File:I Will Survive - G. Gaynor.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by JGabbard (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

An artwork used for German (ebay, discogs, 45cat) and French (ebay, discogs) releases. I uploaded a side label of the US single as free in enwiki just to replace a plain 12-inch vinyl sleeve that doesn't display a singer or any other artwork. With the US single's side label displayed, I'm concerned about the German/French cover art's compliance with WP:NFCC#8 and WP:NFCC#1. There is also a free image of Gloria Gaynor in case the cover art is deleted. George Ho (talk) 02:56, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Delete. Gimme Little Sign#Danielle Brisebois version was merged into Gimme Little Sign#Cover versions -FASTILY 01:40, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

File:Danielle gimme.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by M.C. Brown Shoes (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Cover art of one of less successful versions of Gimme Little Sign. Also insufficiently supported by critical commentary. May fail WP:NFCC#8 and WP:NFC#CS. George Ho (talk) 05:24, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

George Ho, indeed not too much there in the article. On the other hand, we don't include covers for the critical commentary as we virtually never have any for the cover. Covers are included for the second reason on WP:NFC#CS: identify an object, style, or behavior, that is a subject of discussion in the article. Whether Gimme Little Sign#Danielle Brisebois version qualifies as "a subject of discussion in the article" or is more like a passing mention (which everything in Gimme Little Sign#Cover versions clearly would be) is something that could be argued about. I'll say keep, but a case could be made to merge Gimme Little Sign#Danielle Brisebois version into Gimme Little Sign#Cover versions which would more clearly reduce it to a passing mention, voiding the non-free rationale. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 17:44, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Alexis Jazz: I recently eliminated less worthy cover versions and merged two sections into one (diff). I hope this changes your mind. Also, either way, I don't see why being a front cover of a release is sufficient enough to keep it... unless there's enough coverage to discuss/cover the release. Honestly, from what I see, the release wasn't as successful as prior versions. George Ho (talk) 19:08, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
George Ho, "recently" means "just now" or you linked the wrong diff? The infobox makes no sense without its own section, which you just merged, so I removed the infobox. If all this doesn't get reverted it'll get deleted per CSD F5. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 20:08, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Note: this local file was exported to Commons as c:File:Otto Acron carrying a horse up the ladders.jpg by User:H005. This is Otto Acron carrying a horse up some ladders. It's exactly what it says on the tin. It was uploaded by User:Otto Acron in July 2009. Theoretically possible: Otto was born in May 1935 so he'd be 74 years old at the time of upload. It's unclear when exactly this photo was taken, but presumably decades ago as elderly men don't carry horses around. The question is how plausible it is that this is actually own work. Maybe he had a really long wire to trigger the shutter or something, but carrying a horse up some ladders doesn't seem like the best time for multitasking. Considering he'd typically perform for an audience, having someone else take the photo seems less crazy. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 12:52, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Almost four years have passed since the previous FFD discussion resulted in removing the sample from the singer article but "no consensus" about use in the song article. One admin assumed a "strong case to keeping it there as necessary to understand". As I figured, it might or might not have been a supervote. Well, I should've specified WP:NFCC#8 back then, which I'm doing now. Didn't matter then; the discussion was relisted twice and lasted almost seven months back when FFD was tremendously backlogged.

Anyways, I recently pushed the sample down to body, but I don't know whether critical commentary is sufficient enough to support the sample. Furthermore, I don't know whether the sample helps readers understand the song in context and is too contextually significant to be deleted. If neither, and if no objections, then the sample should be deleted. George Ho (talk) 22:27, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cover art (front or back?) of "Gimme Little Sign" Italian release (45cat, discogs, ebay). Uploaded US side label as free in Commons. The Italian sleeve may fail WP:NFCC#1 (i.e. no longer "irreplaceable") and/or WP:NFCC#8 (i.e. inadequately identifies the song in context).
