Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2025 January 6
This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on January 6, 2025.
Androidism
[edit]- Androidism → Robot fetishism (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Confusing term defined by Wiktionary as "the quality of being an android". At the very best, it might get a soft redirect there, but it seems unnecessary given the obscurity of this term. Anonymous 22:25, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- delete, and maybe discuss either expanding wiktionary's entry or deleting it as well, as it could also be related to really liking and/or wanting to bang the os consarn (speak evil) (see evil) 11:35, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Suck my cock
[edit]“My” specifically refers to something of one person. Probably used more as an insult, like Suck my dick, which is a non existent and salted page. Heyaaaaalol (talk) 22:14, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Crosswiki redirect to Wiktionary's page suck my cock. -insert valid name here- (talk) 23:44, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Discovery Channel Canada
[edit]- Discovery Channel Canada → Discovery Channel (Canadian TV channel) (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
On January 1, 2025, Discovery Channel in Canada was rebranded to USA Network by Bell Media. At the same time, a new Discovery Channel was launched, but owned by Rogers Media. Someone recently retargeted this to the new Discovery, but I'm not sure this is a good idea.
Many articles already link to this redirect in the context of the "old" Discovery Channel, particularly when mentioning Mayday (Canadian TV program). So I'm wondering, should this redirect instead stick with the "old" Discovery Channel given its usage? Limmidy (talk) 22:03, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Retarget to disambiguation. Heyaaaaalol (talk) 22:17, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Keep. Per a recent RM discussion, the 2025 Rogers-owned channel is the primary topic. This does mean that there is some work to do in fixing wikilinks - perhaps somebody with a script could get to work on retargeting everything pre-2025 to USA Network (Canadian TV channel). 162 etc. (talk) 22:50, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Retarget to disambiguation: I converted "Food Network Canada" to a dab because I had seen many articles linking to "Food Network Canada" to refer to the Corus-owned incarnation of the channel (now Flavour Network), given it actually did go by that name on-air at one point. The creation of the dab did spur edits to fix the targeting on many pages, so I think that was successful and should be emulated here. ViperSnake151 Talk 01:39, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- I've reverted that. The Rogers-owned channel is the primary topic there too. I will note that there are now no meaningful incoming links to Food Network Canada. 162 etc. (talk) 17:08, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Great Western Park
[edit]Ambiguous: it is also a park in Windsor [1] and Montreal [2], among other places [3]. This is just a pretty ambiguous name and a small town in Oxfordshire doesn't necessarily occupy the WP:PTOPIC. I suggest deletion Cremastra (u — c) 21:51, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I follow the point that is being made here. It's a reasonable point that if there's no primary topic then it it should be disambiguated between the multiple places of the name. Why would that lead to suggesting deletion? Chessrat (talk, contributions) 22:14, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Cremastra: I just realized the likely misunderstanding behind your suggestion of deletion: despite the name, Great Western Park is not a park! It is the name of a settlement, located within the Western Valley civil parish within Vale of White Horse (which was split from the Harwell civil parish in 2023). It is currently the only settlement in the Western Valley civil parish, but the Valley Park housing development which is being constructed is also part of that civil parish. It's not administered as a part of Didcot, though, which makes me realize that it should either be a redirect to Western Valley or a disambiguation page- or be fleshed out into an actual article. Chessrat (talk, contributions) 22:44, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Or on second thoughts... the fact that Great Western Park North and Great Western Park South are administered as part of Didcot/South Oxfordshire, and it's only the central part of Great Western Park that's in Vale of White Horse, probably means that a standalone article is needed, because neither a redirect to Didcot nor a redirect to Western Valley are fully accurate. Chessrat (talk, contributions) 22:48, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification about what the Oxfordshire Great Western Park is. I proposed deletion instead of disambiguation because not all the other things are mentioned on Wikipedia. The Windsor one is nicely discussed here, but the Montreal one doesn't seem to have coverage. This is why I brought it to RfD. Cremastra (u — c) 23:17, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- If the town in Oxfordshire isn't the primary topic then clearly more content is needed about the other Great Western Parks.
- I'll get started on an article about the town in Oxfordshire once this discussion is over, but will wait for this discussion to conclude before doing so, as if there isn't a primary topic then the article would be titled Great Western Park, Oxfordshire. Wikipedia:Baltimore
[edit]- Wikipedia:Baltimore → Wikipedia:Meetup/Baltimore 1 (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
either retarget to WP:WikiProject Maryland/Baltimore task force or WP:Meetup/Baltimore or disambiguate; it's weird to point to one specific meetup and no incoming links. charlotte 👸🎄 02:20, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete the meetup was in 2011. Or disambiguate -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 04:17, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Retarget current project more likely than over 13 year old meetup but maybe disambiguate. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:32, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Retarget to the task force as a much more likely target. For the few people wanting to get to the inactive meetup page, a hatnote should suffice. QuicoleJR (talk) 22:02, 30 December 2024 (UTC)

