March 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm PritongKandule. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Jessica Michibata, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! PritongKandule-✉️📝 17:39, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PritongKandule, is it possible if me to repost the same sentences, but this time I add the source in the citation? I apologize for the mistakes because I'm new and willing to learn to contribute generously. UniPin2023 (talk) 17:48, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, UniPin2023! Yes you may repost with a citation (remember to use the "Cite" button on the editor). Make sure that you are citing a reliable source and be sure to check with this list for reference of what and what not to cite). While it's not a hard rule, generally we try to avoid citing from social media accounts such as Instagram since they usually require an account to view, so it would be better if you can cite your sources using a news post or something similar.
Would also be good to review the policy on writing about living persons as the rules are much stricter when it comes to them compared to other articles. For a beginner, you may also want to practice first with editing non biography articles.
Thanks! PritongKandule-✉️📝 04:06, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jamiebuba,
Thank you for your information. Can you give me some tips about the page that I created? Should I write it longer, or may it need more reference for the citation?
Thank you. UniPin2023 (talk) 07:13, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I'm an employee of UniPin.com. Is it correct if I mention inside the ref tag things like this:

December 2023[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Dear admin, I guarantee I'm not getting paid for creating a page/post on Wikipedia. I already requested to change the username not associated with Unipin and promise I will not repeat the same mistake; I'm just a new member here, so I need to learn a lot. I apologize for the inconvenience. UniPin2023 (talk) 02:26, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You say above that you are an employee- this is sufficient to trigger the paid editing disclosure requirement of the Terms of Use- you do not need to be specifically paid to edit. You have not said what specific edits you intend to make(such as what articles or topics) now that you know you won't be permitted to, in the short term, edit about your company. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 10:06, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I was too naive to disclose on the draft that I was an employee of UniPin, but that's all; I'm trying to be honest. And yes, I'm not getting paid to edit this Wikipedia page. I'm a social media specialist who receives a monthly salary and is trying to help my company get a list on Wikipedia. That said, that was actually out of my job desk.

FYI UniPin is a legit company, and it is a legally registered trademark under the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of Indonesia Reference URL: https://pdki-indonesia.dgip.go.id/search?type=trademark&keyword=UniPin&page=1&status=Didaftar.

My question is, who will be eligible to create/edit a Wikipedia page if the trying-to-be-an-honest employee is not allowed, although he disclosed it in the draft and is getting accused of getting paid? Do I have to pretend to be someone else? Who can guarantee that someone with higher-level access to Wikipedia will not get paid to edit/post pages? That's my thought; I'm not trying to be smart here; I'm just confused with the rules.
