Hello Thisasia. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Thisasia. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Thisasia|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 10:44, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please I'm not being paid nor compensate for my edit, I'm only here as a volunteer contributor, Thanks Thisasia (talk) 10:48, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You took a picture of this musician. How did you do this without a connection to him? 331dot (talk) 10:55, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well I'm his fan and he is my idol, I'm too small to be noticed. Thisasia (talk) 11:05, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So you did actually take the picture of him with your camera? Did you take this picture too? 331dot (talk) 11:09, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sir to clarify your doubts, I didn't took those picture with my camera, as I do clarified it on wikimedia common. It was a collaborative work, the original owner aren't bound by any copyright. Thanks. Thisasia (talk) 11:36, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is not sufficient. If you did not take the images, you cannot claim them as your own personal work. If someone released the images for use on Wikipedia by anyone for any purpose, you need to put the proper copyright notice- which must include where the copyright is displayed- and not claim them as your own personal work. You must immediately either fix this situation or request deletion of the images.
Be aware that images are not relevant to the draft approval process, which only considers the text and sources. Images can wait until the draft is accepted and placed in the encyclopedia. 331dot (talk) 11:43, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright I will do so, I think the only mistake I made is claiming it as my own. Thisasia (talk) 11:46, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also assume that the original copyright holder is either the photographer or a representative of the musicians. If so, then you must declare an unpaid conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 11:45, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well I don't know much about his overall relationship with the musician, hence i need your help for that, I'm aren't much familiar on this unpaid COI thanks. Thisasia (talk) 12:33, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's up to you as the uploader to figure out where you are getting the images from and that you are properly uploading them.
How did you know to contact the copyright holder for permission without knowing their relationship? 331dot (talk) 12:41, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
my point was for you to help me on how I will disclose unpaid conflict of interest on my page as you mentioned above.
Of course i did contact the owner before using his work but some personal questions aren't polite to ask as many people will feel it as an investigations. Thisasia (talk) 12:50, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't say you should investigate- but you didn't approach this person at random for a random reason. Either they are associated with the subjects or they aren't.
I will post a pre-written message with instructions on how to disclose. 331dot (talk) 12:58, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright thanks, all well noted. Thisasia (talk) 13:17, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Thisasia. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 12:59, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You have not yet disclosed your conflict of interest as instructed. You must do this very soon, with one of your next edits. I have further noted that you are writing about many members of bands but a member of a band only merits a standalone article if they have a significant solo career(like Paul McCartney after his time with The Beatles). You haven't demonstrated this with Li Ziting, though you say it's true. 331dot (talk) 08:50, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 331dot i indeed haven't known yet how to do so now as I'm still new on wiki still reading to familiarise myself. But you promised that you'd guide me on this talk page.
Yeah the musician Li Ziting is already a solo artist since her band disbanded on 2020. I will try & disclose all these, including her Achievement|Award before resubmitting.
I know it might be unconvincing for one to be consuming his time here to write on wiki. But I believe that one doesn't need to get any special treatments in order to write about the people he appreciates and things he loves. These are are just my hobbies as does it in my leisure time. Thanks. Thisasia (talk) 09:22, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This portion of the policy explains how to disclose. 331dot (talk) 09:27, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I made some disclosures on both Li Ziting talk page and my User page. I don't know if it was done correctly? Thisasia (talk) 11:43, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you did, thank you. 331dot (talk) 12:35, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

331dot, what exactly is the COI concern here? From the looks of it, Thisasia appears to be a fan of these singers, with no personal or professional relationship, and that alone shouldn't be regarded as COI. --Paul_012 (talk) 09:44, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

