Articles for deletion nomination of Reincarnation research
[edit]I have nominated Reincarnation research, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Reincarnation research. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. ScienceApologist (talk) 00:17, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
New proposals
[edit]I have some new proposals that I think might help calm things down. Could you let me know your thoughts? Thanks, Mitsube (talk) 08:03, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Notice of editing restrictions
[edit](Wrong template used. See below for the notice I should have used.)
- Would you mind pointing to the specific edit that caused a problem?--Anthon.Eff (talk) 13:28, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Please see my comment here. AGK 20:48, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Would you mind pointing to the specific edit that caused a problem?--Anthon.Eff (talk) 13:28, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. The notice I should have given was:
The Arbitration Committee has permitted administrators to impose, at their own discretion, sanctions on any editor working on pages broadly related to Armenia-Azerbaijan and related conflicts if the editor repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions including blocks, a revert limitation or an article ban. The committee's full decision can be read at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Armenia-Azerbaijan 2#Final decision.
- Makes more sense. Still, though, I can't quite understand what triggered this--I was not uncivil. If you don't mind, could you take a second look at the edits KansasBear alerted you to, and tell me specifically what puts them beyond the pale. Thanks.--Anthon.Eff (talk) 17:57, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Michael Levin
[edit]Regarding that article: I'm sorry to have to repeat my question about whether you have actually read the two articles used as sources. This is an issue that just can't be ignored. If you don't know what the article's sources say, then you simply cannot change statements in it to something that you think is better, because you have no way of knowing whether the sources support your changes. You could be changing the article in ways that the sources do not support or even contradict. I appreciate your concerns about BLP, but you aren't dealing with this issue in the right way. Your comment that I should "find the specific articles criticizing Levin by Lewontin, Gould, etc" implies that the articles by Richardson and Kamin are criticisms specifically of Levin - but if you haven't read them, you don't know that, and certainly shouldn't be implying that such is the case. If the material is disputed, then it might arguably be better to remove it entirely rather than to rephrase it into something that could be completely mistaken. I suggest that approach to you as an alternative. UserVOBO (talk) 02:17, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Look, you are either grown up enough to edit here or you are not. If you are, I've already given you enough feedback. If you are not, then maybe you should just look around a bit and try to learn what you need to do. Best wishes.--Anthon.Eff (talk) 02:21, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- That's a personal attack, and it's a silly and quite unfortunate way to respond. Be aware that it won't look good to other editors, whom you will need to convince of the correctness of your position. There's no shame in not having read an article, but it gets to be a problem when you insist on changing an article based on something you haven't read! UserVOBO (talk) 02:25, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, and in regard to your edit summary here, people who edit war shouldn't accuse others of edit warring. UserVOBO (talk) 02:27, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:58, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the best wishes Anthon. It is indeed very hard to come to terms with other editors or reason with them in some heated topics. I will try to spend less time in these entries. Robert Willie (talk) 16:19, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Question regarding the Warao People
[edit]Hello Anthon.Eff! I'm researching the Warao (with particular interest in health needs). On the Warao People page, it appears that you created the page in September 2006 - with I think, a link to a university website and a point about "Cultures in the standard cross cultural sample." Might be a long shot... but do you know anyone who provides medical aid in the Orinoco Delta? Thanks for the time. Grace and peace, Jon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by --Jpcpowerman (talk) 10:18, 1 October 2010 (UTC)Jpcpowerman (talk • contribs) 10:13, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- No, sorry Jon, don't know anyone working in the region. You might try contacting someone at Church World Service--they could probably give you a lead.--Anthon.Eff (talk) 14:42, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Check your sources
[edit]Deleting/tagging content without checking sources ([1], [2]) is not the way to approach editing in a controversial topic area. Please do make constructive edits based on reliable secondary sourcing.aprock (talk) 16:53, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- How about putting in the text the names of those making the assertions? To call something "racist" is a smear, and it should be clear who exactly is making the smear. And please try to keep in mind that WP:BLP guidelines operate for this article. Thanks!--Anthon.Eff (talk) 17:32, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- You're welcome to edit the article constructively yourself. However, edits which clearly indicate that you are not using sources are disruptive. If you think sources are being misused, I suggest you bring your concerns to the talk page or the appropriate noticeboard. aprock (talk) 17:42, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- You are calling me "disruptive"? Whatever happened to WP:AGF?