And if he doesn't start then we can change it back but for right now he is officially the starter. Thanks--Phbasketball6 23:27, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I just wanted to throw my two cents in. I love the idea for this template an I agree with Skudrafan1 on this one. The best way to handle this template, in my opinion, would be to update it after the week's games have been played. So guys like Cleo Lemon and Kurt Warner should not currently be listed. I do feel that, even though in all likelihood they will start, it's a little to "crystal ball-ish" to have them on here now. The template isn't for who is taking reps with the first team in practice (or at least it shouldn't be), it's who is starting the most recent game. Hope you understand this point of view.►Chris NelsonHolla! 18:28, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Minor suggestion regarding NFL infobox

I think it's a good idea to keep the name field in the templates all the time. I say this because, let's say another article comes later with the same name and an article is moved. For example, let's say Cory Ross wasn't the only Cory Ross on Wikipedia. Let's say there's also a Cory Ross basketball player. If we disambiguate the pages, it'd be nice to already have Cory Ross have a name field in his template so his infobox doesn't say "Cory Ross (American football) if it's moved. Know what I mean?►Chris NelsonHolla! 19:24, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Yea, I agree. --Phbasketball6 20:18, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:ToddMarinovich.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. From the Editor

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday.

This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement.

That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at this talk page.

"NFL player" and "NFL retired" Templates

If a player played ONLY in the AFL, or in the AFL and NFL, or in the CFL, AFL and NFL, why is an "NFL" template more apprropriate than a "Pro Football player" template?

As for users "not seeing it unless they edit a page", isn't it the idea of Wikipedia for users to edit pages? If a user sees Billy Shaw, for example, and wants to edit it, should he/she see "NFL player" when they go to change or add imformation? Billy Shaw was not an NFL player. The "NFL player" template also incorrectly shows college drafts from 1967 through 1969 as "NFL drafts", when those were actually the three years of the Common Draft. The AFL still existed in 1967, 1968 and 1969. Why, for example, should the 1968 AFL Rookie of the Year Paul Robinson be shown as having been taken in the "1968 NFL Draft"?

As for the "NFL retired" template, it is superfluous, since "NFL player" and "Infobox Pro Football player" can give all of a player's important information and stats, and need only be changed by one line (stating the player's retirement year) to do everything that "NFL retired" does.

I have created many pages that have added to the knowledge base of Wikipedia, including hundreds of pages on American Football League players, many of whom never played in the NFL. The 1962 Dodge automobile was made by the Chrysler Corporation. If today we said it was a product of DaimlerChryslerAG (which was a merged successor of Chrysler), we would be wrong. Similarly, the fact that the team a man played for in 1962 is now in the NFL does not mean absolutely that the man played in the NFL. The elements of Pro Football introduced by the 1960-1969 American Football League were so important to the development of the game, that whether or not the AFL still exists, history should not be altered for convenience' sake. Further, when a page already exists using "NFL player" or "Infobox Pro Football player", changing the format and entry items as "NFL retired" does, makes it very difficult to convert the page to that template (not that I want to!). SugnuSicilianu (talk) 02:54, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm already aware of Billy Shaw never playing in the NFL, and I think "Infobox Pro Football player retired" fits best for the AFL and CFL players. Thanks --Phbasketball6 (talk) 03:03, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Your Opinion

I want to know your opinion on this, the IP address 72.0.36.36‎ keeps making the highlights in the infobox for Randy Gradishar and Carl Eller small, and it is not consistant with other retired players infoboxes highlights, I keep telling he/she that we are trying to keep things consistant on NFL players articles but they keep saying it is consistant with other infoboxes but its not at all in my opinion--Yankees10 (talk) 00:29, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I think it is unnecessary to list the Pro Bowls and All-Pro selection seperatly, its just too long and annoying for me to read. That would answer the question that you are asking, if what I ask would be done then making all the highlights small would also be unnecessary. Thanks --Phbasketball6 (talk) 01:04, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

thats exactly what I think, do you think you can help me explain to him that its just plain ol' unneccessary for the All-Pros to be seperate and the writing to be small, thanks--Yankees10 (talk) 01:11, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I think the way I do it is necessary for reasons explained on my page----It is necessary for accuracy, clarity and verfiability, in my view72.0.36.36 (talk) 03:11, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Sacks

Another issue: Sacks. The wikie standard is verifiable. If the Raiders credit howie Long with 7 sacks in 1981, the year before they are official, why should his bio short him? He had 93 sacks, not 84. Wiki is not related to Elias Sports Bureau or the NFL. Why should official team sources be ignored as to be "official". Official to who? The point is to be fair, accurate. As long as sacks are only offical then wikie serves no purpose to enlighten readers, it would only give them the same line as the NFL----"sack prior to 1982 are unofficial". Well, that is true, btu as long as pre-1981 sacks are noted as unofficial then there should be no problem using them, as long as they are verifiable, which is the wikipedia standard that is adhered. Right?72.0.36.36 (talk) 03:11, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Haha damn, that is the best issue I have ever heard but I cannot answer that one, I'm not for or against. Very intelligent point of view, one of the best I ever heard. --Phbasketball6 (talk) 03:15, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

I think the sack issue should be taken to the full group of the NFL pproject. Maybe a consensus can be reached one way or another72.0.36.36 (talk) 06:43, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Could you please explain how Sammy Baugh could have played in Pro Bowls in years when there was no Pro Bowl? Corvus cornixtalk 00:20, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

I got this from Pro-Football-Reference.com one their sneak peak page for Baugh. They were All-Star games back then, I guess I should have put down All-Stars instead of Pro Bowls. Thanks --Phbasketball6 00:44, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Jeffries or Jeffires?

Is it Haywood Jeffries or Haywood Jeffires, because NFL.com and pro-football-reference.com has it as Jeffires, but I have numerous football cards that says its Jeffries and the article says Jeffries--Yankees10 (talk) 00:55, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

I go with NFL.com, PFR.com, and databaseFootball.com because all of them have the last name spelled them same way and cards has a lot of typos. Thanks --Phbasketball6 (talk) 01:20, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Randy Moss

Moss doesn't have the record in any circumstances, his 22nd touchdown only ties the record. I was trying to keep the page from getting cluttered, since without proper documentation (such as [1] here), it's not verifiable until after the game when it's official. Thanks! Snowfire51 (talk) 03:24, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I have reverted your changes on this page. NFL records are not final until the game has ended. WP:OR and WP:V also state that you must have a source for your claims, no matter how obvious they are. Say I lived in some random country and had no clue what the NFL was, how am I supposed to know what you are saying is correct, unless there is a reliable source to back up your claims? As I am writing you now, the game hasn't even ended yet! Which means that it is officially not a complete NFL game. Technically this game could be called and replayed (its far-fetched, yes, but it is possible). Please do not add stats or records until there is a reliable source to cite this. Thanks.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 03:25, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Haha as you left a message for me, I was leaving a message for you! Mostly just wait til the game is over and official, I'm sure there will be a story pretty quickly after the end of the game, cite it and put it in. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 03:27, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Well I do have a source stating that he tied the record http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8058c459&template=with-video&confirm=true is that good enough to put down for now? Thanks --Phbasketball6 (talk) 03:31, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes, but again I would rather see us wait another 40 minutes or so, when the game is over, and then add it. As long as you have a source though, you can add what you want, its your prerogative.
