January 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that one or more recent edit(s) you made did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! Daniel Quinlan (talk) 21:12, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Seconded. A simple edit summary is helpful to your co-contributors. Thanks for considering these messages. Eric talk 19:49, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits while logged out. Please be mindful not to perform controversial edits while logged out, or your account risks being blocked from editing. Please consider reading up on Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts before editing further. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. Please stop with the logged-out edits. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 21:46, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Per above, please start using edit summaries. Yes, really. Edits like this one are basically incomprehensible without an explanations. I don't know why you removed sourced content like that, but if you cannot explain in a summary, and it isn't extremely obvious, do not be surprised if you get reverted. Grayfell (talk) 20:27, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Brainiac 5. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 19:08, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The New Batman Adventures, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Calendar Girl. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 17:55, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

July 2024 - Again, Edit Summary

[edit]

Information icon Hello Fiction Fanatic III. Again, please provide a summary of every edit you make. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history. Summaries help other editors by (a) providing a reason for the edit, (b) saving the time to open up the edit to find out what it's all about, and (c) providing information about the edit on diff pages and lists of changes (such as page histories and watchlists).

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary.

As a reminder: When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Many who are ignorant of edit summaries fail to add them. Some ignore this basic brief task; however, failure seems arrogant and inconsiderate specially since they are so easy to add. Also, according to Wikipedia's consensus policy, all edits should be explained —either by clear edit summaries, or by discussion on the associated talk page. Quaerens-veritatem (talk) 20:07, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

September 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm BlueboyLINY. I noticed that you recently removed content from Andy Dick without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. BlueboyLINY (talk) 02:23, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

References on character articles

[edit]

Hi, thank you for going around and adding citations to Marvel character articles, it's something that is badly needed. :) BOZ (talk) 23:10, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any good sources for Stilt-Man? If you do, I'm sure I could bring the article back from this version. BOZ (talk) 19:57, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I restored Stilt-Man in case you are able to find any more sources for that character. BOZ (talk) 19:12, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Note about parent and child subcategories.

[edit]

For future reference, please do not add a fictional character parent category when there is already a comics character or similar child category on the article. Thanks in advance. (Oinkers42) (talk) 22:08, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!
