[edit]

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Somali Civil War (2009–present), but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 13:25, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just did, you're welcome! Zabezt (talk) 18:54, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I only didn't include a source due to the lack of one on the cafe-car bombing incident on July 14th. (Which now that I think about it, I should change that.) Zabezt (talk) 19:06, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Horn of Africa (defined as including Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and adjoining areas if involved in related disputes), a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Formal warning about edit warring

[edit]

You broke the 1RR at Somali Civil War. This is a warning that future edit warring will likely lead to a sanction. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 04:21, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Similar rule violation at Somali Civil War (2009–present). You need to be more careful. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 04:28, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Firefangledfeathers, thank you for trying to help, I just want you to know that I am still I new user, I don't know all of the rules, and if I break a rule I most likely didn't know it existed, it wasn't intentional. Right now I'm confused, I want to solve this dispute but Ecrusized doesn't want to discuss with me, what should I do? Zabezt (talk) 11:10, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Read WP:DR, and if you have any questions about one of the options there, let me know. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 12:09, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, a third opinion was already made by @Replayerr on this talk page. So now what? Zabezt (talk) 13:30, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Either WP:DRN or an WP:RFC. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 13:34, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I added an RfC Zabezt (talk) 15:17, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If the RfC doesn't work, can you please persuade Ecrusized to have a discussion with me? Zabezt (talk) 02:42, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The RfC seems to be in favor of the map currently up, and it doesn't look like anyone else is gonna respond unless they get asked to, so if it's in favor of the current map, what will happen? Zabezt (talk) 16:09, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
RfCs typically run for a while, often 30 days. If it's clear what the consensus is at the end of that period, someone can go ahead and implement it. If consensus is not clear, you can request closure from an uninvolved editor, and it'll be clear from their close what the next step should be. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 16:22, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, but what should we do after October 5th when the page protection expires? An edit war or anything similar will probably happen. Zabezt (talk) 21:01, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agreed with the edit changes. @Ecrusized isn't engaging properly in the talk page. Replayerr (talk) 14:00, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Replayerr, there is an RfC in the Somali Civil War talk page, can you please respond to it? Zabezt (talk) 14:05, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tag me and I'll respond Replayerr (talk) 14:13, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