--Anthon.Eff (talk) 18:48, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- Nothing happened to it. Making edits without checking sources, which contradict the existing inline sources, is disruptive. If you find that characterization problematic, take it up at WP:WQA, or WP:ANI. aprock (talk) 19:04, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- I guess you need to explain to me exactly what I did wrong--I don't recognize myself in your accusation. Thanks. --Anthon.Eff (talk) 19:11, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- The diffs of the edits where you contradict the inline citations are above. aprock (talk) 19:29, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- I made a mistake in the first edit. I fixed it in the second. There is nothing in the second edit that "contradicts the inline citations". And we still haven't fixed the problem I tried to address (badly, as it turns out) in my first edit. There is a WP:BLP problem in this sentence: ...an organization that has been described as racist in nature, and of the Pioneer-supported journal Mankind Quarterly, which has been called a white supremacist journal. The sentence does not specify who makes those accusations. Can you make a constructive suggestion about how to fix this? Thanks.--Anthon.Eff (talk) 21:01, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- If you had checked sources, you would know that the "Mankind Quarterly" content is properly sourced. As it stands now the Pioneer Fund content is sourced in the body of the article, as well as in the Pioneer Fund article. If you have BLP concerns, allow me to suggest WP:BLPN. aprock (talk) 21:22, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
- I know about BPLN. But, of course, it's best not to be a crybaby and run to others unless it's a last resort. You seem reasonable enough, and--believe it or not--pretty much with coincident interests on WP. But I don't really see a response to my question. What I want is to make specific the accusations of "racism". Can you make some suggestions on that? Thanks!--Anthon.Eff (talk) 01:25, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Probably the best way to do that would be to review the cited sources. There is a non-trivial list of claimants, including Lane, Tucker, the SPLC, and various others. While these descriptions of PF and MQ are contested by the groups themselves, it is done with equivocation. On the other hand, the lead should certainly be about Lynn and any controversy discussed in the lead should be about him. Rather than purging the lead of critical aspects, properly summarizing the criticism section would be sensible. aprock (talk) 01:40, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
- My view is that the lede should be short and factual, without editorializing about his writings and affiliations. By "editorializing", I mean statements like "...an organization that has been described as racist in nature", and "...which has been called a white supremacist journal". I've seen all kinds of people called "racist", and it is clear to me that this is a very subjective call. That's why we need to be specific, so the reader knows exactly who said these things. The criticism section does not talk about the racism of PF or MQ, so (and I guess I'm differing with you here) it's not as if the lede is summarizing the criticism section. Anyway, I'm unusually busy this semester, and might be slow, but I would be glad to work with you to get this sorted out. Shalom!--Anthon.Eff (talk) 02:55, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
Mccarthy
[edit]Hi. Such comments [3] and edits are not appropriate, and next time you'll be noticed. Read WP:DR: "Editors occasionally find themselves at an impasse, either because they cannot find rational grounds to settle a dispute or because they become emotionally or ideologically invested in "winning" an argument." If it is not clear for you,I'll explain at talk, so please go there and discuss for the first what you believe is a minor edit. Gazifikator (talk) 06:41, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
- I'm glad to discuss my edits, but I'm not fond of talking to condescending people who think that they are always right. And there is something about the above that makes me a little leery. Please prove me wrong. Probably the best way to convince me of your good intentions would be to explain why you reverted ALL of my edits. A good place to explain that would be on the talk page of the McCarthy article. Shalom. --Anthon.Eff (talk) 06:50, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 19
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Risaralda Department, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Cauca (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

- I have made a merge proposal, I pointed the discussion to Talk:Reincarnation_research#Section_.22Conclusions_and_criticism.22_-_undue_weight_and_the_like.... If you could please refrain from discussing each other's behaviour, and comment only on the content issues.... --Enric Naval (talk) 19:27, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Auguste Groner moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Auguste Groner, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:25, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Anthon.Eff, I saw you input the source for the draft page above. Kindly provide inline citations in the body texts (contain claimed need to be supported by source) - see info and instruction here - referencing for beginners. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 13:43, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
Your submission at Articles for creation: Auguste Groner (February 8)
[edit]- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Auguste Groner and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you now believe the draft cannot meet Wikipedia's standards or do not wish to progress it further, you may request deletion. Please go to Draft:Auguste Groner, click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window, add "{{db-self}}" at the top of the draft text and click the blue "publish changes" button to save this edit.
- If you need any assistance, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk or on the reviewer's talk page.
- You can also use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
Hello, Anthon.Eff!

The file File:Louis Pio (ca. 1870).jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
