Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Travel and tourism
Points of interest related to Tourism on Wikipedia: Category – WikiProject – Stubs – Assessment |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Travel and tourism. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Travel and tourism|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Travel and tourism. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

Article is very poorly sourced, and constitutes WP:NOTNEWS CitrusHemlock 18:04, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

- Note: For the AfDs on the Australia/New Zealand and Europe tours, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/IShowSpeed's tour of Australia and New Zealand. KnowledgeIsPower9281 (talk) 18:12, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Leaning Delete Per the sources being mostly just his own live streams. Poor sourcing, only slightly notable. ☩ (Babysharkboss2) 18:17, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Delete - Filled with primary and unreliable sources, along with original research. Also seems to be written from a fan's perspective. The tour should be mentioned in IShowSpeed's individual article as there is not enough substance for an individual article. KnowledgeIsPower9281 (talk) 18:22, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Just so we keep the info all on one discussion, if anyone knows how to do it, I'm thinking we should merge this AfD discussion with the Europe and Australia/New Zealand tours. KnowledgeIsPower9281 (talk) 18:25, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

- Delete egregious over-coverage of a streamer, based on primary sources. Walsh90210 (talk) 21:50, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Delete. Full of primary sources (i.e. his livestreams, which are definitely NOT appropriate sources). It's already mentioned in his own article, so anything to add should be kept there. Procyon117 (talk) 12:34, 23 November 2024 (UTC)

This feels WP:TOOSOON and exclusively uses primary and unreliable sources, along with original research in the form of maps. I'm also considering placing an Afd tag on Speed's Europe/Southeast Asia tours since none of Speed's tours seem like they warrant inclusion in the encyclopedia. They would be better mentioned briefly in Speed's own article which itself needs a lot of work. This article and the other Speed tour articles appear to be added from the perspective of a fan rather than from a non-neutral perspective. See the IShowSpeed article itself for a list of problems I found with content on his article, and, by extension, these tour articles. KnowledgeIsPower9281 (talk) 17:12, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I am also nominating the following related page because the article is poorly sourced, written from a fan's perspective, and contain original research with maps:
- KnowledgeIsPower9281 (talk) 18:10, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
Note for readers: This AfD discussion bundles two articles; the namesake and a Europe tour. A third article on a Southeast Asia tour was nominated for deletion by a different editor. KnowledgeIsPower9281 (talk) 18:46, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Speedy Draftify per WP:TOOSOON and close per WP:SNOW. The sourcing just isn't there and it needs to close fast per WP:NOTPROMO. Make it pass an WP:AFC review before being allowed back in main space.4meter4 (talk) 17:25, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

- KnowledgeIsPower9281, this AFD is not set up correctly as a bundled nomination. Please review the instructions at WP:AFD for nominating multiple articles and format your nomination statement accordingly. It's not just a matter of tagging an article, this AFD has to be correctly formatted or our editing tools, XFDcloser will not take action on other articles that you think are included here but really aren't. Not finding sources which get us over the WP:NCORP hurdle. Finding some trivial mentions (e.g. [1]). TWL only gives [2], which is not enough for an article. Of the sources in the article: I can't find the Ruggia source, the Dineen source is a trivial mention, and the third one is a press release from the company itself.

Only 1 source in 16 years of article existence. Anything relevant can be put into Tourism in Paraguay. Fails GNG. LibStar (talk) 01:28, 20 November 2024 (UTC)

- delete If nothing else, it reads like a travel guide, not an encyclopedia article. Mangoe (talk) 03:35, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Selective merge to Tourism in Paraguay per WP:ATD. I'm seeing travel guides for Paraguay name dropping the term (one example [3]), and even an encyclopedia in Paraguay briefly saying it is an important part of the country's economy in certain places (see [4]) but without elaborating. It's clearly a topic that could be covered, but might be better done in the parent article.4meter4 (talk) 04:33, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Merge into Tourism in Paraguay as suggested by 4meter4 and nom. My initial impression was that it was salvageable with sourcing, but it isn't the case. Coeusin (talk) 05:59, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- Merge and redirect to the parent article per 4meter4 and Coeusin. Miniapolis 02:04, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Merge as suggested. The redirect is implied. Bearian (talk) 04:32, 23 November 2024 (UTC)

Small Sri Lankan hotel chain. Aside from the primary source citations in this article, the rest are mostly a mixture of routine press coverage about new property openings and awards, therefore I don’t believe this crosses the threshold of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject, to pass WP:CORP. - Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: Travel and tourism, Football, Nepal, Thailand, and India. Demt1298 (talk) 20:25, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- There appears to be some coverage of the topic of elephants playing football, e.g. Newsweek, Reuters, The Independent, AS, News9, as well as some books, e.g. [5] & [6]. BeanieFan11 (talk) 20:40, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Delete Elephants are sadly abused in many ways, but the fact that this happens doesn't make it a specific notable topic. If anything there can be a sentence at Elephant polo saying they are forced to play other sports, but these sources don't justify an article here. Reywas92Talk 21:49, 15 November 2024 (UTC)

- Keep or perhaps find a suitable WP:ATD such as a merge to Captive elephants. There is coverage on this (both as an event and people protesting it) in secondary sources: [7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [13] Best.4meter4 (talk) 02:36, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related deletions. GiantSnowman 08:43, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Redirect to Captive elephants as above. GiantSnowman 08:46, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Keep: It makes no sense to redirect to captive elephants. If such logic is applied all sports involing animals will be affected. There is no harm in keeping and incubating the article. Such sports is basically for tourism activities rather than for hard core sport activity. Also as 4meter4 pointed out, there is WP:SIGCOV as well. nirmal (talk) 04:21, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- KeepAs per 4meter4 and BeanieFan11 there is WP:SIGCOV for this.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 18:48, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Keep: Per all of the sources, identified by 4meter4. The subject has enough wp:sigcov for a standalone. Kaizenify (talk) 09:22, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