They claimed images of the musicians they write about as their own personal work, and later said that they communicated with the copyright holder to get them to release the images- which is a relationship. 331dot (talk) 11:18, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Asking copyright holders to donate material is something Wikipedia contributors have long been encouraged to do. Not all communication constitutes COI. Maybe you doubt Thisasia's claims, but I don't see anything wrong if their later explanation is true. Anyway, the problem, from what I see, is that you've instructed them to make an empty COI declaration that doesn't actually show any COI, which is what confused me and led me here in the first place. If there is an actual COI it needs to be more clearly explained. --Paul_012 (talk) 11:42, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As I said the initial trigger for my questions was the fact that they claimed the images they uploaded as their own personal work- which is usually a big red flag for a COI or paid editing especially when editing about musicians. WP:COI states "Any external relationship can trigger a conflict of interest." If communication with someone regarding editing an article/draft about them isn't a COI- that's interesting to me, as then I wonder what would be, but okay. Is the copyright information with the image considered sufficient to disclose such a thing?
Perhaps they are just so much of a fan that it just appears as if they have a COI(something common that I see)- but even if they have no COI, they are editing very promotionally(and have yet to have a draft accepted). 331dot (talk) 12:06, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just checked the photo uploads, which are screen captures from Pinterest videos. I've nominated them all for deletion at Commons. From my reading, it looks like the person they contacted was just another fan who edited the videos and put them on Pinterest. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:34, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
....which isn't a COI since they didn't communicate with the subjects/their representatives, though they did improperly upload them. Thanks for looking into this deeper. 331dot (talk) 12:41, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thisasia, I removed your COI notice since you don't actually have one- perhaps there is a language/cultural barrier here- but you did improperly use the images. You cannot use screen captures from social media, especially if they are made by other fans. 331dot (talk) 12:47, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot Oww thanks, indeed, what I wasn't really sure was if he is actually a fan or the original owner of the work. Well the uploaded photos have been already nominated for mass-deletions by @Paul 012 and i welcomed that. I will properly upload any future photos with the rightful licence henceforth. Thanks. Hi

[edit]

Can you tell me what this is all about? Is all of this just to indicate that you are, like, online? Because those are mighty long edit summaries, and I'm trying to find the mainspace edits. Drmies (talk) 01:06, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello sir! Well the moment you sent this message or when you patrolled my account was when I was working on my User:Thisasia/common.js which will automate my status whenever I changed it. Hence the edit summary have been updated on my javascript Thanks. Thisasia (talk) 01:20, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
From my user dashboard, my status changes will be done automatically whenever I just click either 'online, offline, sleeping and busy' and it will also update my user page automatically including with automated edit summary, Thanks.
Thisasia (talk) 01:41, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why not leave the disclaimer in an HTML comment <!-- Like this --> in a line where it will be visible in the status change diff? That way the summary can just say like "Status: Online" or whatever, and the long disclaimer can be visible if people click the diffs. – 2804:F1...C5:945B (talk) 07:39, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Or the summary could include a link to a permalink(or just a link) to an explanation. Multiple possibilities – 2804:F1...C5:945B (talk) 07:45, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hello, I'm not very clear about your point but I definitely provide an auto edit summary that states about the status change of all time both for the UserCurrentStatus and my own status as well.
Thisasia  (Talk)
08:44, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, just like Drmies I think your automatic edit summaries are pretty long - so I was just suggesting a way for you to have the disclaimer saying "Please note: this is not a manual edit. This was an automated edit, done using my Thisasia/common.js, this will occur whenever i update my online-status through an auto click on my user dashboard, Thanks." without needing to have it be in the edit summary itself.
That is, you could have it just say the status in the summary and have a link to an explanatory post (or the HTML comment in the diff I suggested).
My question, was, "why not?" As in, what do you think of the idea? –2804:F1...C5:945B (talk) 10:45, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
well you should note that this is a status change Transclusion meaning that you will see almost nothing in my user page when u go to the edit terminal.
secondly no one will have to always open my page edit terminal in order to see the disclaimer comment.
Thirdly, this status was programmed with javascript hence an auto edit summary is a must because you won't have an option to manually write an edit summary when you changed your status.
And lastly, @Drmies question was when I was still working on the edit summary and not because of the current summary.
Well I appreciate your suggestion about the long summary hence I may look for a shorter way to simply them. Cheers 🥂

Speedy deletion nomination of Xu Ruo Han

[edit]

Hello Thisasia,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Xu Ruo Han for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Xu Ruo Han to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Your submission at Articles for creation: Li Ziting (Mimi Lee) (March 13)

