Generally, fair use material is fine in articles directly about the work. This one is not. This is used in a section on the artist's article. So it is definitely borderline as to whether or not it meets our fair use standards. Bringing it here for others to comment. Majora (talk) 20:36, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Bollocks. We clearly accept distinctive NFC material in articles on artist BLPs. I would note that you've also deleted two CC-licensed images on this article and have contested an NFC image of the artist themself (so are you in favour of the artist, or their work appearing in articles, or just neither?) on the grounds that WP has the divine right to somehow stalk artists and acquire photos of them, whatever the artist reckons to this. Andy Dingley (talk) 20:53, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Try not to attack the messenger. It never looks good. I marked two non-com images and another one that your tried to put under fair use but which clearly failed our specific fair use policy. If you want to talk about this specific image that's fine. And just because other images are in use elsewhere doesn't mean they meet our policy either. --Majora (talk) 21:00, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Messenger? You've decided to go after four images on your own bat, and now you're claiming that artist bios can't include examples of their art. Where does that one come from? Andy Dingley (talk) 21:08, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The images were part of a cleanup category that I monitor. Just as other monitor new articles, I monitor new images. And our fair use policy states that. The only reason I didn't mark it for CSD and brought it here instead was because it was borderline. Other artist bios are not the concern of this section but if you want to ask me to take a look at them please do so. I'll treat all the images there like I treated this one and I'll enforce our policy. --Majora (talk) 21:15, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi both, thank you for your assistance with these images. I have emailed the artist who has made these images available under the CC Attribution/ShareAlike license. He has emailed a consent letter to [email protected] and sent me the OTRS ticket. I'm going to change the copyright info on these images to reflect the fact that they are now free content. Throwbackthursdays (talk) 20:08, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good to me. Although you didn't have to reupload this specific one since it is now a duplicate. I'll take care of it and verify the other images. Thank you for your work on this. --Majora (talk) 20:34, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
