Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks!   — Jeff G. ツ 04:45, 7 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I wanted to let you know that Wikipedia highly discourages moving pages during an Articles for Deletion (AfD) or Requested Move (RM) discussions. Earlier, you moved Fourth Taiwan Strait Crisis to 2022 Chinese military exercises around Taiwan amid an Articles for Deletion (AfD) discussion about the article. A lot of editors had given their !votes based on the previous title and moves like that can really mess up automatic bot edits. In the future, please do not move articles that have an ongoing AfD discussion. Elijahandskip (talk) 12:49, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. Acroterion (talk) 13:43, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You're going to need to discuss those category removals first. Acroterion (talk) 13:43, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Acroterion Category:War crimes during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine is a subcategory of Category:Russian war crimes in Ukraine, so there is no need to add the latter to the articles. Txkk (talk) 13:53, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Then discuss which category is most appropriate first, rather than making wholesale undiscussed changes that have a substantial change in meaning. Acroterion (talk) 13:56, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Acroterion In before, Category:War crimes during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine was added to the articles. Txkk (talk) 13:59, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Acroterion These articles are all about the events during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Txkk (talk) 14:03, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In the case where Category:War crimes during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine has been added, there is no need to add Category:Russian war crimes in Ukraine. Txkk (talk) 14:27, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
While I agree that some tidying might be warranted, the two categories describe different things, and it might be best to discuss the changes first with other editors rather than making mass changes. Acroterion (talk) 20:03, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
