Max Elbin[edit]

Please note: wp:Wikipedia is anonymous. Your identity has not established by stating such in an edit summary. Regarding your addition to Max Elbin, please see wp:No original research. Unless you wish to supply your phone number and be on call 24/7 to support that article. ;o) A wp:reliable source (RS) should be wp:cited. See help:referencing for beginners. Cheers Adakiko (talk) 19:47, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any way I can provide evidence that I am directly related to Max Elbin? Both him and his wife have passed but my grandma (his daughter) likely has documents that can prove that I am related to him directly. While being on call 24/7 sounds like a lot, I love all the work he did and would love to do some more research with reliable sources to increase the length of his article.
Let me know what my options are, thank you for all your help! Schultbe (talk) 20:47, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Providing evidence of your identity is relatively easy. I don't think there is any advantage of providing evidence of your relationship to Max Elbin. BTW: You editing Elbin's article is a wp:conflict of interest. Wikipedia biographies should be "warts and all". Turing a biography into a hagiography is rather frowned upon, to say the least.
Obituaries, books, magazine articles. Also, check on https://archive.org and others: wp:List of web archives on Wikipedia Most anything that is a wp:Reliable source. WP:USERGENERATED, wp:self-published content, e.g. not under editorial review, generally unreliable, or editable by someone (like Wikipedia!) even if registered. Mostly not acceptable examples IMDB, Find a grave, blogs, personal websites, Daily Mail, etc. See wp:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. Also depends on what type of claim: Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, tendency for contentious content, notability of topic. For Max Elbin, the bar is not nearly as high as Donald Trump. Hope this helps! You could also ask at wp:Teahouse or help:desk for more detailed answers & directions. Ok! I'll stay neutral when adding to his article and just correct some things that have changed since its publishing, and maybe some additional information about personal life and career within the PGA.
