Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

List of Asian countries by GDP

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Dynamic IP has been repeatedly messing with the list. McSly (talk) 12:40, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Ymblanter (talk) 21:00, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
• Automated comment: One or more pages in this request appear to already be protected. Please confirm.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 21:05, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Trillion dollar club (macroeconomics)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Nearly all edits on this article this month have been to counteract the IP editors who have repeatedly added, or have replaced well established Trillion dollar countries (eg USA, Japan) with, Pakistan, a country that has never gotten anywhere close to 1 Trillion GDP according to the this article's main source (#3), with source 4 on Economy of Pakistan, and any basic web search for "current GDP of Pakistan". For a moment I thought it was possible that the IPs were confusing PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) with GDP, as Pakistan's PPP is 1.57 trillion (2023 est), BUT that is not how this article is presenting the data, or how the other entries are calculated, and the flat out replacement of the USA with Pakistan does not allow any good faith assumptions for any possible PPP/GDP confusion. Janno Lieber

Reason: and related AFD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Janno Lieber due to disruptive editing by a SPA and an IP editor repeatedly reopening an improper AFD by reversion. StreetcarEnjoyer (talk) 16:53, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Has been handled outside of here. StreetcarEnjoyer (talk) 18:27, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Justin Shenkarow

Reason: High level of IP vandalism 104.35.8.48 (talk) 17:13, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. The article was last edited in January, and the last "vandalism" is lost in the mists of time. Favonian (talk) 17:52, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kabylia

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing. Skitash (talk) 17:45, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. @Skitash: Please start explaining your reverts in your edit summaries. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 19:01, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sadie Sink

Reason: Vandalism from a (now banned) Auto-confirmed account, if you look at the revision history you will see that a use by the name of Markokapdbe has vandalized the page. But it looks as if they were banned, and other than that, there hasn't been much vandalism or disruptive editing. Maybe it's time for a Pending-Changes protection. 70.50.199.125 (talk) 18:05, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 18:57, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Screams Before Silence

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent re-adding of false claims from non WP:RS sources by same person using multiple IPs even after clear explanations on the talk page. Georgeee101 (talk) 19:14, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

• Automated comment: A request for protection/unprotection for one or more pages in this request was recently made, and was denied at some point within the last 8 days.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 19:19, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High Level of IP Vandalism Richardgrayson3451 (talk) 19:20, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Please provide diffs of the "high level of IP vandalism" that you speak of. OhNoitsJamie Talk 19:23, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Changpeng Zhao

Reason: There is an ongoing edit war regarding the nationality of Changpeng Zhao. Users keep removing "Chinese" from being listed in the nationality section of his page. A source is provided that verifies he was born in China and resided in China. The page states numerous times that he was born in China and resided in China, but despite this the nationality information keeps being removed. Nationality: "The status of belonging to a particular nation by origin, birth, or naturalization." Bluecenote (talk) 20:04, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Andrey Belousov

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:GS/RUSUKR and WP:CT/EE. IanDBeacon (talk) 20:12, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sde Teiman detention camp

Reason: WP:CT/A-I B3251 (talk) 20:42, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected Ymblanter (talk) 20:50, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

List of Romani people

Reason: High level of ip vandalism- there are several problems on this page, adding lots of unsourced content by ip´s which gets reverted regularly by other editors i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. or sock puppet behaviour like this ip who is probably the same person 5, 6, 7 etc. This goes on for several months. Theonewithreason (talk) 20:51, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Ymblanter (talk) 20:54, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mary Costa

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Long-term abuse, edit warring from Florida, block evasion by Special:Contributions/2600:1006:B130:1CD0:0:0:0:0/64. Binksternet (talk) 21:04, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Victoria De Angelis

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – vandalism. Joeykai (talk) 21:06, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rose Franco

Reason: Continued IP vandalism. Adding death date without reliable source and undid their edits, only for them to be ignored. BLP violations. TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 21:19, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

• To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
• Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
• Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
• If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add Edit fully-protected to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

• Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among Edit protected, Edit template-protected, Edit extended-protected, or Edit semi-protected to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
• Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the Edit COI template should be used.
• Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
• If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
• This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Talk:Israel-Hamas war

I would like to request the addition of a talk page on the Israel-Hamas war article that points out that the map on said article doesn’t show the Israeli evacuation order from Rafah and should be updated. LordOfWalruses (talk) 21:45, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
