This is a non-free cast photo that for use in Celebrity Survivor, but the role of primary image in this article is taken by the infobox image of the program's logo. The cast photo is simply being used to illustrate the cast of the particular season, and appears to only be a partial cast photo with some cast members being omitted for no significant reason. Rationale exists for use in only one article but is currently used in two articles. The image depicts living people playing themselves in the program, and thus is replaceable with free images, for similar reasons to recently deleted Real Housewives cast photos at an earlier Files for discussion. -- Whats new?^(talk) 07:07, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Uploader has a history of copyright violations. The latest set of uploads all make the claim that the source was "Walking through Newtown" however other images marked as such were clear copyright violations including File:NARKELBAGANMORE.jpg where a watermark identifying the photographer was removed. This deliberate lying about the sources makes any claim of images being own work as dubious, doubly so when some images are sized at lower resoltutions indicating they were likely taken from a web site. According to the comments for this photo, the "photo was taken in Belgrade, during a freelance photoshoot by a friend" which would mean the friend is the copyright holder, and not the uploader as asserted. Due to shortage of time, I would argue that the image does not violate commercial interests of Hindustan Times because the image can be found in other sources as well, such as youtube videos for non commercial purposes. Even if this were not the case, I petition that the image does not go against the commercial interest because the image can be found in other sources, which I will be willing to provide at a later time if need be. Those other uses of the image may be:

A copyright violation. That others infringe on Hindustan Times' commercial interests does not mean we should
A licensed use of the image. That would mean that they have purchased a license to use the image from Hindustan Times. That would reinforce that this use on Wikipedia does not respect the commercial opportunity of the Hindustan Times with respect to this image.
A legal fair use of the image. But Wikipedia's non-free content policy is much stricter than fair use, so examples of such aren't really relevant.

As such, the use of the same image elsewhere on the web does not mean that WP:NFCC#2 has been met. -- Whpq (talk) 22:14, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Tagged with {{di-no source}} on February 11. Since there are derivative files on Commons and related files both here and on Commons that would be affected by any action on this file, I feel it should be discussed. I'm not holding out much hope, though. From what I've seen, FFD is not so much about genuine concern over copyright issues as it is another venue to further purge the encyclopedia of organic matter, leading towards making it a lazy repeat of some other place on the web (read: "missing clear and verifiable source information" = "no URL means no WP:V as far as we're concerned"). This is amplified by the fact that certain editors have strived to make our coverage of United States federal courts nothing more than a carbon copy of their own website. The revision history and my past experiences with WP:MCQ shows a pattern of anti-AGF behavior causing me to question whether you really want free content. Anyway, the catalog of the library I obtained this from shows that they still have a copy, so I will try to make an effort to provide whatever information you appear to be requesting (kinda hard for me to tell exactly from the robo-message).
