PlanespotterA320 decided to unilaterally retarget this from Uyghur genocide to Nanjing Massacre. Unfortunately, I cannot agree with this target as Nanjing Massacre is not frequently described as a genocide in reliable sources. Meanwhile, I tried searching Chinese genocide on multiple search engines and most results I get refer to the Uyghur situation. To avoid an edit war I'm bringing it here for discussion. Some years ago this was a disambiguation page (deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chinese genocide). The dab page contained both war crimes against/persecution of Chinese people and war crimes/persecution of other ethnic groups perpetrated by Chinese people. In addition to the (recentism-biased) Uyghur results, Google also has some results about Tibet, but very little about genocide against Chinese. I can live with going back to Uyghurs, deletion, or even a new dab page, but "Nanjing Massacre" is not the primary target. —Kusma (𐍄·𐌺) 22:44, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Disambiguate. This seems like it could sensibly be refering to either event, and some of the sources in the Nanjing Massacre article do describe the event as a genocide. A google books search also turns up a load of results relating to the chinese occupation of Tibet and the ICJ's report on it (see History of Tibet (1950–present)#ICJ Human rights report so that could also be a plausible target, and the Organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China has also been described as a potential genocide, see [1]. Delete. In addition to the targets suggested above, the Dungan Revolt (1862–1877), aspects of the Taiping Rebellion, and the Dzungar genocide have been described as genocides, and probably others too. Comment I made it because an article claimed that it was a term for a kind of people who have lived on the islands, I was intending to create a section on the article for terminology used by the population, but it totally slipped my mind. Delete the correct Japanese orthography would be 旧島民, which just means "old/former island residents" (i.e. of any island in general, not just the Bonin Islands). 28 articles on Japanese Wikipedia use this term, including articles about some of the Bonin Islands, the Kuril Islands, Iriomote Island, and others. 61.239.39.90 (talk) 05:49, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Delete, no relevant content in the target article; before it was redirected almost all of the content[3] was a copy of an old version of Medi, India [4]. Keep: Longstanding humour redirect; the Wales/Whales joke has been part of Wikipedia humour culture for perhaps as long as we've had a Wikipedia humour culture. The "only on April Fool's" pattern proposed by the nominator doesn't match the actual use charts, where the spikes have no correlation with the calendar. (I also might suspect that pageviews before what Pageviews Analysis can track were higher -- Jimbo jokes went out of fashion before 2015.) Keep. Let's say I'm a wikinoob just listened to a podcast where Jimbo Wales was the guest and I wanted to know more about him. I check out the website that he was talking about, Wikipedia, and go to search for him. I didn't see his name anywhere since podcasts are audio only, so I have to guess at how his name is spelled. I can flip a coin and spell it like marine mammals or spell it like a Home Nation. Keep. The flame war on the page this targets was a piece of evidence in the Messhermit arbitration case, and this redirect is linked in the arbcom decision.