Land drainage (disambiguation)
[edit]- Land drainage (disambiguation) → Drainage (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Now that Land drainage (disambiguation) has been merged into Drainage by @Klbrain:, this title is no longer required (noting it has history as a disambiguation page rather than as an article) because the target is not a disambiguation page. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 20:13, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Sridevi (upcoming film)
[edit]- Sridevi (upcoming film) → Sridevi (unreleased film) (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
This is an {{R from move}} but is misleading and ambiguous (with Sreedevi (film)). Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 19:49, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Archimedean order
[edit]- Archimedean order → Archimedean ordered vector space (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
There is also Archimedean ordered field. 1234qwer1234qwer4 19:16, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Retarget to Archimedean property, the article for which the above other redirect targets, which discusses the concept generally. 35.139.154.158 (talk) 21:44, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Retarget Archimedean property, the article on this general concept, as above. —David Eppstein (talk) 08:38, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Polydendri forest
[edit]- Polydendri forest → Skiti, Larissa (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Wrong redirection. Polydendri forest is not the same with Skiti, village. The article for this item simply does not exist in Wikipedia. Users refuse to speedy delete the redirection. Lord Mountbutter (talk) 19:13, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- I've added a paragraph[4]. DrKay (talk) 20:06, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- I can't understand why a redirection should, at all costs, not be deleted. Lord Mountbutter (talk) 18:52, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Arab Democratic Republic
[edit]- Arab Democratic Republic → Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
I believe the redirect from Arab Democratic Republic to Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic is not appropriate. This redirect targets a specific instance from a general term. Many Arab republics have labeled themselves as democratic, such as the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. The redirect should either be deleted or replaced with a disambiguation page. РоманЖ (talk) 10:38, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment could point to Arab Republic and itemize there -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 12:26, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete. I agree with the nom: this partial title match is not an appropriate redirect. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 21:24, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment I don't think I've ever seen a plain "Arab Democratic Republic" refer to the Sahrawi Republic, but on the other hand googling "Arab Democratic Republic" brings up nothing but the Sahrawi Republic, and if you exclude Sahrawi the results just pop up other spellings of Sahrawi, and so on as you exclude more and more spelling variations till eventually I found a Yemen reference about six exclusions deep. CMD (talk) 04:01, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- That is exactly what I initially did before creating this redirect, which is precisely why I created it. Moreover, the Democratic Republic of Algeria is not solely Arab; many Berbers and other non-Arab groups also live there. Yemen, on the other hand, could indeed be referred to as an Arab Republic. Therefore, I now support some form of disambiguation or retargeting to the Arab Republic page, but I still oppose deletion. Cuvaj (talk) 09:18, 30 December 2024 (UTC)

