Unless there is a possibility that this is too simple for "non-free", then I agree. Image also fails WP:NFCC#10c for the individual season articles in addition to UUI No. 14. Commented out the image from all season articles and from individual team articles lacking an nfur per above. In addition, File:Michigan-State-logo-block-s.svg also appears to be a logo of the school and it is freely licensed. Although it is not the same as the helmet logo, it is being used in a number of Michigan State sports related articles so perhaps it should be used instead of the helmet logos in all the team and season articles. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:59, 15 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not that it bears anything on the legality that we're discussing, it should be noted that there is an effort by the university to distance itself from the block S logo. The helmet is the official primary logo of the university's athletic department and it is also used frequently by academic and administrative departments. More importantly, the color on the block S has been changed within the last decade to a darker green. If the block S must be used (though, again, the helmet is preferred), we must be sure to use the current and correct color logo. Bnosnhoj (talk) 00:37, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Just want to add a link to Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2015 December 15#File:Florida Gators logo.svg, a similar FFD discussion in which the close by admin CactusWriter supported usage of the Florida Gators logo in only the main article about the university's athletic teams.
