From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

RandyWang (talk · contribs) I've only been a Wikipedian for a short time now, but I'm becomingly increasingly obsessed with improving articles as and when I can - I've gone from using Wikipedia as a read-only resource, to editing multiple articles per day in almost no time. Now that I have at least a few edits under my belt, I'd very much appreciate some feedback on how I'm coming along, and how I could improve. Note: Since I make quite a few smaller edits per day, it might be worth taking a look at the list of larger edits (for structure, language and content) on my userpage as well.

Questions

  1. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I'm fairly happy with my work on both Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict, and more recently, The_Sims_2:_Open_for_Business (my current pet project, in a casual kind of way). I'm happy with the former because of the size of the initial edits I made on it, cleaning up essentially the entire article's language and (hopefully) making it all much more readable. As for the latter, I'm simply pleased that I was able to effectively deal with one of the two outstanding cleanup issues that page had been noted for on its cleanup taskforce page, and that I can see other ways in which it can be improved (noted on its talk page).
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Yes. Recently - indeed, a couple of days after I started actively editing Wikipedia - I ran across the user Xino, who had made huge - albeit totally unreadable - contributions to articles such as Unreal Tournament 2007 and Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict. The story of that engagement should be fairly self-explanatory from those two articles' talk pages, and my own. I'm not satisfied with how I handled the situation: I can see that I acted too aggressively, rather than attempting to appease Xino as I edited his posts (you give a little, you get a little...), but I'm determined to act more wisely next time this kind of thing happens.
