Whether you're new to Wikipedia or an experienced editor, please join Wikimedians of Los Angeles in making culture and knowledge free for all at an edit-a-thon focused on the people, places, and culture of the Los Angeles area. Take advantage of resources at the West Hollywood Library and help Wikipedia make the internet a better place.
Anyone with an interest is welcome. RSVP below and bring a laptop if you have one; if not, the library has some loaners available (with advance notice). Please create an account using the “log in” button at the top if the page if you don’t have one already. We will also be celebrating Wikipedia's 23rd birthday. There will be cake!
Please be aware of our Wikimedia friendly space policy.
Event information
[edit]- Date: Saturday, February 17, 2024
- Time: 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
- Location: West Hollywood Library First Floor Meeting Room
- Who should participate:
- Everyone! No Wikipedia editing experience is necessary; there will be tutorials and experienced editors who will be happy to help. (If you are unfamiliar with Wikipedia, it's easy to get started with this guided tutorial.)
- Cost: Free (please register below!)
- Hosts: Wikimedians of Los Angeles, West Hollywood Library
A special thank-you to Emilie Hernandez and the staff of the West Hollywood Library for hosting us.
Getting there!
[edit]The library's parking lot is adjacent to the library; if you enter from San Vicente, it's the lot on the right. Validation is available for three hours, but please note: the lot fills up quickly. (There's another lot on the opposite side of the driveway. Parking is validated for an hour at the booth on the ground floor of the garage or near the small dog area on the opposite side of West Hollywood Park.)
Parking in West Hollywood is treacherous! If you park on the street make sure to read the signs. Most everywhere is permit parking, and the wonderful park is in part financed by parking tickets. So, alternative transit methods are a great idea: LA Metro bus route 2 runs between Santa Monica and downtown Los Angeles, with a stop very close to the library.