DoubleGrazing (talk) 14:14, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DoubleGrazing please may I ask if checked other source? The Whosamp, Rate your music was English source used mainly for her music reference, which is why I mostly included more than one source for her music work, please can you go and search each an every music that you said is unreliable on Google and you will see countless music source that has it?
Secondly I never used Baidu for reference, rather I only used it as an external link mostly for company profile that is not on Wikipedia.
The highlighted sources you mentioned was never used to Cite for her Biography. I provided countless reliable both in local news and blogs for her Biography, all where mostly in both chinese and Thai. Hence I wonder maybe you may find it difficult to translate them. Li Ziting is a Thai-chinese celebrity and not worldwide, hence her references sources aren't in English but Thai and chinese. Thanks Thisasia (talk) 17:56, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't need to check all the other sources. I'm not saying that none of the sources are reliable; I'm saying that two are deprecated and another few are non-reliable, meaning that the content apparently supported by those sources is not appropriately referenced. And this is in addition to the content which is not supported at all (I count at least five paragraphs without a single citation). Per WP:BLP, articles on living people have strict referencing requirements, so if you cannot find reliable sources with which to support the information, then such information must be removed. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:27, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DoubleGrazing Sorry i have opened the Afc discussion before realising your reply.
But according to you, you didn't check other source then
how do you determin that the bio source provided are unreliable ? Thisasia (talk) 18:53, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're missing the point. You're citing sources which must not be cited. Either find better ones, or remove whatever information those sources are supporting.
And aside that, you must support the draft comprehensively; you cannot have multiple paragraphs without any referencing, that is simply not acceptable in a BLP. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 19:52, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oww well noted, Thanks. Thisasia (talk) 19:57, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Signatures and statuses

[edit]

Hey there! While I admire the work it must have taken to design your new signature, there are a handful of things that appear problematic with it. First and foremost, I recommend you at least skim through Wikipedia:Signatures. Per that page, you may not have images in your signature, generally shouldn't have anything moving, must limit the length of the signature code to 255 characters, and should not use a template to transclude your signature. These are all pretty firm rules, so I'd advise you to look over them and make some changes.

On another note, I've noticed your live-updating status. While this one isn't as much of a problem, it's important to keep in mind that Wikipedia has no deadline, and as such, the live statuses of individual editors typically aren't very important. I've been in pretty much exactly the same situation you're in now, and another editor kindly pointed out these rules to me, so I feel I should pass along that good deed. In his words, I'll say that I've had productive conversations unfold over the course of years, so I recommend that you not worry too much about alerting people to your hour-to-hour status. I know there are some hard-working people here who need to be reliably reachable because they're engaged in arbitration or mediation or whatnot, but mostly Wikipedia is a project with a distant horizon, and that's one of the things I find most beautiful about it.

I hope this helps you a little and you can grow further now that you're aware of these rules and ideas—I really don't want to discourage you from contributing, and I hope this is simply a learning opportunity. If you have any questions at all, I'm always here and happy to help. Reach out literally anytime, and I'll do my best to answer your questions. 🫶 Bsoyka (tcg) 01:16, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bsoyka Oow thanks very much for the information, and I have just red that and learnt, very much appreciated. Hope this one is okay?👇

Thisasia   (Talk)     01:39, 21 March 2024 (UTC) [reply]

I think now your only issue is the character count. WP:SIGLEN says your signature should be limited to 255 characters in the wikicode; yours sits at over 530. You might need to sacrifice some of the specifics of the styling to meet this. Bsoyka (tcg) 01:45, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi bro @Bsoyka, i have reduced it to just 235 characters, I hope is okay now? Thisasia   (Talk)   02:12, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd probably take out some of the extra spaces/lines, like this: <i style='padding:5px;box-shadow:0 0 1px 1px #ffffff,0 0 2.5px 2.5px rgba(0,0,0,0.16);'>[[User:Thisasia|<i style='color:darkblue;font-style:italic;font-weight:bold;'>Thisasia</i>]]  [[User talk:Thisasia|(Talk)]]</i> . Also, make sure you actually set your signature in Special:Preferences rather than substituting it from a template every time. (I think that's what you're doing, but correct me if I'm wrong.) This makes signing easier for you (you just type ~~~~ to sign) and ensures you can send notifications. Bsoyka (tcg) 02:19, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright done thanks, for your educative advice today, very much appreciated. Thisasia  (Talk) 02:31, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, I'm glad I could help! Like I said earlier, feel free to reach out anytime if you need anything. Bsoyka (tcg) 02:41, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright thanks very much and God bless. Have a great time. Thisasia  (Talk) 02:49, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
On a related matter, your signature as used here includes a <br /> tag, contrary to WP:SIGAPP, second bullet. Please remove it. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 22:36, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edits

