Fix your Bot!

[edit]

Your Bot keeps tagging photos that have license tags, rationale, US Government public domain works, etc. Please fix it before having it continually erroneously tag uploaded materials. Sf46 (talk) 01:46, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sf46: Thank you for your inquiry. First, I have to disclaim that I do not operate any bots, all procedures are done by myself. Secondly, it seems that you are talking about File:Ivy Courtney Grave.JPG, yet your file does not have a direct link to the source page, so verification for source is almost impossible. That is why I tagged your file with Template:Di-no permission. Please provide a direct link to the image, for example, something like this. Unless further copyright information is provided, I would stand firm on my viewpoint of deletion. Should you have further disagreement, or other further details related to the issue, please feel free to reply to me, thank you.廣九直通車 (talk) 02:01, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This photo is not available online from any source. It is a scan of a public domain photo created by the US Federal government. It was featured with a license tag and description/rationale with this information. Do works of the US Federal government normally require releases for publication? The photo that has now been deleted was orginially provided by the US Federal Government as part of its Andrew's Project of the American Battle Monuments Commission. The information is outlined at this webiste: [ https://www.abmc.gov/about-us/our-services/order-lithograph] Additionally, the tag you put is for copyrighted material. This image is not copyrighted. I'd like to request that this image be put up for discussion on one of the deletion discussions. Sf46 (talk) 21:15, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has asked for a deletion review of File:First Bull Run 2011 U.S. stamp.jpg. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. TheVirginiaHistorian (talk)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mumbai Police, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Department of Home (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

American Dog Breeders Association

[edit]

Hi, esteemed OTRS colleague! I've restored the copyvio blanking at American Dog Breeders Association – as I'm sure you realise, the permission given in the ticket is not adequate for our purposes. In general, the copyvio template should be removed only once proper permission has been received and documented on the talk-page. I assume you'll be replying to the ticket? Many thanks, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:11, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Justlettersandnumbers:Thanks a lot! Actually I am mostly active on Wikimedia Commons, mainly dealing for file permissions, and it is my very first time to work on English Wikipedia text permission. Anyways, thank you for your kind advice!廣九直通車 (talk) 14:13, 21 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding a request

Hi 廣九直通車, Please pardon me and give me one chance, please unblock me on Wikimedia, Thanks MRRaja001 (talk) 19:49, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@MRRaja001:1. You are not blocked on English Wikipedia, but Wikimedia Commons. 2. I am not in charge with enforcing the block. You should consider asking it on your Commons talk page at c:User talk:MRRaja001 (in which you have granted for pardon once, only violated it again), regards.廣九直通車 (talk) 01:24, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And just forgot to tell you, your access to your talk page have also been denied. Consider email a local administrator on Commons? Yet be cautious:if this function is considered being abused, the email function may also get terminated.廣九直通車 (talk) 01:37, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

PNG image file currently on Tianwen-1 Wiki page

[edit]

Dear Guangdong/GuangXi Ninth (direct) Route Bus:

Thank you for your rather perplexing message about the imminent (2 days) deletion of said image file currently on the Tianwen-1 page. (Note that the current file has been downsized and cropped as compared to the one that I originally uploaded so I'm not really responsible for it anymore. Also, it was only my belief that the original image file is non-free content and possibly licensed by specific Chinese news organizations, photographers, or the CNSA.)

Your feeling that my claim of fair-use for the original PNG image file fails the very first criterion of the Wikipedia fair-use policy may or may not be justified; I don't know. All I can say is that at the time of the original file-upload, I knew of no depictions of said spacecraft in the public domain that was available within the United States (where I reside.) Of course there may exist depictions that are freely licensed to the public at large, but I have not yet encountered it. Furthermore, I myself have neither the time nor the inclination to research either the detailed history of the original image file or the availability of free equivalents. In addition, a textual engineering description of said spacecraft simply is not equivalent to a photo and/or artistic depiction of it (otherwise there is really no need for any photos or drawings on Wikipedia.) Finally, I don't have the time to do a drawing or rendering of the spacecraft (based on the PNG file) myself and upload it to Wikipedia Commons.

For all of these reasons, if your intention is to rid any photo depictions of the Tianwen-1 spacecraft from its English Wikipedia page, then you've succeeded. Congratulations!

Cheers, Spotty's Friend (talk) 20:02, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Spotty's Friend:Thank you for your comment. As you said it was only my belief that the original image file is non-free content and possibly licensed by specific Chinese news organizations, photographers, or the CNSA. Did you know CNS's YouTube stream is licensed under CC-BY-SA-3.0? Perhaps you can try to search on their YouTube stream. IMO Wikipedia is Wikipedia, because it's content is free, and as a result, the use of fair use files have to be restricted to a minimum scale. Anyways, should you have other views, please file your request on WP:DRV, regards.廣九直通車 (talk) 02:01, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Username

[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to make a quick comment about your username. As per the Wikipedia:Username policy, a non-Latin username is allowed, but can be problematic;

Users with usernames in non-Latin script writing systems are welcome to edit Wikipedia. There is no requirement that usernames must be in English or that Latin script characters must be used. However, such usernames may appear illegible to other contributors to the English Wikipedia, and not every user's keyboard or input device may have immediate access to non-Latin characters. In addition, sometimes certain characters may not display correctly. As a courtesy to other contributors, and to avoid possible confusion or mis-identification, users with such usernames are encouraged to consider providing a Latin-character transliteration of their username on their userpage, and/or as their signature.

And, from the guideline Wikipedia:Signatures;

Editors with non-Latin usernames are welcome to edit in Wikipedia. However, non-Latin scripts, such as Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Indic scripts, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Thai and others, are illegible to most other contributors of the English Wikipedia. Not everyone uses a keyboard that has immediate access to non-Latin characters, and names that cannot be pronounced cannot be retained in memory. As a courtesy to the rest of the contributors, users with such usernames are encouraged to sign their posts (at least in part) with Latin characters. For an example refer to User:Παράδειγμα, who signs his posts as "Παράδειγμα/Paradigma."

I understand your username appears to be Chinese, and it apparently translates to "Guangzhou-Kowloon through train". I'm not sure what the significance of that is to you, but if you would consider adding that, or another Latinized name or word to your signature, (eg: 廣九直通車/Guangzhou-Kowloon through train), it would make interacting with you a great deal easier for your fellow editors.

To attach a Latinized word or name to your signature, just go to "Preferences", and on the first page, under "User Profile", scroll down to "Signatures". There you will see a text box where you can customize your signature to your liking and you will be able to modify it with an add-on in Latin script that will help others identify and communicate with you. There are additional instructions at Wikipedia:Signature tutorial, and at the bottom of the page you will find a list of unique, colorful and creative signatures, just as you will see throughout Wikipedia, that may help give you some ideas. If you need any assistance, you can contact the Help Desk. I hope you find this useful and, happy editing! - wolf 06:18, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