Fish fish fish fish fish
[edit]- Fish fish fish fish fish → Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo#Other words using the same pattern (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Target section vanished + not mentioned in article anymore (Ctrl+Fing "fish fish fish fish fish" in target article shows no results). If this redirect gets deleted, it should be put on WP:DAFT. 67.209.128.64 (talk) 17:24, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Delete (and list at WP:DAFT) per nom. Carguychris (talk) 18:48, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Add a mention in List of linguistic example sentences and retarget Seems to be a common example sentence to demonstrate syntax [5] Ca talk to me! 02:21, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Despacito 2
[edit]Not mentioned in the target article. Delete. -1ctinus📝🗨 15:19, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Delete per WP:POPULARITY and per nom. Non-notable meme. 67.209.128.64 (talk) 17:29, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Delete 2. Placing "2" after random names is a meme for numerous things (see Sex 2 on Know Your Meme). Thus, implausible redirect. -insert valid name here- (talk) 23:48, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- i can't believe sex 2 is a pc98 game consarn (speak evil) (see evil) 11:18, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
- Delete we are not an indiscriminate collection of memes. --Lenticel (talk) 00:08, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
retarget to siivagunner, life, death, undertale, every article on every deific figure of every religion ever, despicable me, snow halation, and death again, all at the same time. despacito 2 is a universal constant
- ...or delete as an unnotable, undiscussed meme consarn (speak evil) (see evil) 11:32, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Ambient jungle
[edit]- Ambient jungle → Jungle music#Subgenres (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Article has previously linked to a sub-section of the Jungle music article about sub-genres. That section no longer exists and there is no term "Ambient jungle" or any similar term on the page. Term for a genre or sub-genre of this does not appear to be in common use. Andrzejbanas (talk) 15:04, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Woah, ass ahoy!
[edit]- Woah, ass ahoy! → Brian Griffin (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
This catchphrase is not mentioned in the target article, so I doubt this makes it a plausable redirect. Delete. -1ctinus📝🗨 14:41, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support the deletion of this. I'm vaguely familiar with this show and this isn't exactly "Yabba Dabba Doo" or "D'oh!" for someone who might remember a catchphrase, but can't place the name of a character or the show in question. Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:50, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Annals of Clinical Cardiology
[edit]- Annals of Clinical Cardiology → List of Medknow Publications academic journals#A (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Can this redirect be deleted, please? An editor has created Journal Annals of Clinical Cardiology, which properly needs to moved to this title. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 12:54, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Support deletion (in preparation for a move), or more directly 'move over redirect' (Journal Annals of Clinical Cardiology to Annals of Clinical Cardiology. Note that this is the same journal as intended by the existing redirect. That is, Annals of Clinical Cardiology currently points to List of Medknow Publications academic journals#A, but Medknow is now part of Wolters Kluwer (the publisher listed at Journal Annals of Clinical Cardiology). Klbrain (talk) 13:09, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- It's just a WP:G6 if it's holding up a page move, which should be done itself without leaving a redirect, and with the title fixed in the new article's lead. As far as I know, this can be done by a page mover, and listed at WP:RMTR and doesn't need a discussion here. 35.139.154.158 (talk) 16:39, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. I went to create the RM request just now but the article has been draftified since this morning. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 18:57, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Moot. Well then, there's nothing to do here I guess...but I'd suggest renaming the draft to the proper name of the journal (assuming that "journal" isn't actually part of it), and if it does get accepted, it can just be moved over top of the redirect uncontroversially. 35.139.154.158 (talk) 19:07, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Good call, I'll do that now ("journal" isn't part of the name). BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 21:52, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

- Also "Labor Day", "Great Miami", "Last Island", and "Freeport". 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 20:57, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. Many of these are in Template:Strongest U.S. landfalling hurricanes and other Wikipedia templates, which refutes portrayals of these terms as unused and unnatural.

Liu Yali (skier)
[edit]- Liu Yali (skier) → Alpine skiing at the 1992 Winter Olympics (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Target article does not mention this athlete. Target page only names medallists in this event not all competitors. LibStar (talk) 02:52, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- She is listed at Alpine skiing at the 1992 Winter Olympics – Women's slalom, so edit the target accordingly and Keep. Ingratis (talk) 03:02, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

Japanese role-playing
[edit]- Japanese role-playing → Role-playing video game (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
This redirect simply makes no sense. It can refer to role-playing in general, but it still wouldn't make sense. There aren't any other pages it can go to either so I suggest it be deleted. It has a few links leading to it, but those can be fixed. CheeseyHead (talk) 01:19, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- delete as missing the word "game", with opposition to retargeting to the same place as jrpg for that same reason consarn (speak evil) (see evil) 14:01, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

- Speedy delete as G7. Per the edit summary, not intended to have been placed at this title. The mover is also the creator of the disambiguation page, and the only person to edit the page. Seems to be safely deleteable as it has been recognized as an error. Utopes (talk / cont) 00:42, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- G6 has been declined for this redirect in the past on grounds of there being pageviews. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 01:24, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- G7 does not depend on pageviews. As long as the sole primary author wants something removed from Wikipedia, and the edit summary says they do, the request should be obliged per WP:G7. Utopes (talk / cont) 16:04, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- If this is only about deleting the redirect "Red Iron", I should have no problem. This might have been my first disambiguation or a cut and paste error when I first created it. As for the apparent use, it might be an interwiki link that was made to the original name, but I'll have to look into that later tonight.
- If I might comment on the present disambiguation, it probably needs some work, both for style and for red links to articles that have been moved, deleted, or modified, but this may not be the time and place.

- Delete I tagged it with G7 but then reverted due to a G6 being declined with the reason "has been used, see pageviews tool. would recommend RfD, though". Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:58, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- I don't think the decliner of the G6 realized that G7 was applicable, i.e. that the disambig and the redirect were created by the same person. The creator of both pages is here in this RfD saying that there's no problem for the redirect to go as a cut and paste error. A declined G6 does not mean G7 is off the table.