I looked at your almost three thousand edits in Module:Module sandbox, and the almost 1200 edits in your sandbox (one of them), the over 600 edits in your common.jss, the 375 edits in your status, and your 19 edits in article space. What actually are you trying to do on Wikipedia? Drmies (talk) 04:17, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi sir @Drmies currently I'm working on a Template as you can see on my sandbox, the module sandbox is also where I'm creating codes that will run the template, as the sandboxes is the only right place to carry out any project test before bringing it in their main namespace. Please is there anything I'm not doing right? Thanks.
Thisasia  (Talk)
04:28, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I can't see what you are doing at al. What template? What does it do? Drmies (talk) 13:43, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The template serves all infobox needs, is dynamic and is multipurpose, for this purpose it requires a lot more codes and lots of time, but so far I'm on semi-finish stage of the template. I have already created the template page and will soon start the documentation soon once I'm finalised with the most critical stage, which will also be huge.
Thisasia  (Talk)
13:57, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry but I don't understand any of that. What infobox needs? Drmies (talk) 14:09, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's possible that you may not understand that prior to the Template documention. But again on Wikipedia, all subjects/topics tends to have their own separate infobox Template since the parameters/keys and values are limited and thus one Template can only be used for one particular subjects/topics and won't be able to do beyond the particular subject they are documented for, and even sometimes they may not be able to meet the needs for those one particular topics they are subjected due to their limitations.
But for the new dynamic infobox I'm building will solve these problems. Currently it can be dynamically use for any topics subjects both those currently on Wikipedia Infoboxes and upcoming ones. The template will not just do that but will be coming with huge functionalities. Over all you may only use the template all alone without needing any external Template to support your project as it has many functionalities and very simple rules to follow. Dynamic infobox means that almost everything in the template is dynamic, the parameters/keys and values are infinite. It uses the lua table.sort() Merge sort and Insertion sort algorithm to easily position any item at any position of your choice in the template and thus why is dynamic infobox.
Thisasia  (Talk)
16:29, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Primefac, you're my go-to expert. Do you grasp what the editor is doing? And yes, Thisaia, I know what an infobox is. Drmies (talk) 01:10, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry i didn't mean you don't know what infobox is, I'm only trying to highlight the huge difference between the current Infoboxes and the one I'm building. Like for example, what could it look like if everyone is familiarise with one Infobox that servers all infobox purpose with huge functionalities beyond with just learning one syntax rules?
  • This will surely increases flexibility among Wikipedians since we all have to deal with one Infobox rulese instead of having to learn new rules each time we wants to deal with a different topics that requires it's own separate infobox.
  • it will be also pretty much easier for new incoming contributors
  • The dynamic infobox it's is very flexible and the rules condition is pretty simple and it won't hard any one to understand it in one go
  • We will then be able to define and write about any topic of our choice without having to worry about new infobox Template rulese and their limitations for that particular topic, or maybe perhaps the special topic we want to write about does not yet have an infobox Template on Wikipedia.
I'm not saying that after the template is completed that it will surely replace every other templates. No I'm pretty sure that depends on our choice for flexibility and on the dynamic infobox that server's all purpose with huge functionalities. Lastly there may not be needs to create limited new Infoboxes for upcoming topics. Thanks for reading.
Thisasia  (Talk)
02:58, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Drmies, they're trying to reinvent the infobox, à la "Standards". It's not going to work and it will likely never happen even if it does work, but if this is how they want to spend their time, I guess... go for it? One suggestion I would make is to use your own Module sandbox, Module:Sandbox/Thisasia, rather than taking up the main sandbox. Primefac (talk) 06:16, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much for your reply, I know this might seem absolutely impossible but I can assure that the template may do more than I described if later succeeded. I have drawn the plan effectively for long before actually proceeding to build it meaning that I will make sure the template achieves these purposes while effectively been flexible and easy to use. Thanks again.

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

@Selfstudier So you mean propaganda is a contentious topics on Wikipedia? Thisasia  (Talk) 13:51, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The AI/IP conflict is a CT, it says so in that big blue box. Idk what prompted your sudden intervention at the page but this is simply a required awareness notice so that you have been formally advised that it is a CT and that there are some special rules governing the topic area. Selfstudier (talk) 13:56, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Selfstudier i got what you mean by CT, but since this topic is just an accusation by UN and others then the tittle shouldn't be "Gaza genocide" nor should it be used as propaganda. Else should you prove which Wikipedia policy allows propaganda as CT. Thisasia  (Talk) 14:11, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That it is propaganda is your personal opinion, on WP we go by what the sources say (and not just one source). Selfstudier (talk) 14:54, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Selfstudier Hence the source says is an accusation isn't? So this should be made clear starting from the Tittle. Everything on the page is obvious and not my personal opinion. Accusation is different from fact. Thisasia  (Talk) 15:05, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't even know what means, sorry. Selfstudier (talk) 15:08, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
