Utah Field House

[edit]

A few days ago I was so happy to see your addition of the photos to the Utah Field House of Natural History article. I'd been meaning to drive the few hundred miles down there but hadn't gotten around to it. But now I see you removed one because of your concern that it violated Freedom of panorama. I totally disagree that it violates that rule. If you read Wikipedia:Freedom of panorama you'll see that in the United States it applies only to copyrighted building designs. It does not apply to the sculpture of the dinosaur that was in the photo, and I really doubt the small amount of the building visible in the background would count. I love your photos and I hope that you will return that one to the article. Thanks! GreenGlass1972 (talk) 01:11, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but several people told me it did violate the law. I'm just trying to avoid any conflicts when it comes to legal interpretations. If a consensus develops which says it is allowable, I'll be happy to return it.

You can see all of my photos from there on this website: http://americanindian.net/utah2007.html

Russian Settlement

[edit]

I'm pretty much done expanding User:GreenGlass1972/Russian Knoll; I think it's ready to be moved to Russian Settlement, Utah. Look it over and see if it needs anything more. After you move it, I'll nominate it to WP:DYK. Thanks for the collaboration! Ntsimp (talk) 21:31, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you create any more articles in userspace in the future, remember to WP:MOVE them to an article rather than just copying and pasting, so you can preserve the edit history. I've submitted a request at WP:RM to have an administrator fix this. Ntsimp (talk) 01:04, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've nominated Russian Settlement, Utah, an article you worked on, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article here, where you can improve it if you see fit. Ntsimp (talk) 06:28, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, don't think you're odd for doing the copy/paste-from-subpage idea. I always do it that way; the only reason that it wasn't good here is that Ntsimp had edited your subpage. If you had been the only one to edit the article while it was on the subpage, copy/pasting wouldn't have been a problem. Nyttend (talk) 21:41, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Russian Settlement, Utah

[edit]
Updated DYK query On November 6, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Russian Settlement, Utah, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Utah articles

[edit]

Hi, don't give up. Yes, the anon has an irritating style (intentionally so? ... WP:AGF is difficult at times :), but keep working to improve the articles - the anon does respect good sources. Remember, be civil and careful with reverts and seek consensus on the various article talk pages as you are doing. Happy to work with you to improve the articles, Vsmith (talk) 02:02, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the encouragement, and reminder to remain civil! I appreciate it, along with all your work on the related articles. The funny thing is, Promontory Mountains, Raft River Mountains, and Silver Island Range, Utah were articles I created a while ago that no one ever read or paid any attention to. Now they seem to get more edits in a day then they got in all of last year. Thanks again, GreenGlass(talk) 03:14, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They're Threatening to Delete Your Article

[edit]

Hello! Thank you for the "heads-up" and the encouraging note. I am rather unfamiliar with Wikipedia guidelines and customs and have apparently made too many "self-promotional" entries to the article about me. There also seem to be a few individuals who really don't like my work, one of whom has not only stripped the article of my "colorful" entries, but also much relevant and referenced information. My work has always had it's detractors, so I am used to this occasionally.

I'm not sure how to "rally the troops" as I don't know anyone, or am not aware of such, who contribute to Wikipedia. The Hollywood stage show, Forbidden Zone Live in the Sixth Dimension, has been selling out and its run extended, we're going into production soon of a film sequel and, oddly enough, my publication/website Buzzine is used as reference in approximately 50 Wikipedia articles. So maybe I will be considered "notable" and not turn in the Invisible Man!

Thank you again -- I see you have a keen interest in your Utah state parks -- please enjoy my Buzzine article/interview with Ken Burns regarding his amazing recent PBS series on our national parks: http://www.buzzine.com/2009/09/ken-burns-interview/

Hey - what're you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be on vacation or semi-retired or something? :) As for Desert Lake, I'm not finding much online. I was at Weber State yesterday - should've checked the library there but it slipped my mind. I'll try to get over there this week and check for sources. I hope you're doing well and that life's not getting you down. GreenGlass(talk) 00:18, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there GreenGlass1972! I've noticed you have yourself listed as a member of the Food and Drink Wikiproject. Unfortunately it looks like the project has been slowly sliding into inactivity except for a couple of people. That makes me a sad potato, and nobody likes a sad potato amirite?

First off, go here and add {{Tick}} (checkY) next to your name if you're still part of the project.

Second, go to the project talkpage and participate in a discussion about how to make the project more active, and how to go about making articles in our area of interest a lot better.

You don't want to make me cry, do you? Potatoes have a lot of eyes you know. So come on, join in! :)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Proposed deletion of McGrath's Fish House

[edit]

The article McGrath's Fish House has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 2019 US Banknote Contest

[edit]
US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
